  • @rainbowwishes5 fx!! Those numbers sound promising! If it makes you feel better about skipping the third IUI, our RE said that unlike clomid + IUI, gonal-f + IUI has the same odds every time you do it. (Odds with clomid peak at 6 cycles).

  • @rainbowwishes5 Thinking of you!! Positive thoughts!!

It seems like there is a lot of differences in our scenarios on here (obviously), but I can't help but wonder if anyone is from Canada? I'm from Ontario. I here that in the US/Europe they put people to sleep for the ER, but I'm going to just get a little freezing and that's that. Anyone care to share their stories? I'm nervous. It's an area needles aren't supposed to be, and the process is invasive. So excited for the potential end result (which is what I am trying to focus on) but the process seems very painful.

  • @laurenray91 I felt no pain- only mildly crampy afterwards. Didn't even take Tylenol. I am in theUS and they did put me to sleep (and I loved it! Such a happy drunk feeling- I kept Telly my nurse how great she was and thanking her!). Don't worry!! It'll be fine :)

  • @rainbowwishes5 Hey... Ive had 4 er's and each was different. I think it depends on a bunch of factors, but in the two where I had the most eggs retrieved, i was pretty sick after... vomiting right away and feeling yucky for days... this last time i had mild ohss so i felt yucky for about a week. But the other two i didn't have much pain, no nausea or vomiting and feeling back to normal sooner. I'm not saying this to scare you... I'm a big wimp when it comes to stuff like this so its no surprise! lol
  • @dragonette505 @rainbowwishes5 I think the most alarming part is that, like you said, each situation is different so it's hard to know what to expect! Thanks for the comments though! They help!
  • So after talking with my RE and the genetics lab, it's looking more and more like that I'll be stimming mostly in February (the lab needs 3-4 weeks to build the PGD testing probe/kit/thing) with a late Feb retrieval and then (hopefully!) a March FET. Might be able to start the shots in January, so I'll be hanging out here anyways/until there's a February ivf board...
  • @Nikkilegare - welcome! so sorry that you're on this board, but wishing yo all the good luck on this cycle!

I haven't started the shots yet, but do worry how much they will hurt...good to hear they it didn't!
  • @Mando15 we committed to the vacation w my HS friends about 1 yr ago. There were several things we've had the opportunity to do over the last 2 yrs that we've opted not to, thinking I'd be growing a human. Obv that didn't exactly pan out, so we decided we weren't going to not live our lives bc of what might happen.....so things like this trip are on the books (and our budget). I think we're also about to book a cheap trip out to LA to see DH's college roomie while I can still have a drink or two. The saving grace is that my job lets me make more than my base while I travel (catastrophe adjuster for an ins co) so we've been able to save quite a bit. Although, I won't lie, the *only* reason we can afford this treatment is that we got an inheritance this year from my grandpa, otherwise I'm not sure how the heck we'd afford any of this!

Together Let Us Seek the Heights

  • @sleepyrn, when they cancelled a cycle for weight, had they told you ahead of time what their cut-off number is for weight?  We've had some vague information that my wife's weight might be a problem (210 lbs, at 5'5" height), so she is trying hard to lose a couple pounds before her baseline.  But they didn't give us an actual number, above which the cycle would be cancelled.  Are you comfortable sharing what your clinic's weight/bmi limit is?

Congrats for losing weight, though!  It's hard to do, especially with fertility stress.  I lost 20 pounds since Jan 2016, but gained 5 back, like, last week.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

    *TW previous child mentioned*

    hi girls,

hoping I can join. I just found out I will be able to start my first FET.  In 2015 DH and I had 3 unsuccessful IUIs and moved to IVF. Our fist cycle was successful and we had 5 frozen embryos. Now back to try for #2.

