It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
As for zofran and thalidomide (a more dangerous-for-fetuses drug that had been prescribed for morning sickness long ago), sometimes there are errors and drugs have really bad side effects and should not have been prescribed. But at least there is a process by which the FDA approves drugs for particular purposes, and the process is based on research. Obviously there are failures within that process, but there are also checks and balances. To say something like, "well, I heard there are XYZ side effects in 5% of cases with this big pharma drug, so I'm going to go with this natural plant instead that has NO research showing anything bad about it!" is SUCH a dumb idea! There's no research showing bad effects of the plant because there's no research on the plant one way or another!
My chemistry friends on facebook are always posting comics, memes, etc about people who want "chemical-free" products. When, um, everything is a chemical! One that I remember is some simple formula for a natural, "4-ingredient" cleaner or bug spray or something, and one of the ingredients is detergent. Seriously, people?
@kat81 I agree that the FDA has a significant research based approval process that does its best to anticipate adverse reactions, but the trouble is that most of those drugs are not tested on pregnant women (for obvious reasons). This is why most drugs have warnings guiding pregnant and nursing women to discuss with their doctor before consuming. Traditionally, most research subjects are men, and only recently has their been a shift to include women due to the potential of pregnancy. My question is how are we ever going to get the research we all are looking for on medical marijuana if no one is willing or shamed from actually doing it. I know plenty of women who have consumed during pregnancy under doctor's guidance, but then again, I live in a state where it is legal and there is exhaustive testing on the products.
I'm dreading the dentist tomorrow but know I ought to go. Last time I was there, I had to have all of my amalgam fillings replaced with ceramic and they couldn't get me sufficiently numb despite several needle attempts, so I had to endure feeling the drilling. Not my idea of a good time.

I didn't want to know if I did or didn't but my hysterical finance (well at least he thinks he's funny) tried to make me feel better by saying... it was just a little bit and it just kind of looked like "xyz"
re: mirrors
no way! they asked if I wanted one and I told them no. Fiance did say it was funny though because the Dr was kind of playing with DD's hair between pushes when she was close to coming out. Now that I actually type that out it seems a bit more creepy then it seemed at the time!
