Hey Ladies

My retrieval that we are using for this FET is the one from Feb 2009. (Same batch that my first born, Gavyn, was transferred from with my fresh IVF cycle- first cycle ever!- We have 4 embys from his batch frozen, 2 boys and 2 girls. We are doing FET for the 2 boys.)

FET date is tentatively scheduled for the 11th!

What was the single best thing that happened in 2016? I exited the workforce as career mom and became a SAHM!

What was an unexpected joy in 2016? Moved to Dallas- Rockwall for my husbands job.

What was biggest thing you learned in 2016? Spend time with just those who WANT to be apart of your life!

What was the best way you used your time in 2016? Unpacking!

@becauselove oh gosh I'm just so excited that its almost here! My husband has the flu bug that I had last week, so I'm taking care of him at the moment, which is a nice change because I always feel like he is taking care of me, lol. I made him an epsom salt bath last night and added baking soda and a little ginger and lavender oil and he said he felt amazing afterwards, so I did a little self pat on the back

How about you?

My SIL just found out that her little one has Fifth Disease, which is super common, but I was around him the day before he got sick, so I hope this doesn't potentially interfere with the transfer. Does anyone know anything about this illness? According to google it is a risk for pregnant women. I messaged my doc, and will see them tomorrow but it is just something that will be on my mind until then.

@BecauseLove My check is Wednesday at 1pm! My DH is taking vacation days this week to use them up and I casually mentioned maybe he could go with me, even though I'm totally fine going alone, so we will see. I'd like for him to be there for good news, but I doubt he needs to be in there for the stitch placement. I'm still feeling good, nothing to report. Pomegranate juice becoming a habit, better if you cut it with OJ or something.

@rainbowwishes5 don't loose hope because of the embryo grading. My REs always said that the PGS normal is what matters and there are some embryos that don't grade well but as long as they are PGS normal they have a good chance at making a healthy baby. I really regret not doing PGS with my IVF cycle I think it could have saved me a lot of heartache.

Thank you all for the kind words. Honestly I'm thankful for this delay/break. I don't have to rush to get the pre-testing done and we have an upcoming vacation in February so we aren't doing a transfer until late February/early march. I'm going to have many a mixed drink! It's a good couple months off for me and honestly I'm thankful for it. I don't think I could have held it together if I had another disappointment in January. I'm finally starting to stitch my pieces together again and things aren't looking quite a dire. We are exploring some foster / foster-to-adopt options and thought at first I was thought I never could go that route surprisingly my heart has really been drawn to it. I don't know how I'm going to get their but my goal is to be a mom. BFP or no BPF!

@krisnjoe you've been added to the spreadsheet! I think I got all the info right- this is your 2nd FET and you're transferring two boys?

AFM- got my two cavities filled today, which makes me feel one step closer to my FET. I had one cavity on either side of my mouth, so basically my whole mouth and tongue are numb! Lunch was a milkshake. Hoping to regain feeling in time for dinner!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on here for a week or so. I finally signed up and am able to post! My husband and I had to go straight to IVF without TTC, because we knew we had to do PGD testing to eliminate embryos with a specific gene I carry. I did 2 egg retrievals in 2016 and I have 6 frozen embryos. I am doing my first FET this weekend, transferring 1 PGS-normal embryo. I have been doing a "natural" FET cycle, so there have been so many appointments! Tomorrow will be the 4th day in a row I've gone in for an appointment. I did my trigger shot this afternoon, but my LH was already spiking this morning so tomorrow's appointment will determine whether my FET is this Saturday or Sunday.

@2momshoping I am also really sorry about the delay. This process involves so much waiting... I do hope you get some nice R&R on your vacation, though. And yes, enjoy those beverages while you can! I'm dying for a glass of cab right now.

@BecauseLove, I did cave and do a hpt today. I'm not totally convinced that there was a second line. If so, it was a squinter. I will probably do a test in the morning. As you can see, I'm not patient enough to wait until Beta day so I will keep you posted.

@APM_SLP, good luck tomorrow on your transfer! We will all be thinking of you.

And for the rest of you amazing ladies who will be doing transfers this week, get lots of sleep and it will be here before you know it! Hugs to all of you.

Alright, I'm finally on a computer and not my phone so can catch up and respond better!

