Hi ladies! So fun seeing all the excitement for upcoming FETs! I got my protocol a few days ago. I go in on December 22nd for a baseline with transfer the 12th.
I'm anxious to get this all started- I have to say that it is definitely dominating my thoughts instead of the usual holiday excitement that I usually experience.
For those of you that have done this before, do you ever cry when you get your medications? I cry every single time! I'm not sure what it is. I almost think it just makes me so sad seeing everything I need to get pregnant.

Hey ladies! It's great to hear that we have our first FET in just a few weeks! Wow!! I had to have my infectious diseases blood work redone last week because I've been at my clinic for over a year (sad to think about) and they found that my TSH is now at 2.79 and they don't want to see it over 2.5. So I have started on a thyroid medication and I am hoping that when I go at the end of Dec for my baseline u/s and b/w it has gone down. Ugh, one more thing to worry about. Other than that, I've been doing acupuncture and fighting with CVS specialty (the worst pharmacy ever to use). Hope everyone is staying warm!!
I won't get my protocol until AF comes hopefully just after Christmas, I have been trying to put it out of my thoughts and just focus on the now with all the holiday cheer but the second I am alone in a quite space I can't shut off all my fears and anxieties. We met with out RE and everything is all set for another FET he doesn't want to change anything nor does he want us transferring 2 embryos. I figured after 2 failed cycles he would be recommending or at least considering transferring 2 but when I asked he couldn't have answered with a no any faster. I feel like the majority of the women on these boards and Instagram all transfer 2 embryos. There's just times when I feel like maybe my RE just sees me as a dollar sign and the longer this takes the more $ $3 makes. This whole process just makes me go crazy.

I'm so sorry @kjplaza. Ultimately I feel it's your decision. My RE was fine transferring two after our failed fresh cycle. We'll be doing two for our next FET as well. Stick to your guns.

@kjplaza my RE won't do more than 1 because he says he doesn't want to have twins on his conscience because of the complications with a multiple pregnancy. So that's his reasoning. Bums me out though. Big time.

MtpBadger how are you doing? It is getting closer and closer to your transfer. How are the FET meds going for you? Any plans for wild times before the transfer. Or any plans for after the transfer?
@JESSABER0414 How are your FET meds going? I don't think I have any steroids in my med list. Any fun plans for the holidays?
Sweetdrms182 your FET is right after mine. Have you started any FET meds yet?
LeFemmeViolette Glad your blood draw and US went well! Did they tell you what they want your lining to look like at transfer? Your friend is quite lucky to have some one so crafty as yourself working on their gender reveal event. So neat! My SIL would be totally into the Harry Potter awesomeness. Wow about the numbing patches...I wish my Dr had offered up some...they sound wonderful!
rainbowwishes5 Welcome! How is your follie growth going so far for your retrieval? How are the IVF meds going for you?
mtpbadger Congrats on getting your med list! I hope you are able to save on some of the items if you already have some on hand. That is great that your meds go towards your deductible!
jodes727 glad to hear from you. I hope your numbers are improved next time you go in. What is going on with CVS?
kjplaza that is such a bummer that your dr isn't really listening to your fears or providing info about why he/she is saying just 1. My dr suggests to just do 1 (eset) but I think if we pushed she would allow us to do what we wanted..or if not I would hope she would explain things to us about why she wasn't wanting to transfer 2. I wish you such patience and peace in the middle of this...so much of ttc requires such a suffering amount of patience. Creepy internet hugs!
I am just doing my usual...lupron shots in the evening and about to stop BCP this week and then on to estrogen patches and other fun meds. Mostly I am endlessly planning being pregnant as of January and that seems terrifying if it doesn't work.
Wondering how long you each plan to be on bed rest after your transfer (if at all)?

@BecauseLove Our first go-round I told my RE I planned to stay in bed the entire rest of the day after transfer. She actually told me that yes, I should take it easy and not do anything strenuous or stressful, but that I also shouldn't be on bedrest- that getting up and walking helps bloodflow to the uterus.
So, that's my plan. Mostly resting, but making sure to get up and walk around every now and then.

