Yeahhhh not believing the backtracking here Re: Sex disappointment (as an aside - for the love of all that is holy the word is not "gender" that should be used here)
Agreed @Elyse1384. OP says she is fine with having a boy now. Only after says she was "terrified" of having another boy. And so scared to find out the sex. Those feelings are completely different, sorry not sorry.
When I'm not thinking about it, I still use gender sometimes instead of sex because it's a more neutral word. Sex can mean... you know.. *whispers* intercourse.
I have my mother to thank for that little neurosis.
But I try not to.

@BelhurstBride and @Elyse1384 Thank you for pointing that out. I too in my response carelessly incorrectly used the term gender. I have corrected my post bc I know better. And if we know better we should do better.
I actually learned about sex vs gender right here on TB. I think it was the weekend of the overly dramatic UO thread back in the beginning.
Now that I know what I didn't know, it floors me to see so many enlightened, woke people in my life use only the word gender.
I also became aware on TB with my last pregnancy. It's not that I couldn't understand the difference, it was that I gave it zero thought until it became an issue on here. When I was pregnant with my first in '10, I am almost positive that this was NEVER a conversation and that pretty much everyone used gender and sex interchangeably.
Now I see how many people misuse the words (in and outside of TB) and I am convinced that like 90% of people just simply don't realize they are misusing the words. It's kind of like how many people say, "I could care less" instead of "I could not care less". If they took two seconds and thought about it, they would realize that they didn't make sense.

FTM and I had never previously given any thought to the gender v sex issue. And I live in a very liberal area and try to be extra sensitive to gender identity issues. Thanks for the education! I've gone back and edited an old post where I mixed them up.
Re: Thursday Ticker Change 12/29
Edited becuase of incorrect word use
Sex, people. Sex. Sex. Sex. We're talking about the sex of your child. Not the gender.
