@TScalei Good luck with saving for the house - house searching is lots of fun!
@reneeannemm Welcome back! I'm glad you have a plan in place for the cycles going forward, and I'm glad acupuncture has been calming for you (though sorry he/she's been out for the last two weeks!). I see myself going down the Clomid route as well as I haven't been ovulating with any regularity.
@sprkls8506 It feels like springtime here today - it's in the 50s! GL with the TWW.
I just have to say...the first day back at work after the holidays sucks.
@SoonToBeMommaHowe I was under the impression that you should really be monitored while taking Clomid, but maybe some dr's feel differently. I started my first clomid cycle this month with clomid and i was scanned every few days until I triggered and then we did the iui the next day. Maybe it's different because I triggered with ovridrel instead of ovulating naturally? either way, I would ask the dr for scans to be sure you're responding appropriately.
@RiverSong15 I like your idea of dry january, i should try that!
@reneeannemm hey girl! sorry to see you're still around but i'm glad you have a plan in place for next steps.
@justsuzie I'm sorry you're still waiting on your period, that sucks so bad. I hope it comes really soon.
@TScalei i have a love/hate relationship with opk, more like hate/hate. so annoying.

@TScalei no I had the opposite problem, rarely getting a real true positive but I got a temp shift every month. I've since been diagnosed with pcos and ovulation dysfunction that I guess that explains why opk's were always a struggle. I know girls on here have said they've had multiple days of positives, hopefully someone can shed some insight. is having a long surge a thing?

@brooklyngirl18 - Im not really sure bec Ive always stopped testing after the first day of a positive but since this is my first cycle temping I wanted to see if the opks lined up with temp shift. Now im wondering if i misinterpreted the darkened lines on the wondfos on the first day and maybe it wasn't a true positive. Im going to test when I get home from work after a 3 hour hold and see what happens. Hoping its a lighter line.
Random question on Wondfos, for the OPKs, does the presence of a test line indicate a surge? I've been using Easy @ Home OPKs, with these the test line can be present but if it is lighter than the control than it is not a positive. Sometimes it's really easy, sometimes not. Last month the test line didn't even show up, this month it did every time.

4) Just going to try to be more on top of projects this year. I always seem to have 3 or 4 projects going at once, so they take forever to finish. I'm going to try to finish one before starting another. I think I'm setting myself up for failure there since we move again in 3 months.
@TScalei We pretty
much have low levels of LH in our system at all times, so you should
almost always see a faint line on OPKs. With faint lines before O, it
means you're at least 24-48 hours from O. Some women get "fade-in"
patterns over a day or two, and others go from faint to positive very
quickly. Just keep testing, and your own pattern will become clear.
What's your normal CM pattern? Usually an OPK will turn positive 24-48
hours before O (when CM dries up), so your CM patterns could help you
guess at when the OPK may turn positive. It's also good you're testing
multiple times a day- FMU is bad for OPKs (almost always negative then).
Afternoons and evenings are better. I'm glad you're getting the hang of
temping though!
1. Introduce yourself (if you're new) **TW, LC mentioned** Hi everyone, new here. My name is Toni and I'm 25 (26 in 10 days, Friday the 13th woot woot). My husband is also 25 and we have a 14 month old DS. I just suffered my first loss last Monday at 6W5D and have slowly been processing it. I was super excited to be expecting again but never really had a great feeling about the pregnancy. My MC kind of snuck up on me. I had no spotting, no cramping; nothing until it actually happened. Besides just intuitively feeling like it wasn't going to end well, there were no other "signs". I MC on my own, at home.