Im stopping bcps today and will start estrogen once af arrives
  • @Klake42 Their cutoff for BMI is 35.  The anesthesia guy won't go in office any higher than that, and the hospital they used for my prior ER in May doesn't allow my doc to do ERs there any more.  I needed to lose a total of 31lbs and was just a few pounds short when I got cancelled in October, so this time I should be good to go because I had plenty of time to get their number.  I'm 5'7.  I'm afraid to get weighed after all the Christmas food though. ;)

    me:41 dh:42
me:PCOS, blocked left fallopian tube, hyperprolactinemia  (dh's swimmers are perfect/normal)
Tried 3 rounds of clomid with Ovidrel trigger (BFNs)
May/June 2016 IVF   6/1 ER 7 eggs retrieved, 7 fertilized via ICSI  6 embryos made it to blasts.
6/6 2 AA embryos transfered, 4 BBs frozen
    Beta 6/18  -- BFN
    FET #1 August 22 BFN
Dec 2016/Jan 2017 Round 2 was a bust. 6 eggs, Only 1 embryo made it, no transfer
FET #2 cancelled 10/17 due to uterine polyps. Postponed until 9/2018 due to hip replacement.

FET #3 9/11/18 Uterine scratch and antihistamine protocol/lovenox done this time. 2 AA hatching blasts put in.  BFP 9/20/18!!

@lin&say and @Nikkilegare I started yesterday so we are at about the same place (I tend to progress pretty slow)!
im doing micro dose lupron so I have morning and evening shots.
My first scan was yesterday and my next will be on Tuesday... glad to be cycling with y'all!
  • @dragonette505 Yay! I don't know anyone who has been through this in real life, so it's nice to have a cycle buddy! Is this your second IVF cycle then? Are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer?

  • @Lin&say This is my 5th! The plan is fresh xfer this cycle if I get anything to transfer. If not I'll decide if I'm trying another IVF or doing an FET with the embryos I already have frozen. How about you? Fresh or frozen?
  • @dragonette505 The 5th time's a charm, right? I'll have my fingers crossed tightly for you that you're able to do a fresh this round and won't need to touch your frozen babies any time soon! We'll be doing a fresh as well (hopefully, anyway). This will be our first and only shot at it so I'm hoping for the best but know it's ultimately all out of our hands at this point. As much as it all sucks and as much as everything doesn't go as planned, I try to look at it this way: we get to go through a really cool experience that not a lot of people get to go through...whether they stick or not, we still get to see our babies from the minute they're created and see/feel the scientific part of it all that normal fertile people don't get to be a part of. Even though the journey to get here sucks, I'm at least grateful for that part.

@brela11 Yay! I created a new one just because I've chosen to only tell certain people in real life. One of these days I'll get the courage to be open about it to everyone, but until then I'll just stay in my little bubble  ;)

    Just call me CC.  :)

  • Thanks @CCBrownEyedGirl - I only have 2 blasts- a 6cb and a  4ab - so one of poor to fair quality and one of fair to average quality. :( and now I wait 18 days for PGS testing due to 2 federal holiday delays. Gulp.

  • Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a happy/fun/safe New Years Eve! DH and I stayed in (he ended up working overtime the past 4 of the 5 days...over 100 hours! crazy, but to be honest that extra money is a god-send!) and I cooked dinner and then we're having some drinks and waiting for the ball to drop.

AFM - phone consult with the PGD lab is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Today we got the test kit so we can send our samples in for them to use...we thought it would be a cheek swab...turns out that they sent us blood vials so we have to go in to our RE - and due to DH's work schedule, we can't go in until wednesday morning. at least, they will overnight it back to the lab so hopefully by 1/9 they'll have started the process! My sister has also received the kit for my bio mom, so she said she will get her to do it this weekend and she will send it back on tuesday. so, yay for progress!
  • @rainbowwishes5 FX for good PGS results for you, and I hope today is a better day!

Together Let Us Seek the Heights

  • @rainbowwishes5 - I'm keeping all the finger and toes crossed that both come back PGS normal! And keep yourself busy during the next couple weeks, hopefully it'll pass quickly! Hope today is a better day, and i know it's cliche, but it's the start of a brand new year!

I think it is SO cool to think about this process as seeing our *babies* from the moment they are conceived. It makes us a pretty special group of ladies :)
