@mommym234 I've never had thrush, but it's my understanding that you need medicine to treat it. Call your doc and they should prescribe something for you and your baby (otherwise you'll keep passing it back and forth to each other.)
@mommym234 how do you know that you have thrush? I've been having a pain in my nipple that shoots into my breast but I don't see any signs on me or in LOs mouth. Would I call my ob/Gyn about this?
I'm guessing it's thrush because my nipples are really painful/tender and red and whenever either kid latches I get the shooting pains. I don't see the white residue in their mouths so not 100% sure, but will call my midwife and ask.
I'm going back to work in January and need to get us both used to our future schedule. So i started to mimick what our schedule would be and thank god I did because LO started to refuse a bottle. We're on our 3rd week of 3 bottles a day and he still fights it but will eventually give in and drink it. He's also starting daycare part time next week so that we can ease him into it. I have 4 weeks to get him fully ready. I still nurse in the evening and through the night. I was able to nurse DS since I wasn't working at the time and I did love just laying in bed staring at him eat. To those who aren't feeling connected, try a different position to be in. I don't feel so at ease when I'm fumbling around trying to hold him into position or messing with the bobby. I like to lay down with LO and nurse.
Now I'm starting to wonder if LO has reflux and that is the reason behind her long feedings. She's been spitting up a lot, more than what I think is normal, right about the time the longer feelings started. And in the evenings she fights nursing even though she's hungry. Sometimes it takes me calming her down several times before she will finally nurse. But when she does spit up she doesn't seem uncomfortable. I have an appt with an LC tomorrow and her pedi next week. Hope to have some answers soon.
@Ladybug2821 I posted about my baby fighting nursing in weekly randoms. She too has been spitting up more (she use to never) but I think she's teething even though it's early. She also only nursed 3-7 minutes tops. Let me know what your pediatrician says
@Ladybug2821 you might be right about the comfort nursing. When my LO comfort nurses he tends to spit up, I assume because he overate. They also go through a leap between 5 and 6 weeks which might be making LO want to comfort nurse more :-/ hoping you can get to the bottom of it with the LC!
LO had her 2 month checkup today and her doctor is still concerned about her weight. She's in the 39th percentile for weight and her muscle tone is decreasing, so we're going to start supplementing her with formula. I'm feeling sad and frustrated that I can't provide everything that she needs. I don't have any problem giving her formula and I'll do whatever it takes to keep her healthy, but I'm having a pity party about it today.
Met with the LC today and the DR. Unfortunately I found out my LO does have reflux. She actually spit up 3 times while we were there! Of course I hate that my poor girl has this but at the same time I'm glad that I got answers. I knew something wasn't right. I also found out that her mouth is "tight" so that is why I was having trouble with her latching. But the LC showed me a great position where she is basically straddling my leg and leaning forward towards the breast. Not only does this make it easier for her to latch on her own, it also will help with the reflux because she's sitting upright. @fitlady21 the signs of her having reflux were the fighting feedings even though she was hungry, longer feelings since milk coming in stopped spit up from coming out, curdled spit up and a lot of it. It is possible that your LO could be getting enough in 7 mins. My LO only ate for 10 and consumed 2.4 oz and was finished. The LC said within 20 mins she should get all she needs and if she tries to go longer to pull her off. My LO will be taking Zantac and we both will be taking a probiotic. If those things do not help then I will have to try a dairy free diet. Luckily the DR said this is something they grow out of but can take a year.
Oh yeah and green or mucousy poop is another symptom. Sorry for the long post but hopefully all this info can help someone out.

Thanks for the info! Glad you two were about to figure it out.