Our RE didnt elaborate just doesn't like the idea of twins. Its definitely always our decision our FET paperwork has us choose 1 or 2 embryos and i dont think he could stop us if we choose that. I think i will listen for at least 1 more round. My brother is a neonatologist and is also all about singleton pregnancies just to eliminate all the extra risks with twins. We didnt do any PGS testing which is the hard part my RE believes we have at least 1 good embryo that its very unlikely they would all be bad, we can still do testing on our 4 remaining if we want but he doesnt think its necessary for the cost and risk of thawing and refreezing. Then he said each transfer is a less expensive version of PGS testing cause if it doesnt succeed than it wasnt a viable embryo... easy for him whos not going through the rollercoast of a transfer with shots and 10+pills a day and the hopes and fears that come along with each one and the heartbreak with each failed cycle. I know he means well and to him its just a month but for all of us going through this a month is an excruciating time to wait over and over again. i just need to trust the advice he is giving us is the best to his knowledge and believe that God will bless us with our rainbow baby soon.
also as far as bedrest following transfer, my first transfer i laid low for about 3 days and also had the luxury of taking about 10 days off from work, the 2nd time my RE recommended bed rest the rest of the day following he said laying down for 45 min out of the hour and walking the other 15. and taking it easy the 2 days after. i pretty much followed this however i get bored at home and would do some light cleaning and then we flew out of town for a wedding on the 3rd day so i did like 2.5 days of taking it easy. i honestly think if i am able to this time around im going to try to take 5-7 days off again just because my anxiety was so extreme and if i can work out the time off to be home and away from people where i constantly have to have a brave face on as well as i have a very physical job and just for my own peace of mind whether it makes any difference for the outcome.

@beacuselove I'm doing a no Lupron cycle- I'm not sure the benefit of not doing it... It wasn't explained to me and I didn't ask (although I did wonder).
12/19 -I go off BCP on the 19th 12/20 - Baseline appt 12/22- Start delestrogen 2x a week. 1/7 - PIO, prometrium, prednisone, doxycycline
This is my 4th FET in a year and it still amazes me how different everyone's protocol is, in this board and prior months boards. @lilmissslp I actually prefer the PIO over the suppository. My tip is to warm up the liquid. I usually heat up my heating pad in the microwave draw my syringe and then place it in the heating pad for about a minute just enough to thin it out then do my injection message the area and put the heating pad on while moving around. @kjplaza I'm kinda shocked that the doc is against transferring 2 most of the time they go for 2. TW In 2012 we did 2 rounds of IVF and transferred 2 both times I now have a set of twins. But to prevent another set (not cause of complications but life in general) we are only transferring 1 at a time and again this is my 4th round this year. We have made a decision that we could just transfer 2 again cause the odds seem better but instead we are thawing 2 transferring the best of the 2 and refreezing or disposing of the other. Kind of a happy medium. Generally I had no complications with my pregnancy. My girls were big and when I went to my apt at 35 weeks to schedule a c-section the following week I had preclampcia and so I had the babies that day. @BecauseLove My RE doesn't suggest full bed rest just some relax time. I usually schedule mine on a thurs or fri so I have the weekend. If I do Thurs the I take 1 day off from work and relax. The hardest part for me is not picking up my girls and forcing myself to sit rest the day of and day after.
AFM I'm sitting here impatiently waiting for the 30th to get here. I'm on BCP now but keep spotting (not completely abnormal for me). On the 30th I get to start estrogen patches (this is a first for me usually its a pill) and then add in PIO. I don't have any steroids or lupron.

Wow so many different suggestions. My dr suggestions 48 hours of bedrest. It is interesting to hear about the different recommendations of doing PGS/CCS testing or not. I was really conforted by the fact that when we did CCS testing that 4 came back abnormal (and 1 undeterimend) and 3 Normal...it really helped me to feel like I didn't waste time doing a fresh transfer as more than half of my 5aa blastos would have likely resulted in failure. It was very sureal though to go from 36 or whatever retrieved down to only 3 that are transferable.
Anyone have any fun holiday plans? Staying in town or traveling? Did you put up a holiday tree or not? Any fun holiday traditions? Favorite holiday cookie?

Thanks for the great tips @thucks! What time of day did you have to take it? My instructions say morning which stinks because I'm already rushing out the door at 6:45 every morning.
@becauselove, it's really interesting. My RE just said nothing strenuous. I've read both sides. I'm not sure what I'll do my next go around...maybe a mixture of take it easy and walk around the house. My parents are traveling to us for xmas and my aunt and uncle will come stay as well. I'm glad to be doing my FET in late January/ Early Feb because as much as I love the holidays, it can be very stressful! We have a small tree up and my mom will do all the baking :-)

@becauselove me and DH will be traveling to MN for Christmas so we put up a small (fake) tree and some minor decorations. Christmas Day we make a big breakfast, open presents and then our stockings and just hang out until dinner. We all get scratch off lottery tickets in our stockings. In 32 years no one has won big yet....maybe this will be the year! My DH didn't grow up celebrating Christmas so it's fun that my family goes all out and he gets to experience that now.
@lilmissslp My instructions say to do it in the PM. I do my own. Poor DH doesn't get involved when we started this in 2012 he was a mess and bruised the crap out of my tummy so I have just learned to do them myself he's there for moral support and a signature at the transfers lol.