@becauselove hopefully the weather isn't too bad for you! I love that area and grew up taking summer vacations on the North Shore. My sister lives just outside Superior, WI and am there at least once a year. I think my RE usually does ultrasounds around 6-7 weeks (so 2-3 weeks after a positive beta)

@vic311 I am on pins and needles for you to test again this morning! Hopefully a line pops right up! When I had my chemical pregnancy, I had some cramping and just felt "off". I don't normally get a cycle so can't really compare it to PMS symptoms.

@krisnjoe welcome! Where did you move from? That is awesome that your first IVF was successful! Hopefully this FET is no different!

@winnie81 on no! I hope your DH is feeling better! I feel like there is so much nasty crud going around this year - everyone I know (Me included) has been sick over and over again! Hopefully there's nothing to worry about with the Fifth Disease and you won't catch it!

@jessaber0414 FX for a wonderful lining check tomorrow and that placing the stitch isn't too bad! It's always nice when DH can come with. My DH has tried to come to most appointments, just b/c he knows I go through so much and wants to be a support. It's also nice that I don't have to repeat everything to him after the appointment!

@rainbowwishes5 hang in there! Hoping the two are little fighters and like others have said, don't put too much stock in the grading - I know ladies on this board who have had negatives with the prettiest looking embryos there are and success with the lowest graded ones! I'm so sorry that your brother and SIL sprung that news on you, that is NEVER easy!

@2momshoping that stinks about the delay, but hopefully doing more testing reveals some answers so that your next round is successful! It sounds like your RE is willing to pull out all the stops which is good! Keep us updated and enjoy your drinks!

AFM - transfer is scheduled for 10am tomorrow and I'm starting to get nervous ! And of course I caught a nasty cold over the weekend so hoping that doesn't impact anything! I'm trying to think positive but have my moments of doubt that this one won't work.

Welcome, @SingleGeneMe ! I've added you to our little tracking spreadsheet w/ a tentative FET date of 1/7.

AFM, I got a call from my clinic this morning confirming my FET tomorrow at 10am... Except my appointment is at 9:15. They then said they had a scheduling error and asked if coming in at 10 would be a problem. I told them yes, because I have acupuncture appointments before and after the FET. She put me on hold a minuted and then came back to say that they'll "just have to do me at 9:15 then."

Ugh. Now worried that they won't have their shit together.

Afm, not too much new. I added in estradiol injections and estrogen patches this weekend and lining check on Friday. My acupuncturist wants me to add in a second appointment this week and a second one next week.

I'm getting more and more impatient! I just moved up to 3mg of Estrace twice a day and had a lining check this morning. The RE said my lining looked great so now I just need to wait on the phone call telling me that my bloodwork looks ok. I start PIO this weekend...never been so excited to stick myself with a needle lol

Just came off of 4 days of call. New Year's was my holiday. It was miserable. Today I'm treating myself to getting my nails done, waxing, a movie and some retail therapy. I deserve it after all the crap I had to go through.

DH and I told our parents about the process because we're pretty close to them but also because we needed minor procedures. If something were to happen while under anesthesia, I'd feel horrible if either set of parents had to receive a phone call about a complication

Luckily everything went well but geez my mother is bugging me non-stop. Every single day it's "have you heard anything? when can they inject you with the embryo? when will you be pregnant??" lol. We've now decided to be mum about the process and give them vague "No news yet" answers. If our FET is a success, we'll surprise them with the news a few days later but if it's negative, we'll just continue to tell them that we're working on it without giving details.

Anyone else find that when a friend you haven't spoken to in a bit pops up, that you're holding your breath waiting for them to announce their pregnancy? I can't even enjoy catching up anymore because I'm just sitting there waiting for the bomb to be dropped

@lefemmeviolette I would have completely freaked! I told DH last night that I'm betting only one embryo gets thawed even though my RE recommends two this time. She usually calls about a week out and confirms the number but due to the holidays, it didn't happen. I emailed my nurse just to try and prevent any additional stress tomorrow! Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you tomorrow!

@swtanana yes you do deserve a pampering day! That sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day! Enjoy! We keep it vague with my parents as well - they have no idea that I have a transfer tomorrow. When my mom asks how things are going it's always "oh, we're trying something new or just waiting to see what the next steps are". I really want to be able to surprise them, especially since I can't surprise DH. I have told my mom about the negatives though after I've processed it and if she asks what's going on. It's nice to have some extra support during those moments.

