August is a feisty group. See the Gender Guesses post. One responder points out that there is a difference between gender and sex and is shot down, and is later shot down by a bumper with a "gender non-conforming" child (as if that completely invalidates that there is a difference between sex and gender). My face seeing all the love its supporting this ignorance:

Needless to say, I think I'm going to have to lurk around there for awhile :)
The most annoying one to me was "I'm jealous most of you will be finding out sex/gender"...ummm what's with the /...clearly you know there is a difference in the words so how bout just using them correctly mmmmk?
Lurking from Aug. I'm the one who pointed out they mean sex, not gender. I left them alone for a while but I agree there is just so much ignorance in that post. So I had to post one more time with some education on the topic.  :D

I found the BabyCenter to our precious Bump. The board is called "Chit Chat" and it's under the "Specialty" groups. Posts with titles like (and I'm paraphrasing here) "My SO found sex videos/pics of me and my ex," "womanly expectations," and "pregnancy drama." My inner drama monster is like
The vaccines one was a decent read.

  • Woah. The one called "my best friend and her baby" (something like that) under Chit Chat is pretty good.
  • I am not familiar with how baby center is set up and my phone is being none helpful. Anyone got a link to the main chit chat board or speciality group section?

If you go to the list of all the boards there's a group called Specialty. Then choose Chit Chat under that.

I spent all of DD's pregnancy in BC or a BC FB group, including an IRL group of women. I was waaaaaay too patient with it, and everything went down in flames. I wish I'd found TB back then. You ladies don't put up with the crazy they seemed to embrace and relish. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm more of a fan of people getting told off for bad behavior, probably because of the aforementioned terrible experience with my last group. "I don't know who the father is." Um, what do you want me to say? You know the answer.

  • How do you guys feel about "BMB lurkers give me your best thread" in A17? OP is flamed just doing some innocent drama-hunting.

I talked about this a few posts up in here. I felt the same way you did. Others did not.
  • @MrsCaliRN, I was not a fan of her post (and expressed that), but thought she handled herself well.
  • Yeah, I saw you invited her to lurk over here @neludelu. It really wasn't all that strange of a request to me and she's okay in my book for outing herself as a drama lurker. I do see the other side of it like @Stankonia2014 and others who posted about it being her first post in the group; can kind of look strange. She did handle herself very well, could've turned into a GBCB very quickly.

  • @kassyfry I'm sure I'll miss the response from the OP, but you'd think ladies on that BMB would get it by now?  They have had  an usually high number of similar posts...
  • @kat0607 haha I WISH someone was just punking you guys, that would explain a lot...seriously what is going on over there????
  • A belated note of thanks to all who are helping me out by posting these links. Y'all saved me last week when my ob was running an hour late with that crazy name thread, and have already provided some laughs today. I hope to pay it forward soon enough!

This is exactly why I needed to figured out the gifs! Just for that thread... when even Kanye knows you're crazy, time to evaluate
  • What is interesting to me, as a non-recreational user... is that the more she shared about what she was doing the less I was appalled by it.

Feel free to flame me, but I did take Zofran last pregnancy just to be able to keep something down and don't really trust Rx medications all that much... I HATE taking anything, ever.  I do have HG per my OB this time and if I needed some serious medications to keep me hydrated and nourished, I doubt I would resort to using weed in any form but probably more so because it is illegal where I'm from, against my Corporate policy, etc. but not because I think it would be worse than Zofran or other Rx medications.  I'm a big believer in alternative medicine... I've seen chiropractors, acupuncturists, herbalists, and integrative medicine doctors... I do yoga, gua sha, myofascial release/massage, essential oils... I believe in gut health/link to overall health... however, I do see @Wearmi1's point, esp. about sourcing it and quality, that is a big risk to take.

Also, I think repeatedly beating her down in that thread is doing no one any good... it won't change her POV and actions.

  • As someone who is pretty firmly going to be one and done for a wide variety of reasons, I laugh at anyone having an opinion on us doing otherwise. We've already had family doubt our decision and be pretty adamant that "you need at least two."

  • @Stankonia2014 when she shared tinctures and edibles is where I was more or less ok with it too... but it took her saying that much for me to jump ship to being not appalled by it.
  • That said, I have never smoked or used marijuana in my life and it's not something I personally would ever use while pregnant.

May be UO but...Meh...I had to research a ton of different drugs that we'd were open to our adopted child being exposed to.  All I could find was anecdotal evidence that it wasn't healthy whereas alcohol, meth, coke, heroin there is a ton of scary research on the impact to baby.  I'd be far more worried about some 'allowed' prescription meds women take.
And of all the drugs we researched we actually said a hard no to any alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

  • Man I could go for some weed lately. Lol or a cold beer.
She could have mentioned the THC part in the beginning and a lot more people would have been ok with it.