@BecauseLove We are going to my Aunt and Uncle's house for Christmas with the family. We are really excited because my dad wasn't able to be with the family last year due to a stem cell transplant to treat cancer (1 year remission!!!)
@kjplaza I agree with everyone else that it's odd that your doctor won't even discuss doing more than one embryo. Our doctor said that because we aren't doing PGS testing (ethical reasons) that the decision was ours. He only asked if we were ok with having twins.
@thucks and @mtpbadger I'm super impressed you can do your own PIO shots! I can do the sub q's, but wow! I'm doing the suppository because I have a moderate needle phobia and my RE said the PIO has to be done inter-muscularly, and I would stress waaaaay too much for that.

@LeFemmeViolette I do the same thing that @mtpbadger does. Put weight on the opposite leg twist myself around and do it. I've gotten pretty good left-handed lol. @amanning2011 The first PIO of the round kind of psych's me out I really have to talk myself into it but after that I'm all good. @thucks@mtpbadger Does the fact that you need to push hard on the plunger make it difficult? I will absolutely try heating it up first to thin it out...

@lefemmeviolette the only thing that I find difficult is the "pulling back" on the plunger to make sure a vein wasn't it - that's difficult to do with one hand but do-able. I heat it up by sticking it in my bra for about 5-10 minutes and that seems to have been enough. I'm also WAY better at doing it on one side vs the other just because it's more comfortable for me and the other side is a little more awkward

@LeFemmeViolette I agree with @mtpbadger the pulling back is harder cause you need to keep one hand on the spot to stretch the area. An I'm also better at it on my right side than my left. @rainbowwishes5 PIO is progesterone in oil. I use this vs the suppository pills. I've had some rounds where I'm only on it for 10 days then switch to the pills. last round we did the whole thing PIO. I had a better outcome than before. I can't say that switching was the reason I had a CP vs a BFN but it was the onlything we had switched in my protocol.

@BecauseLove I take my last BCP tomorrow ! Starting estrogen pills and gel next Wednesday, curious how I will feel since the holidays will be in full force when I'm taking all of that. I don't get checked until Jan. 4 which is 2 weeks on those doses.
Glad to hear many of you don't have steroids ordered.
We got delayed b/c of the embryologist being "out of town " for all December cycles. Got notified out of the blue from her that she actually left the practice! I freaked out for a day until my RE called and settled my mind. Still on for Jan 9th but with new Embryologist. Phew.

@JESSABER0414 awesome! That makes me feel better, thanks. I'm actually just doing it to promote ovulation for my FET. So actually it doesn't even matter how many follies I have... although technically I guess we could still try naturally in addition to the FET! Hello ladies! I have not joined in much, but I am part of the OCT/NOV IVF group. We met with our doc today to go over our PGS results, and 4/4 are normal, 2 boys 2 girls. Today we decided to go with the Embryologists suggested embryo, which is a 4AB girl Stopping birth control tonight, and starting patches as soon as period starts. We will have our transfer the first week of January!
I had a question about nutritional prepping before the transfer. I have endometriosis as well as high inflammation, and was wondering if anyone avoided certain foods before FET. I know pretty much everything that i love (red meat, coffee, sugar, alcohol) is frowned upon, but wanted to hear if any of you ladies had any suggestions! I guess I am just scared to cause my endo to flare up and mess up my uterine lining and cause an issue with implantation.
2 Laps and 1 Abdominal Myomectomy 6 rounds of clomid 5 rounds of iui Several HSG's sprinkled throughout the years to up my chances of a BFP Several dilation of cervix because they suspect the scar tissue is hindering it from fully opening (partially adds to the severe cramps all month) IVF #1 Gonal F, Menopur and Cetrotide ER 12/1/2016
ER-Retrieved 22 eggs 10 fertilized 4/4 day 5 embryos were normal for PGS!!! 2 boys/2 girls FET 1/10/2017 Gallbladder surgery 1/10/2017 FET estimated end of Feb, beginning of March
@winnie81 do they normal tell you the sex of the embryo??

I'm anxious to get this all started- I have to say that it is definitely dominating my thoughts instead of the usual holiday excitement that I usually experience.

Our first go-round I told my RE I planned to stay in bed the entire rest of the day after transfer.

Its definitely always our decision our FET paperwork has us choose 1 or 2 embryos and i dont think
he could stop us if we choose that.

I'm doing a no Lupron cycle- I'm not sure the benefit of not doing it... It wasn't explained to me and I didn't ask (although I did wonder).
12/19 -I go off BCP on the 19th
12/20 - Baseline appt
12/22- Start delestrogen 2x a week.
1/7 - PIO, prometrium, prednisone, doxycycline
