@nda_roxybabe sounds like he will come around when the baby arrives. So as long as you don't need to make permanent decisions in advance, it shouldn't be a problem. And you never know. You might have no "baby blues," you could have a very routine/easy delivery, and you could have an easy baby who eats well and sleeps pretty well. With all of that, yeah, you could go back to work at 4 weeks! It's just unlikely that ALL of the chips will fall into place. The vast majority of babies at 6 weeks are waking up 3-4x a night. This was one of our problems. When DS was 8 weeks old and I was back at work, I was getting no more than 3-4 hours of sleep per night. He was still terribly underweight and feeding poorly. On leave that was true but I was good about sleeping when the baby slept and usually got closer to a healthy amount in total during the day. But once I was back I was not. I don't know why my supervisor thought that was better than me not being there.
