Hello all! I am new here, just a few months so far TTC so I know patience is a virtue at this point! I have seen all the frustrations about the blue dye EPTs and know all the basics of evap lines and all of that! What I want to know is, is anyone familiar with false positives on a Walgreens EPT?? (Actual false positive - pee for 5 seconds on the stick, wait 2 minutes, wonderful solid blue line albeit slightly lighter than the control line, still there days later, read the test in the 2-10 minute window and the line was blue and DH was right there to confirm it wasn't a hallucination and was in the limited 2-10 minute window). Last weekend I had THREE what I thought were BFP! One at night, one the next morning and one the day after that in the afternoon. Went to Dr and got 2 BFN tests. I was so disappointed I didn't even think to ask for a blood test. I know there can be evap lines and misdone tests and even faulty tests...but 3 what look like legit BFP in a row?! Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance and good luck to all TTC!
Please read the newbie guide pinned at the top of the board and lurk. We can't tell you what's going on. It could have been faulty tests, you could have had diluted urine at the doctor's office. The only way to know for sure is to buy a new test, a different brand, and test again. In fact, you could have done that in the three day waiting period before posting. If it's positive, please do not update here and move on to your BMB.
ETA if it's negative, please join us in the daily threads. This board and its members have a wealth of information that will help you while TTC and are a great support system if you join the community.

@eggplantface Thanks so much for your reply! I am not sure if you know but the app actually won't let you post without first lurking for a required time period. So all newbies have do that first To be clear, I don't expect, nor did I ask anyone on an Internet forum to tell me if I am pregnant LOL!! I just want to know if this is a common error with Walgreens tests so I know not to use them again or if it was freak lighting!
@lindybird If I were you I'd immediately go to the store and get about 5 different brands and use them all. If they were all BFP I would believe that over the test at the dr until you get a blood test. Which I would also schedule right away. From what I've read, false positives are rare unless you are doing some kind of assisted reproduction and there's leftover hcg in your system from the shots.
Also, maybe change the title of your post to something that doesn't make your BFP obvious and includes a TW. Sometimes it hurts for us to see these kind of drive by posts when we've been trying so long and have never seen any kind of positive test

Got it. Did you get your period? *TW* If so it could have been a chemical pregnancy that was gone before you tested at the doctor. *End TW* Or yeah, a faulty test, but like @bluejeanbabi05 said, false positives are rare outside blue dye tests. I don't have any experience using Walgreen's brand. Most here use Wondfos because they're cheap and we have POAS addictions.
If you didn't get your period I'd get a new type of test and do what the meme says^^^

