@bestofjoy Letrozole is not that bad! I've also done Clomid and stims with Follistim, and I'd say the letrozole was the easiest! GL I have polycystic ovaries and with letrozole got at least 1 or 2 large follicles on only 7.5 mg. Just for an idea about what I went through.

@JamieH2000 we are on the exact same protocol...again! I had my blood test today and haven't ovulated so I'll go back on Tuesday and then start estrogen on Wednesday. I got an LH surge on my home ovulation test this morning so I should ovulate by Tuesday. I picked up all my meds today, baseline is on the 19th and vivelle estrogen until the 17th. On the 21st I start injections, 2 units Menopur am and 300 u Gonal-f pm. On 24th I'll start Garnilix. Retrieval estimated for Feb 1. This is my last shot at using my eggs with the Navy clinic. I have both doctors behind me 100% which is much different than my 1st go-around. I'm still recovering from my 1st round devastation so they are treating me with kid gloves.
I'm blessed, $8k worth of meds covered with Military IVF program. I just pay costs of outside lab Embrologist once they retrieve my embies. FX it works this time...I need prayers!

@mandasand- fx you can start on wed! We will be just a few days apart! Do you do ganirelax with your priming? I have both times, though it's one of my least fav shots since it burns. I am so happy the clinic is treating you kindly this time and your meds are covered! My new clinic has been much more responsive and they are going to be super aggressive with my meds, so hopefully this will be the cycle!

@bestofjoy Well, unfortunately I don't know what happened with Clomid Bc Gym prescribed it and only did day 21 progesterone levels. Showed level that was acceptable for ovulation, but now I know letting them do that without even a baseline ultrasound was a rookie mistake. My RE 4 months later suggested letrozole because less side effects, and I didn't pregnant on clomid. We kept on until max 6 months .

They were able to get 10 eggs, but I feel awful at the moment. Crampy and swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I get fertilization report tomorrow. We are using icsi so I'm hoping for a good number.

Afm.... not sure if I updated from yesterday's monitoring: 18 follies and going back in Monday for monitoring. Hoping it's ok for me to trigger Tuesday since I absolutely can't do a Wednesday retrieval. Plus everyone in my house is sick (Mom, Husband) and I am fighting off whatever they have.... so pissed for this to be happening now with retrieval so close.... worried my dh's sperm will be all jacked up
We're adding an extra few days of birth control because in the 500 appts I've had this last year I forgot to get a routine pap...... seriously smacking myself!! (I assumed I'd be pregnant so I was also putting it off) So I may be end of Jan/into Feb for stims but I'm loving following everyone else's journeys

@bestofjoy I took letrozole for my last IUI and I didn't stim all that well from it. I'm doing IVF with a new doctor now who didn't really give me any choice of medication and he prescribed menopur. So ladies from the doctor get Gonal-f/Follistim... But he didn't give it to me. I'm only expecting around 6 or 7.
@JamieH2000 I'm having the IVF out of the country... But the doctor's protocol is to do a mini-IVF on all of his patients. Largely to avoid OHSS and overstimulating. His focus is on quality versus quantity. It's actually not a bad protocol for me because of my low AMH. I'd probably wouldn't get tons of eggs anyways.
@sleepyrn Mini-IVF's use a lot less stims in a deliberate effort to produce less follicles. The thinking is to produce quality over quantity. The metaphor they gave is that if you put a high power engine in a 1960's car, it wouldn't make the car go any faster. Versus slowly ramping it up, you may get more results. I have a low AMH so by default my eggs are't the highest quality.

Can I join this group? I'm currently doing a mini-IVF. CD 1 for me was January 2nd and my egg retrieval will hopefully be next week. I've been stemming (225g Menopur) for the past 6 days.

Dec 2016/Jan 2017 Round 2 was a bust. 6 eggs, Only 1 embryo made it, no transfer
FET #2 cancelled 10/17 due to uterine polyps. Postponed until 9/2018 due to hip replacement.
FET #3 9/11/18 Uterine scratch and antihistamine protocol/lovenox done this time. 2 AA hatching blasts put in. BFP 9/20/18!!

@bestofjoy I used letrazol for a couple months with times intercourse and had no trouble with it at all.

Afm.... not sure if I updated from yesterday's monitoring: 18 follies and going back in Monday for monitoring. Hoping it's ok for me to trigger Tuesday since I absolutely can't do a Wednesday retrieval. Plus everyone in my house is sick (Mom, Husband) and I am fighting off whatever they have.... so pissed for this to be happening now with retrieval so close.... worried my dh's sperm will be all jacked up

We're adding an extra few days of birth control because in the 500 appts I've had this last year I forgot to get a routine pap...... seriously smacking myself!! @JamieH2000 I'm having the IVF out of the country... But the doctor's protocol is to do a mini-IVF on all of his patients. Largely to avoid OHSS and overstimulating. His focus is on quality versus quantity. It's actually not a bad protocol for me because of my low AMH. I'd probably wouldn't get tons of eggs anyways.
@sleepyrn Mini-IVF's use a lot less stims in a deliberate effort to produce less follicles. The thinking is to produce quality over quantity. The metaphor they gave is that if you put a high power engine in a 1960's car, it wouldn't make the car go any faster. Versus slowly ramping it up, you may get more results. I have a low AMH so by default my eggs are't the highest quality.

AFM after 4 days of stims morning scan revealed 5 follicles, bummed as I was hoping for more but on the bright side is that both ovaries joined the party as last round I had none from the left.