@JESSABER0414 Before we had the twins my DH was like that. He was so afraid of missing something where I would need his support. Now he's just there for the transfer lol. It's great that your DH is there with you sometimes a second set of ears really helps.
@rainbowwishes5 I'm going to agree with the others it's all about the PGS testing. My first FET this year one of DH coworkers actually transferred 2 1cb blast 2 days before me I had a 4aa (? I think) and mine turned out a BFN and she just found out that both of hers are girls I was devastated when I heard her's took and mine didn't DH and I both thought they were wasting their time and money with low grade embryo's.

AFM- I'm at work and done with today's bw and us. She said my lining is supper thin so she doesn't think I'll get much of a cycle and doesn't seem worried about that at all. I'm just waiting for the bw call. My ovaries feel like they will explode. It wasn't my usual tech so I couldn't see how bad my PCOS was flaring up I guess I could have asked but I didn't. I am on day 3 of my patches so I switched them out this morning. Not really any side effects from them. I have had headaches but I also quit Caffine on Sunday sooo...

@rainbowwishes5 I take a valum before my transfer so I'm not to drive for 24 hrs after my transfer. I'm usually pretty sleepy the day of. It's kind of like an IUI they lay you on the bed and do an ultrasound insert the catheter and then inject the embryo. Usually they leave me in the room for about 5 min then get up go pee and get dressed. The hardest part is needing a full bladder. It's recommended to take it easy for about 24 hour then some small restrictions. Personally I don't go back to work for a couple days. Mine will be on a Fri so I'll go back on Mon if it was any other day of the week I take the following day off too. Just my personal preference.

@rainbowwishes5 Like @thucks said, it's similar to an IUI. Some minor cramping but not bad. You should be able to go back to work same day if you want, but I usually take the day of off as well as a few extra days. My job is fairly stressful and I have the sick leave so I'll take it. My transfer is tomorrow and I'll probably take Thursday off for sure, maybe Friday depending on how I'm feeling. I'm usually pretty tired after the transfer - just because of the stress/excitement, etc. so for my previous ones, I've gone home and napped.

@LeFemmeViolette glad you got that dentist trip over with! I had a root canal and a cavity filled last month. BLAH!

@rainbowwishes5 like the PP mentioned, it's pretty painless (sometimes the catheter does hurt me a little when my uterus is at a weird angle). My MD gives you the choice to take the Valium or not, but I've yet to take it because I'm just weird about meds! He puts my on bed rest for 2 days with light activity starting day 3. I took the whole week off of work just to relax and not stress. This is our last chance without having to do another ER, so I'm giving it all I got!!

AFM, THANK YOU ALL for the messages of support! I am so happy today is here and can't wait to see pics of my little frosty boy and frosty girl!

Just got all my results. I am on cd3 E2 - 72.6pg/ml, progesterone <0.200ng/ml my lining is 3.9. My message in the portal said everything looks great see you next Friday.

Feel like my clinic hoodwinked me. I agreed to PGS. I only had 2 blasts. They biopsies and I only found out there were only 2 blasts 12-24hrs after the biopsy. They knew I only had 6-10 eggs at best going in but strongly encouraged I not cancel. So now I find out that if I didn't agree to testing they would just transfer the 2 and see what took. But now I am left waiting and $1800 out of pocket for what I don't even know anymore. I'll never do PGS again. Oh, and their lab does the testing. It's their company. So they make the profit off of it so they push it on everyone. Ugh. So frustrated with them.

Well I am sorta sitting on pins and needles. I had my US and Bloodwork done this am. I ended up driving down a night ahead so I would avoid the storm...still got a bit of the storm...but really the storm didn't get that bad.

Anyways early morning of testing. I also met a possible Ob for if we get Ku'd. It was interesting because she didn't seem to know the difference between PGS/PGD etc. That made me a little nervous. Also she said they would mostly just treat me like a normal ku'd lady if we get that far. In my head I have been hoping for someone that would have a little extra empathy and might be willing to do an extra ultrasound or whatever to help bring peace of mind to this process.

