We have 78 days of school left, and part of me secretly hopes this pregnancy goes the same as my first, meaning bedrest at 35 weeks so I can be done earlier. (not that I'm wishing complications on myself, I just have no desire to work). I would love it if DH got a job that paid enough to make it worthwile for me to stay home.
I love Carl the llama so much that Carl is one of my nicknames!
FFFC: Yesterday my SIL told me that she is switching her 11-month old to forward facing in her convertible seat because "it makes her nervous that she can't see baby's face". I hard-core judge people who FF before two. I didn't say anything though - this is her second and I'm sure she already knows the recommendations.
AND THEN, later in the day, someone posted in my old BMB that they are turning their son to FF because she felt that he was happier that way and "there is research to support both sides". Um what? Her son is 10 months.
@ladylolly89 I'm with ya. 10 months is so little! It's actually illegal here in Michigan before age 1. My youngest sister sometimes thinks silly things like that and I just shake my head. She's actually not very into researching anything. After our car accident the other week she legit said "soooo, what are you doing with J's convertible car seat...I mean, it's still good right?" (They need an extra for her son).
No dude. I know you love to save a penny, but I'm not giving you our car seat that was in a car accident. Not a chance in hell. Lol I love her and she's an amazing mom but sometimes...
My FFFC is kinda lame but DS woke up with a low grade fever, cough and green runny nose. In my book this means WE MUST lay in bed all day and watch TV. Even breakfast in bed. Yesssss.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they actually updated the law in Michigan so that the requirements are for a child to be at least 2 years of age AND 30 pounds?? This is also a big pet peeve of mine. I see so many of my friends flipping their little ones to FF when they are less than 1 year old!!
@kscheich they may have! I'll look into it. I was under the know that age 1 is law, age 2 is the recommendation. DS (and DS2) will be RF until they're 10 so I just keep myself on that track! Haha...
@ladylolly89 and @mirdamae03 "Caaaaarrrlllll... what did you do Carl!?". I love llamas in hats. We actually nicknamed a colleague "Carl" for this very reason haha.
@kscheich what I can find is in 2014 there was a bill heading to legislation that would require age 2, regardless of child size, but that bill died before the house. Michigan law currently says age 2 or child must meet height and weight requirements for FF, so a child could be turned at any age it they're big enough in MI.
I think I got that right...maybe not. You'd think we should all know this clear as day!
One of the (very, very, very) few things Oklahoma has gotten right in the past year is updating car seat laws. I have no idea if they are really enforcing them like they should, but hopefully it's at least brought some attention to parents on the matter.
My FFFC is probably flame worthy - I have a secret/fake FB account that I use to spy on my husband's ex (our stepdaughter's mother). We recently just filed papers for contempt of court because she refused to give us stepdaughter on our days for Christmas this year (except for 1)... she can't stay off FB, and posts all kinds of things that have supported our case. Anyways... I guess she has either caught on/or her attorney warned her against what she put on FB because she has completely wiped out her FB friends list... including my fake account.
@awillis13 I love that you know how many days you have left. I haven't counted yet. All I know is that I just finished week 3 of a 16 week semester, plus a week for spring break and 5 weeks of instructor-only time. I've been a little afraid to actually count the days.
@teacher_mom , my TMI FFFC is similar, but probably worse.
My libido is also crazy high (for me), plus relieving it also helps my back, BUT DH has had no interest in months, so I've been having 'me time' instead. Of course I'd rather have that time to connect with DH, but if he's not willing, what other choice do I have? I do feel bad that first tri I was so sick I couldn't make it work, and now we've flip flopped.
I have no idea how to tag Teacher Mom (???) but I just have to say that my husband gets soooo sad when he hears about pregnant women like you! He would give anything for me to agree to sneak off to do it while our kids watched TV!! #1 My libido just isn't that high and #2 I really don't like to try and get it on with the kids up because the worry of them trying to find us completely kills the vibe for me. Like, it's impossible for me to get into it.

