So many teachers here! I teach third graders in a rural elementary school in WV. Love the kids and dislike the job anymore. Planning to stay home in August and take care of this baby for at least a year.
I also am a Beauty Counter Consultant and work for an amazing company whose mission is to bring safer skin care items to the masses. I really hope to further my career with them when I take leave next school year.
+1 for the teachers! I have taught elementary school for 12 years in NJ. It has become a different world since I started and I'm on the fence about what to do after this LO comes. I'm 34 and assuming all goes well, would like to have another close in age due to my age.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I'm a CPA. It can be crazy but I love it. I've been in public accounting, government and back to public and know it's where I'm meant to be! Not sure how pregnancy during tax season is going to go!
I'm an attorney. I work in health policy for a government contractor. I write federal health care policy for CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
I was an interior architect for a specialty grocery store before I had my DD. After she arrived last February, I decided to stay home and occasionally pick up work drafting floor plans for a former boss who is a residential designer. It's nice to make a little money here and there but also get to stay home with my baby. Also nice not to be stuck in an office while pregnant... that was torture especially since my belly was ridiculously ginormous towards the last few months of pregnancy ugh.
I'm a civil engineer with an emphasis in environmental and water aspects. I haven't been working long, I just graduated with my B.S. in May and finally found work in my career field in September. Excited for my little one on the way, but nervous about the job because I'll be one month shy of being at work for a year when I'm due. But it's a great company, so I doubt it will be a problem.
I'm a SAHM. I went back to work for 7 months, but due to some health reasons, quit my job. I wanted to stay home, anyway. I worked for a non profit that assists senior citizens and disabled individuals get in home support services like meals on wheels, help with personal care, and housekeeping. Now I have a little business at home making custom vinyl items.
I am a SAHM currently but have my degree in Social Work and Psychology. I previously worked as a social worker for the state of MO. I plan to stay home with my kids while they are young and then go back as a school counselor. I love working with young teens.

Congrats on both finding a great job and getting KU'd. I recommend you find out about your FMLA policy soon so you can start planning. I obviously don't know the company you work for but most are sticklers with policies. If it happens to state that you need to work there a year before you qualify for those benefits, you may not get much leave at all

I'm an assistant store manager for a department store. I absolutely love it and will be going back after my leave. My husband already stays home with our son so it's an easy decision to make.
I have my interior design degree and I work as a designer for a hospital. I work with the group who is responsible for any changes in space. My husband was a manager of a nursery for about 6 yrs. The last two yrs he has slowly left that job and now he owns a landscaping company.
I'm an account manager for a medical device that helps women with breast cancer/mastectomies. I was previously a professional dancer and fitness model. Im also a mommy to a 3 year old boy
@bumpybump don't stress her out! With my first I got pregnant a month after starting a new job. I didn't qualify for FMLA, but when you work for a company that doesn't suck, of course they'll hold your job! I even had 10 weeks full paid (100%) maternity leave.

@Peedy I'm not trying to stress her out. I'm trying to have her find out early so she's aware and not surprised if it's not in her favor. I hate to say it but not all companies are "wonderful."

I am a high school chemistry and English teacher,a product photographer, and a graphic designer. My goal is to one day be only a chemistry teacher so I can stay home more with my son and soon to be baby...
I am a tax attorney working for a public accounting firm! We are lucky to get such flexibility at my company with working from home and maternity leave however with that comes the price of stress!!!
I am the school admin at a Primrose in MN, have been in this position since my ds was born 8/2013. Prior to that I spent 15+ years as an infant teacher.
Another teacher here! I teach first grade in Texas and will start selling raw skincare products at our local farmer's market in the new year. I'm hoping this opportunity will allow me to get a part time position at school so I can be home more. Just being honest, we are thrilled to be expecting, but an August due date gives me some anxiety! Being out on leave at the beginning of a new school year sounds a little scary to me.
@lyndshurt I feel the same way! Other BMB have created a "teacher's lounge" post that they can add onto through the months. Maybe I'll start it on Tuesday? ...because teacher nerds like alliteration!
