August is a feisty group. See the Gender Guesses post. One responder points out that there is a difference between gender and sex and is shot down, and is later shot down by a bumper with a "gender non-conforming" child (as if that completely invalidates that there is a difference between sex and gender). My face seeing all the love its supporting this ignorance:
Needless to say, I think I'm going to have to lurk around there for awhile
The most annoying one to me was "I'm jealous most of you will be finding out sex/gender"...ummm what's with the /...clearly you know there is a difference in the words so how bout just using them correctly mmmmk?
Lurking from Aug. I'm the one who pointed out they mean sex, not gender. I left them alone for a while but I agree there is just so much ignorance in that post. So I had to post one more time with some education on the topic.

@sls I have a friend who was told by a great aunt that if she wanted to have a boy she should do it doggy style, and then proceeded to ask her if she knew what that meant.
@lizerspitz. THAT. IS.AWESOME. I can't wait until I am old enough to say weird shit like that and just blame it on age.

@sls, I received so many tips on how to conceive a boy. I shudder to think about it. After we found out it was a boy, the nudges I received at Christmas were even more awkward.
I found the BabyCenter to our precious Bump. The board is called "Chit Chat" and it's under the "Specialty" groups. Posts with titles like (and I'm paraphrasing here) "My SO found sex videos/pics of me and my ex," "womanly expectations," and "pregnancy drama." My inner drama monster is like

I am not familiar with how baby center is set up and my phone is being none helpful. Anyone got a link to the main chit chat board or speciality group section?

It's on TB!
Where?!
If you go to the list of all the boards there's a group called Specialty. Then choose Chit Chat under that.
I just got sucked into the babycenter site. Holy jeebus, are these women for real?
I spent all of DD's pregnancy in BC or a BC FB group, including an IRL group of women. I was waaaaaay too patient with it, and everything went down in flames. I wish I'd found TB back then. You ladies don't put up with the crazy they seemed to embrace and relish. Thank you.

There is way too dysfunction in some of those chit chat threads for me to even enjoy the drama.
Yeah, I'm more of a fan of people getting told off for bad behavior, probably because of the aforementioned terrible experience with my last group. "I don't know who the father is." Um, what do you want me to say? You know the answer.

Yeah, I saw you invited her to lurk over here @neludelu. It really wasn't all that strange of a request to me and she's okay in my book for outing herself as a drama lurker. I do see the other side of it like @Stankonia2014 and others who posted about it being her first post in the group; can kind of look strange. She did handle herself very well, could've turned into a GBCB very quickly.
@kassyfry I'm sure I'll miss the response from the OP, but you'd think ladies on that BMB would get it by now? They have had an usually high number of similar posts...
A belated note of thanks to all who are helping me out by posting these links. Y'all saved me last week when my ob was running an hour late with that crazy name thread, and have already provided some laughs today. I hope to pay it forward soon enough!
Lurking The August UO has a lady who has been smoking weed every day, and a FTM who thinks people shouldn't be allowed to only have 1 kid
The shit show that that thread is makes it hard to look away. The weed mom came back and is saying her "research" makes it safe. I was a friendly neighbor and alerted May of this as well.
That August board is something else. I just can't fathom how some women think it's ok to ingest illegal drugs while pregnant. Whether your mid wife approves or not. How does that lady even know if what she's getting isn't laced with something else unless she's growing it herself. Do our babies not have enough issues that could possibly come up while developing that you have to be so selfish as to ingest illegal drugs? I mean I live in a state where weed is legal and available pretty much within 2-3 minute drive from wherever you are and if you want to smoke it/eat it..... cool! Just not while you're pregnant.
And the other ignorant chick who thinks being an only child is a syndrome... I just can't with her. I'm an only child. As far as I can tell I'm fine. I mean a may ride a broom to work occasionally but other than that I'm pretty normal :-) Furthermore after the pregnancy I've had thus far I'm not sure I want to do this again and some ignorant female on the internet isn't going to convince me I'm doing any disservice to my daughter by not having another baby.
What is interesting to me, as a non-recreational user... is that the more she shared about what she was doing the less I was appalled by it.
Feel free to flame me, but I did take Zofran last pregnancy just to be able to keep something down and don't really trust Rx medications all that much... I HATE taking anything, ever. I do have HG per my OB this time and if I needed some serious medications to keep me hydrated and nourished, I doubt I would resort to using weed in any form but probably more so because it is illegal where I'm from, against my Corporate policy, etc. but not because I think it would be worse than Zofran or other Rx medications. I'm a big believer in alternative medicine... I've seen chiropractors, acupuncturists, herbalists, and integrative medicine doctors... I do yoga, gua sha, myofascial release/massage, essential oils... I believe in gut health/link to overall health... however, I do see @Wearmi1's point, esp. about sourcing it and quality, that is a big risk to take.
Also, I think repeatedly beating her down in that thread is doing no one any good... it won't change her POV and actions.
As someone who is pretty firmly going to be one and done for a wide variety of reasons, I laugh at anyone having an opinion on us doing otherwise. We've already had family doubt our decision and be pretty adamant that "you need at least two."
I think the marijuana mama is punking everyone. Even if she's serious, she's here to stir up drama. I bet she even knows May and June have the popcorn out.

I want you to know that I'm working from home today and I read this and thought to myself "POPCORN. YES." And now I am making some.
@michaela0704, yeah, I'm more appalled by 'one and done' poster than I am by marijuana user. I think there's such a negative connotation with marijuana, but after having two children with seizure disorders and a husband with PTSD, I've researched the many benefits of cannabis, CBD oil, etc. After she said tinctures and edibles without THC and such, I'm not as appalled by her anymore. My father's doctor said that certain strands of marijuana will help him with the nausea from chemo.
@Stankonia2014 when she shared tinctures and edibles is where I was more or less ok with it too... but it took her saying that much for me to jump ship to being not appalled by it.
May be UO but...Meh...I had to research a ton of different drugs that we'd were open to our adopted child being exposed to. All I could find was anecdotal evidence that it wasn't healthy whereas alcohol, meth, coke, heroin there is a ton of scary research on the impact to baby. I'd be far more worried about some 'allowed' prescription meds women take. And of all the drugs we researched we actually said a hard no to any alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
Man I could go for some weed lately. Lol or a cold beer. She could have mentioned the THC part in the beginning and a lot more people would have been ok with it.