Re: Car seats. It seems each state has its own requirements which makes things a bit confusing. DS was a big boy and hit 20lb before his 1st birthday. I vividly remember our pediatrician joking that "He is certainly big enough to sit forward, but still too young so don't turn him around until 12 months". When he turned 1, she said we could turn his car seat around. I'm attaching a SS from the mass gov site which we checked against at the time (and it seems to be the same today). Since that time, new recommendations about waiting longer have been released. The problem is that so many first time parents (as we were with DS) go by the law and recommendation of pediatricians. We didn't see the harm and was also the WORST passenger rear-facing. He still hates moving backwards (eg on rides). He would scream his face off like someone was murdering him. Needless to say, DD (14 months) is still rear-facing based on the new recommendations and I don't care how much she protests. She is a much better passenger than DS was, but even if she wasn't oh well! The problem is that other first time parents I know in MA are still getting the below guidelines and older pediatrician recommendations that LO can turn face forward. I don't think it is always a matter of "I know better, but I don't care".
@JAGinMI your DH and mine should talk. Last night he propositioned me, 'you literally don't have to do anything, it'll be like three minutes max, I swear.' But I hadn't showered since the morning and I was tired and blaaah. So I promised him tonight I would be better prepared.
DD weighed 20lbs at 6 months, haha. In NC I think the law is 1 but suggestion is 2, but I'm going to keep her rear facing until she starts to reject it. She's not in the car much really so I figure she can stand to be a little squished in the name of safety. If we were doing a long road trip and she was over 2 I might flip her, but I doubt that's going to happen with a newborn, so we should be good. her carseat is rear facing up to 40lbs so we have plenty of time, though I should probably check the height restrictions as she's in the 75th percentile for height and might outgrow rear facing in height before weight.
I'm working from home today just because I didn't feel like going to the office and I want to have 15 minutes to myself at some point.
My FFFC is that I was really hoping DD would wake up with a temp or cold. This would explain her crazy attitude last night where she threw a fit for TWO HOURS. Unfortunately, it's just terrible-two's. I would have love to have taken today off to cuddle with her. Darn her need for independence!
There is no law about rear facing where I live (NE), which I think is quite silly. The only law regarding child restraints is that they must be in a car seat of some kind until they are 6. That leaves the door open for a whole lot of crazy.
DS is 21 lbs at 9 months and his convertible seat allows for FF at 20 lbs, but just because it's technically allowed doesn't mean it's safe!

I think the law in KY is similar saying they have to be in a seat until 8. The ridiculousness doesn't stop at FFing 10 month olds. People around here think 3yr olds can be in boosters with just a seat belt.

My son only weighs twenty pounds at 15 months. He's going to be rear facing forever at this point! My mom told me that it is the stupidest rule she has ever heard of and doesn't he get motion sick watching everything out my review window. Um, idk, ask him? And if it's so dumb, are you telling me you don't want your grandkids to be safe?!
My FFFC is that I just ate half a sleeve of thin mint Girl Scout cookies.
My confession is that I haven't had sexy time with the hubs pretty much since I got pregnant. I felt beyond terrible in the first tri. He would ask and even the thought of it made me want to vomit. We've talked about trying sometime soon but then last week at the ultrasound he said something to the effect of I don't know if I want to have sex with you knowing our daughter is in there and so active. Felt like I'd hit the jackpot!
Yes to my mint and chocolate loving friends! Remember way back when I posted my mom's UO that she hates choco and mint together? There were so many of us who agreed. Happy to jump in with thin mint lovers! Putting in the freezer is a MUST!
DS was just diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy so we passed on cookies this year. I'm SO sad.
I don't know WHERE yalls girl scouts are... but we have 4 ladies here at work literally with a stash they sell all day long... and I've had 2 come to my door in the last couple weeks.
@Wearmi1 I found some Girl Scouts set up outside of our Walmart two weeks ago. I bought 5 boxes ($20 worth) and we still have a box and a half left! So proud of my hubby and I for rationing or stash!
I also have no desire to have sex. I normally have a lower libido and would be fine with like, once a month or so.... My husband would be fine with every day. So, in order to stop arguing about it we have become the couple that schedules sex. It's Friday night for us. And to be honest, I'm dreading it. Intimacy is a huge part of my husbands love language. For me, I think that buying him something special at the grocery, washing his gross clothes from work, and not stabbing him when his alarm clock goes off for an hour and half is showing my love he disagrees
So I just took a looksy at the girl scouts of Western Washington's website..... clearly I live in an area where these girls are on their own plan. Cookies aren't available for sale until March. Why me?????? Why??????

@kassyfry DH is the same way with sex. I just try to do other "stuff" for him if you know what I mean. It's less effort for me! Plus it doesn't feel the same anymore and it's sometimes uncomfortable so I don't get excited to do it very offten. It's not as good for me anymore!!
@kassyfry DH and I are the same way. He wants it even more now that my boobs are bigger, and even though I am bothered by my growing belly, he doesn't seem to be at all.

You would THINK! Maybe I will ask the pediatrician at DS next appointment and see if she can clarify.
I haven't seen any girl scout cookies yet. I need some thin mints too!!
My FFFC: I haven't done any work for the past three hours.
I ate a burrito for dinner the last two nights, and I'm already planning the ingredients to make a breakfast burrito in the morning. Give me all of the mexican food!!!
ETA: My husband has agreed to burrito casserole for dinner. Hopefully this phase passes soon... I feel obsessed with burritos....
I hate bikers. The obnoxious ones who ride slowly in atlanta traffic. It's rush hour in the shittiest traffic city. Get the eff out of my way and let me get home.
My son turned 2 in November and I was planning on keeping him RF until closer to 3 or at least until this baby comes but then we got a mini van this week with a DVD player and he wants to be able to see it when we drive to Grandma's house. So we turned him FF in my car. He's still RF in our other car. I'm really conflicted and guilty about this.
I know food FFC are kind of lame but I've eater a Totinos Party Pizza for lunch and/or dinner almost everyday for the past 3 weeks. I can't stop. And they are the cheapest, crappiest pizzas. I've even eaten them over ordering good take out pizza. There is something wrong with me.
@JessyKV I love Totinos Party Pizzas! I had the biggest craving for one the other day and went and got one. It does make zero sense. They are barely pizzas but so good.