3. Rants/Raves Rant: We hadn't even told anyone we were pregnant yet, so now we're trying to figure out how to tell our families this news. Trying to maintain a happy facade in front of people you see just about everyday is difficult. Rave: my midwife called with my first blood draw results letting me know my hormone levels had dropped significantly.. so that's good. Hoping it continues that way.
4. GTKY: New Years resolutions? Yes/No? What are they if you made any? None really. I've been working on an online course to get a job to work from home so I'm hoping to finish that in the next month or so. Oh, and to clean and organize the garage.
@justsuzie Sorry you're still waiting on AF. Hopefully your doc can get you a solution.
@SoontobeMommaHowe You absolutely need to be monitored, and testing needs to be complete (HSG and SA). If your tubes are closed or your husbands SA is bad, all the Clomid in the world won't help. And you'll waste IUI cycles in the meantime. At the very least, you'll also need an ultrasound before you start TI and do the IUI. What if you have a cyst? Clomid will make that worse. What if you overrespond and run the risk of higher order multiples of you continue the cycle? What if you risk OHSS and your RE doesn't recognize your risk without an US? You could end up the next Jon and Kate + 8. What if you underresponded? Then you'd have wasted a Clomid cycle for nothing, and even worse, your RE won't know what to change about the next cycle.
@reneeannemm Welcome back lady! I've missed you around these parts, although I'm sad you still need to be here. Hopefully you don't have to wait too much longer for your rainbow.
@TScalei Sorry for the confusing OPKs! Hopefully they fade soon and you see your temp shift!
@toniherdt. So sorry for your loss. It is a difficult process. It is hard to be around others and act normal. I had a difficult time with that too. Be kind to yourself and welcome...this is a great community
@justsuzie Yes!! I've had a very strict no fairweather friend policy for all of my adult life and it serves me very well. It's just with loss and infertility following - plus living three cities in a few years - my already high standards need to get even higher. I need so much right now and I have no idea how to ask for it because most days I'm not even certain what it is. Though, I did get two wonderful cards in the mail yesterday from far flung corners of the world; long time contacts, one just an old reader of my blog which really brightened my day. It's nice to be thought of, you know? Celebrations are definitely in order once your period comes: I made a lemon coconut cake with a snarky message about a clean uterus on it.
@TScalei Ahhh, househunting! Good luck! I keep up with real estate, but lololol the average cost of a house in Toronto is over $1 million, so it's just for funsies for now.
@laeberge3 I sooo highly recommend acupuncture. I didn't even believe it could help before I started, but I love the practitioner and he reduced my considerable cramping to almost nothing, stopped my five days of pre-AF spotting and I leave my sessions on a cloud. I was in a bad, bad place before I started and I credit acupuncture with a 180 on my anxiety. Though, I was wrong, my appointment isn't until next week - he's still on vacation.
@brooklyngirl18 Heyyyy, sorry you're still here, too. It's just gotta happen sometime, right?????
@RiverSong15 I figure something, sometime this year or maybe early 2018 has to work???? It stinks. FX for you this cycle!
@toniherdt Welcome, I'm very sorry for your loss. Hopefully you won't be around too long!

1. Introduce yourself (if you're new) Not new, but I've been relatively inactive for a while. See below
2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) When we finally hit the one year mark of trying in October, I called my OB's office and requested an appointment to start testing and investigating why we can't seem to conceive since our April loss. They seemed very confused by this request, but scheduled me toward the end of October. Fast forward to a week before the appointment and my period was due, and never came. So I cancelled that appointment and decided to reschedule. I never got a positive test result, but I really think I had suffered a CP. I finally got AF around Halloween, and was super duper depressed that whole week, and the beginning of Nov.
DH and I decided that we would finish out the year and go through the holiday season not trying, but not preventing. We both agreed the stress was getting to be too much for me especially. Once the new year came we'd try to schedule an RE appointment. In that month and a half of not trying, I also slacked off a lot on my TTC routine- no OPKs, no temps, and I ran out of pre-natals and never bought any more. Searched for clinics, found one, read great reviews, and made a consultation appointment for next week. I honestly can't wait to find some answers out.
3. Rants/Raves I just truly can't wait to find out our diagnoses (if any). It's one thing to know the problem and not solve it. It's incredibly frustrating to not even know the problem.
4. GTKY: New Years resolutions? Yes/No? What are they if you made any? I resolve to take more time for me, and to do more things that make me happy. Trying to find a new hobby to invest my time in. I'm tired of feeling sad, lonely, and sorry for myself all the time.
Thank you @RiverSong15. I needed that info to go to my RE prepared when they suggest no monitoring. If I had oodles more money I'd definitely offer to hire you as my personal infertility specialist

@reneeannemm Good policy to have on the friendships. I completely understand what you mean about needing a lot but not knowing what it is. I hope that you can find some support in your close friends. I've noticed that some people have put a time period on grieving which seems ludicrous to me. Everyone is different and heals differently. It really is hard to have people really understand you know? Like, I cannot even contemplate what you must be feeling with the infertility. Best of luck to you with all of this. As for the uterus cake...how funny, love it. I am convinced that AF went over seas somewhere and is being detained by rebel forces somewhere. I am about to put a bounty out on her.
@E2theB Learning new things helped me and my husband SO SO much after the miscarriage. We started a container garden, which ignited what is sure to be a lifelong passion for both of us and was a tremendous success (I'd never kept a single houseplant alive before). I learned to grind whole spices for Indian masalas and learned to cook a lot of Indian food. DH read more books than ever before, started a sourdough culture and is learning to make fancy breads. I think that's a wonderful resolution and I wish you nothing but the best as you try out new things.

