@BecauseLove Ahh I didn't even think side effects. I don't have any trouble with the pills. I wounder how I will do with the patches. I don't mind talking about my IVF/Twin experiance especially with IF people that wont be so criticizing. But I also try not to talk much about it on these boards because I don't want to offend any one. I don't want to be insensitive. I've had some back lash that I shouldn't be on the boards because I've had a successful round but I still struggle the same with new rounds as I did years ago before the twins.

thucks That is just crazy for someone to say you shouldn't be on the boards because you had the success we are all hoping for. You are one of us so therefore we should be supportive...thats it in my mind. I find it really reassuring to hear the good news others have had. Yeah I didn't really have any impact from the pills either but the 1st day of the patch sucked...the rest has been pretty fine. I have heard you can buy medical adhesive remover pads at some pharmacies...if you find them I would get some.

@BecauseLove I will be transferring a single girl embryo tomorrow, we did CCS testing because of my age. My lining got to an 8.5, which was my best so far throughout this process. I'm usually in the 7's. And the meds are fine this time, except my butt is getting really sore. I did two rounds of ERA testing right before this and it required the same injection protocol as the FET.
I haven't really done anything special to prepare for this, except quitting alcohol and caffeine about a week ago. I've been doing acupuncture as well. I have an 8am appt for acupuncture, then head to my FET in San Francisco at 10:30. After that, I'll take it easy at home.

I've seen a few of you mention cutting out caffeine prior to transfer. I wonder if this is something to look into? I really only have one cup of coffee per day, so it's not like it's a ridiculous amount. I was definitely planning on abstaining from caffeine during the TWW, but wondering if I should start now. (Despite getting a cold brew coffee maker for xmas!) : (

APM_SLP that is awesome...soon to be pupo! Interesting that your doing your trigger now and then don't transfer until Tuesday next week. When I was doing IUI's I thought they always had you do the insemination part 36 hours or something after the trigger....not sure what the deal is with IVF. I actually don't even know if I have a trigger on my FET schedule.

LeFemmeViolette I thought at our clinic they said to cut out caffeine as it impacted blood flow to the uterus which had negative impact. I don't drink coffee so I didn't pay a ton of attention though I do have to remember to not drink Arnie Palmers which I like that have black tea in them.
Other than that I am not not eating or drinking anything special until after the transfer. I have had a few adult beverages over the holidays but will be going back to the no drinking the last week and a half before transfer.
How are you doing with the count down. I think it feels pretty surreal so far for me.

@BecauseLove the hcg trigger for natural FET is just for timing purposes. Since I'm ovulating, we need to know exactly when i ovulated so we can time the transfer correctly (1 week after trigger). That way my hormones are at optimal levels for implantation.

@BecauseLove I have to do Endometrin too. 3 times a day vaginally. Plus PIO shots.
Also, my RE has always said one cup of coffee a day is ok for a pregnant woman, so ok for me. But I'm ok without it, so cutting it out slowly. Already said goodbye to adult beverages last week and that was no treat during the holidays. Kept hearing how it thins the lining, so worth it.

AFM, I decided to be a responsible adult and have a dental checkup before this FET. Unfortunately I've got a couple cavities, so I opted to have them filled on the 2nd. If not for the upcoming FET I totally would have been like "yeah, uh, I can do it in March or April..." Really hate all things dental. But, better to get this kind of stuff addressed now than when preggers!

Congrats @Vic311 on being pupo! Very exciting! I have my cd4 b/w and u/s tomorrow am. They will also retest my thyroid because 3 weeks ago it was at 2.59 and they don't want it over 2.5 so I started on a thyroid medication...fingers crossed that it has worked.