@bluejeanbabi05 Good point! I edited the title and included a TW. And I am going to wait a few more days and see if my next period comes. *TW* My last "period" was early and spotty so I do know it could have been a CP but there was no bleeding afterwards at all so i was thinking possible implantation?? *END TW*
@eggplantface the walgreens tests are blue dye tests, which brings me back to my original question...are those not accurate? (again, not evap lines, just straight up 2 minutes after peeing on the stick blue line). I will check out those other tests - the price of drugstore even generic adds up so fast!!
@lindybird Hi! I'm relatively new here and mostly just lurk. But, to answer your question, yes! I think the Walgreens brand EPT tests are garbage. *TW* I'm breastfeeding my 8 month old DS and haven't had a PP AF. However, each month I take a HPT just to be sure. In December, I took the Walgreens brand EPT (they were on sale so I thought I'd try them out!) and immediately got a BFP blue line well within the time limit. I was shocked and excited, but also very skeptical. It was a two pack, so the next day I took another one and same thing. However, I just wasn't sure. I went to the store and bought a pink dye test (which seem to be more reliable and recommended by these ladies) and sure enough completely white. It was cruel and disheartening.... End TW* So long story short, I do not recommend the blue dye walgreens test at all. I would get a pink dye test and test again!
Good luck! If you end up sticking around, read the newbie guide and tell us about yourself in the weekly intro post! ☺
Please don't assume that because your last period was unusual for you that it could have been a CP. Your period can randomly be different than normal and it doesn't mean anything. Without a BFP you have no idea if it was a CP. It can be hurtful to other posters that have had losses to see posts where people assume they had a loss just because AF was different.
People dirty-delete posts like yours all the time. It's totally standard for a qfp. Hot tip, maybe don't come into an established community, claim you lurked but post something that you wouldn't have if you had actually lurked, and criticize a regular? We're happy to have new people but not at the expense of regulars.
@adirat You are so awesome. Seems like you and @cheframsay and @heatherdubrow make quite the team! Hope you enjoy each others company ☺ Feel free to quote all my posts - none of them are going anywhere!
Meanwhile in relevant to my question replies, thank you, again @Caityyyy for actually answering my question!
If old timers @adirat@cheframsay and @heatherdubrow cared to use their apparent long-time status here to point me in the direction of some board I missed in several days of going through various threads and general Google searches and key word searches here, including searching terms like "Walgreens" I will be happy to follow you all leading the way!
If for now you just get off on roasting newbs without actually addressing their questions, well, you lovelies do you. Ain't nobody got time for internet bullies at our age! LOL
PS @LadyMillil Those are good points. If my AF wasn't as regular as a Swiss clock I would shrug off abnormalities. But *TW* bizarre spotting for me is just that, bizarre. *End TW*
After learning that the Walgreens tests apparently can actually be faulty, I filed a complaint with them and know to never use those tests again! And obviously I don't recommend them for anyone else!
This particular board isn't big on random new posts. We have daily threads we all comment and support eachother on. Your question would have been perfectly fine there after you introduced yourself on the newb thread. They meant that if you had actually lurked on this board, you would have easily seen that. Which is completely true.
@lindybird I've been here maybe a month, so slow your roll. But I am truly honored to be lumped in with @ChefRamsay and @adirat because they are awesome. I'm seriously laughing at being called out.
@lindybird 1. Your question was answered -- comprehensively, in my opinion. I don't have more to add than PPs already did.
2. I actually had no problem until you criticized someone for QFPing. If you had lurked, you would know that this happens in most posts because of how often dirty deletes happen. It's just the nature of the beast. And like I said, I had no problem -- but I do have a problem with new posters criticizing my friends on here.
3. If you had lurked, you would have known that your post both needed a TW and that it isn't kind or socially graceful to put a BFP in the title of your post when you are posting here. I give you credit for hearing those responses and changing your post title. But the fact remains that I doubt you lurked by the way you titled this post originally.
4. Like I said in my first post, we are happy to have new people. I welcome anyone here in good faith. But based on your responses now, I don't really think that you are.
OP no one roasted you, actually they were super tame considering your ignoring board culture despite insisting you lurked well enough to know it. You were the one who was rude calling out a valued member of this group for quoting you, which again if you had actually lurked you would know is done regularly here and does not denote any animosity.
Give an honest apology and join the weekly threads. You'll learn a ton from these amazing women.

Whoa. No one here was as nasty to you as you just were to us. I had a fantastic childhood, and am really loving my adulthood. And no, regular life stress, anger, and frustration do not have any bearing on fertility. You received a tiny bit of well deserved snark and in response you spewed such out of proportion hate. Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you.

Sometimes in order to understand others (this forum for example), you have to think about others. When you say that you lurked, you actually only used this as your personal google and didn't read the dailies or the pinned post at the top for newbs. That's not lurking. That's not getting to know the tone and values of an established group. That's not being anything other than selfish.
PS @LadyMillil Those are good points. If my AF wasn't as regular as a Swiss clock I would shrug off abnormalities. But *TW* bizarre spotting for me is just that, bizarre. *End TW*

You're normal until you're not. If spotting isn't common for you and you're not KTFU, you should probably go to the dr for an sti screening. https://www.girlshealth.gov/body/sti/symptoms.html Ooh look I did the googling for you!