Also during my ultrasound I asked the tech a few questions and she kept saying that it looked good for the beginning of my cycle...and I kept being like what are you talking about...finally we figured out that she thought I was on CD 3 (I am so far beyond that) which then freaked me out a fare share cause I shouldn't be having things look like CD 3. Anyways it sounds like I had a lining of around 15 but that it wasn't a triple layer.

Also I guess my results were sent right away but my Dr office didn't get them...so I had to call like 3 times to confirm between both places that they got them but still haven't heard what the next steps are....plus I am so anxious as I think my lining is thicker than was to be expected and I don't want my transfer cancelled. EeK!

*Just got off the phone with my nurse...we are good to go...keeping on with the same schedule. I guess the Dr said if my lining had been any thicker she might have considered canceling but that everything was good.

SingleGeneMe That is awesome news! FX crossed for you. Are you doing acupuncture? Any bed rest directives from your dr?

rainbowwishes5 I am sorry your feeling so frustrated with this process. It is such a challenge when we have to be our own advocates about things that we are also needing direction from our dr's about. Maybe you will find out that they are both PGS normal and that will give you some reassurance as you transfer? Sorry you are having to deal with any of this!

In response to your question about the transfer...I haven't had one before but my Dr. requires we take a valium for the procedure and doesn't let us drive afterwards.

APM_SLP Congrats on being PUPO!! How did the transfer go? Did they let you take pics of the frosties or did they give you pics of the frosties? Any plans to relax after transfer? When is your 1st Beta draw?

My Dr recommends 48 hours of bedrest. My plan is to have the DH drive the 5 hours home after the transfer and then spend the next day in bed...and then go to work on Wed though that is cutting the 48 hours short I don't plan on doing any serious lifting or anything.

Ah...what a small world. Maybe we have bumped into each other over the years in up north.

My family owns a couple tourist businesses. My US and bloodwork today was done in Duluth (my 2 hour drive from home). How far up the shore did you get on your summer trips?

SwtAnana I am glad that telling your parents and partners parents went well. We have been pretty open with our families about everything as we have been ttc for years etc. I think mostly my family and the people I have told are just more curious/fascinated by the technology/process of it all. That is great that you got some pampering in (really sounds wonderful!!!) but sorry that you had to have some bad days to provoke it.

Here are my two little babes! Girl 4ab (top) and boy 4ab. Both were hatching by time of transfer. It went very smoothly and I'm home relaxing! Beta is 1/12 but lord knows I'll be testing before!! Thanks you all for being so supportive!! An exciting time for this group!

AFM- I just cancelled my PGS- I'll be charged for the biopsy but not testing. This way they'll just stick both in and we'll see if anything sticks because this is the end of my journey. I cannot do IVF or IUI or any of it ever again. I am beyond spent.

@mtpbadger Thanks! According to several family members, they are 100% certain that I caught it as a child, so that would make me have immunity!

@Becauselove Do you have other options for an OB to look into? From what you said, I don't feel like that doctor is the best fit. I feel like I want to find someone that is familiar with IF as well. Was the doctor that you interviewed 2 hours away as well? I am so excited for you for next Monday! Oh and my the bath was amazing. I love anything that makes me feel like I'm drawing out toxins from the body. DH has felt great since then, aside from his moodiness last night (I call it man-stration).

@APM_SLP ahhh your embies are so beautiful!! I am so excited for you! I hope the time goes by quickly and can't wait to hear an update!

AFM: I feel like every time I post on this board, it is about someone being sick. This time it is our oldest, naughty boy dog. We left him in the backyard on Friday, so that we could go to the pharmacy and get a refill on my patches. Gone maybe 30 minutes and it was beautiful outside. He broke through the fence, and found him a block away eating diapers from a neighbors trash...so gross. He still has the shits (woke up to it in the hallway twice now) so we just got back from the vet and he had food born illness. So glad it isn't an obstruction, because there was blood in it. I'm looking at this as bootcamp for when we have a child (hopefully). His punishment is antibiotics, a bland diet, and no special doggy treats.

@Winnie81 fur babies do help prepare you for munchkins. The week before Christmas we were playing with a bouncy ball and my weiner dog snatched it up. $1500 later we got the ball back via a cut through the tummy. In other words don't let your kid put small objects in their mouth lol.

@APM_SLP what great pics. It's kewl when you get to see the blast and get a pic. Our clinic doesn't do this but we get an us pic to show where it was placed.