When is your FET date? We received our schedule yesterday and the transfer date is set for january 12th! I was shocked it could happen so early for us. I thought I'd be waiting into February.
What was the single best thing that happened in 2016? Finally getting the ball rolling on having kids....we started trying in the spring of 2015 so we are very ready to expand our family.
What was an unexpected joy in 2016? Finally starting my "big girl" job and being able to get my financial life in order. So much less stress and more happiness overall to start significantly paying off debt.
What was biggest thing you learned in 2016? How to be more patient. IVF requires a ton of waiting and finding flexibility in things that are inconvenient.
What was the best way you used your time in 2016? Still working on that one...I have a few days left lol

AFM- Ive been on BCP for 32 days now and I'm spotting pretty good. I hate that. I have 2 days left then I start my patches. I really should get my big box of meds out and get ready. Seems so official when I do that. I guess cause I'm not doing a natural cycle I don't wait for AF? The natural cycles are all new to me I haven't see anyone do those.

amanning2011 My RE wanted to know when I got my period after stopping bcps but mine was a day and a half delayed and only heavy spotting (but that is what my period has been like since we started IVF). We started patches still on schedule but I have heard from people that didn't get their period that dr's cancelled cycles...just not sure what the difference is for some. Today is my upping to 2 patches day and then 12/31 3 patches and then 1/2 4 patches. Its's crazy how fast it is all going all of a sudden.

@lefemmeviolette you can do it! The first one yourself is a little awkward but it's not as hard as it seems. I do all the ones on my right side myself bc those tend to hurt a lot more when DH does that side and I bruise less when I do it for some reason.

Her DH is a firefighter and was gone all the time so she had to do them herself. She called me freaking out the first night, but I was her cheerleader and she eventually did it! After the first one she said it was easy peasy!

@LeFemmeViolette it really does get easier. I work in medicine so it was sort of a given that I was going to do my own injections. When I did my first PIO, I was a little intimidated, but after the first one it wasn't bad at all. I alternate sides to even out the soreness but I don't think there's any way around being a bit sore. You can definitely do this!

@BecauseLove I will be transferring a single girl embryo tomorrow, we did CCS testing because of my age. My lining got to an 8.5, which was my best so far throughout this process. I'm usually in the 7's. And the meds are fine this time, except my butt is getting really sore. I did two rounds of ERA testing right before this and it required the same injection protocol as the FET.
I haven't really done anything special to prepare for this, except quitting alcohol and caffeine about a week ago. I've been doing acupuncture as well. I have an 8am appt for acupuncture, then head to my FET in San Francisco at 10:30. After that, I'll take it easy at home.

I've seen a few of you mention cutting out caffeine prior to transfer. I wonder if this is something to look into? I really only have one cup of coffee per day, so it's not like it's a ridiculous amount. I was definitely planning on abstaining from caffeine during the TWW, but wondering if I should start now. LeFemmeViolette I thought at our clinic they said to cut out caffeine as it impacted blood flow to the uterus which had negative impact. I don't drink coffee so I didn't pay a ton of attention though I do have to remember to not drink Arnie Palmers which I like that have black tea in them.
Other than that I am not not eating or drinking anything special until after the transfer. I have had a few adult beverages over the holidays but will be going back to the no drinking the last week and a half before transfer.
How are you doing with the count down. I think it feels pretty surreal so far for me.

Also, my RE has always said one cup of coffee a day is ok for a pregnant woman, so ok for me. But I'm ok without it, so cutting it out slowly. Already said goodbye to adult beverages last week and that was no treat during the holidays. Kept hearing how it thins the lining, so worth it.

AFM, I decided to be a responsible adult and have a dental checkup before this FET. Unfortunately I've got a couple cavities, so I opted to have them filled on the 2nd. If not for the upcoming FET I totally would have been like "yeah, uh, I can do it in March or April..." Really hate all things dental. But, better to get this kind of stuff addressed now than when preggers!

We received our schedule yesterday and the transfer date is set for january 12th! I was shocked it could happen so early for us. I thought I'd be waiting into February.
What was the single best thing that happened in 2016?
Finally getting the ball rolling on having kids....we started trying in the spring of 2015 so we are very ready to expand our family.
What was an unexpected joy in 2016?
Finally starting my "big girl" job and being able to get my financial life in order. So much less stress and more happiness overall to start significantly paying off debt.
What was biggest thing you learned in 2016?
How to be more patient. IVF requires a ton of waiting and finding flexibility in things that are inconvenient.

amanning2011 My RE wanted to know when I got my period after stopping bcps but mine was a day and a half delayed and only heavy spotting (but that is what my period has been like since we started IVF). We started patches still on schedule but I have heard from people that didn't get their period that dr's cancelled cycles...just not sure what the difference is for some. Today is my upping to 2 patches day and then 12/31 3 patches and then 1/2 4 patches. Its's crazy how fast it is all going all of a sudden.