@Mack2342@Uhlease13@SoontobeMommaHowe Aww, thanks! Being Type A, I read a lot before TTC to try to speed the process up. I've also spent a lot of time on the bench first waiting to TTC (thyroid issues) and then for RPL. I learned a lot lurking on TB, and ended up researching a lot of info because my coping mechanism is apparently to read all the things. I'm glad you find my info helpful - I care about all the ladies on this board and am happy to share what I know. Sometimes I wonder if I should make a career change to go into women's health. I find it really interesting.
@reneeannemm Your cooking always sounds so fabulous!!! Of all the people on the board, you're the one I'd want to invite me over for dinner first. Lol.
@E2theB I'm so sorry you hit the year mark. GL with your appointment next week. I totally understand the need for answers and a plan.
@toniherdt I'm so sorry for your loss. But welcome to the board. This is a lovely group of women.
@reneeannemm That sounds lovely. I grew herbs in containers a few summers ago. This is our first year in our new house and we do want to start a vegetable garden. I think you inspired a project my DH and I can start together - researching and planning that garden
@justsuzie She's somewhere on the seven seas trying to make her way to you through hell and high water and scurvy.
@RiverSong15 Ah, no problem, come on over we are constantly entertaining Well, except that pesky distance thing. Making crab cakes (with mock crab from Chinatown made from burdock or something weird like that), roasted potatoes, napa slaw with mandarin dressing, and cherry tomatoes with balsamic drizzle tonight. We had a sushi party on New Year's day, so I'm trying to use the oil a couple more times from frying tempura before disposing of it.
@E2theB Yes!! There is something unbelievably grounding and uplifting about growing your own food and being out there in the soil. I preserved a bunch of our tomatoes and it is just like summer in a jar when you get to tasting those.

@reneeannemm Your food always looks and sounds delicious, but especially so today because I'm on day 2 of Whole 30 and I'm lusting after all the food. I'm definitely going to pursue acupuncture and my RE's office has a location right on site so I think I'll check that one out. I need it if only for the anxiety issues I've had creeping up. I went to my GP yesterday and have a prescription for Zoloft but I'm just hesitant to start it...thinking there may be another way.
@E2theB Hope your RE testing goes well. I've just gone through a bunch of testing and am waiting for my follow-up with the RE. I hear you on wanting some sort of diagnosis. I'm quite sure I'm going to get mine - PCOS/ovulation dysfunction - but at least it'll be known and we can plan from there. GL!
@riversong15 - You should look into a career in womens health - I think you would be fantastic! I am so grateful for all of your wisdom on this Board. You can really explain things in a way that make sense and are just always so helpful! I wish I would have found this site earlier on in my ttc journey and started temping/using opks earlier. This whole experience has really taught me that knowledge is power and you really have to be your own advocate esp when it comes to healthcare.
@reneeannem - I love hearing about all of your cooking creations too. I am glad you are participating again - you were missed!
@E2theB - Im so sorry! I hope you will get some answers ( and a rainbow baby) in 2017!
@justsuzie - I agree that people put a time limit on grieving. People are sad when they first find out and then just expect you to get over it. When I told someone I was having a difficult holiday season- she seemed genuinely surprised as to why. I think that is why this process can feel so lonely at times.
@TScalei Somehow a coworker found out about my loss. (Probably from the secretary who I had to tell because the bleeding happened at work and I had to go to the ER right away.) Anyhow, my good friend at work said that the coworker had said, that I was being dramatic by taking time off because the baby wasn't even a baby yet because I wasn't that far along. (First off, I took time off because my HCG was so high that they were worried about a rupture and surgery was a last resort because the baby was in such a tricky place that it would be incredibly invasive. And second, not her problem anyhow!) I was pretty hurt but decided not to confront her. I wholeheartedly believe people who are gossips and nasty have such low self-esteem and disregard for themselves that the only way they can be happy is by putting other people down. I agree that the process is super lonely at times, and even my DH doesn't understand sometimes. I am so blessed to have this community. The support and knowledge here is incredible.
@justsuzie Oh my goodness. People really have the nerve! People are just so nasty and insensitive. I've told people that just because I work in a school doesn't mean that all the people are nice. Schools are so notorious for gossip. I can't stand it.

Sorry I'm late to respond but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who welcomed me to this community.

Not new, but I've been relatively inactive for a while. See below
2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.)
When we finally hit the one year mark of trying in October, I called my OB's office and requested an appointment to start testing and investigating why we can't seem to conceive since our April loss.
3. Rants/Raves
I just truly can't wait to find out our diagnoses (if any).

@RiverSong15 Ah, no problem, come on over we are constantly entertaining
@E2theB Yes!! There is something unbelievably grounding and uplifting about growing your own food and being out there in the soil. I preserved a bunch of our tomatoes and it is just like summer in a jar when you get to tasting those.

GL!

@RiverSong15 You are so helpful. I think you would be excellent in a career about women's health.
@toniherdt Sorry that you find yourself here. The positive is that the women here are amazing and super supportive.
