Re: Positive for downs blood test.... Freaking out

  • Oh. I did not do that and considering my next appt is at 20 weeks next Friday I guess I wont be.

Ugh, I'm so sorry you ladies are going through this. I really hope everything is alright and I am really thinking it is!

  • @nda_roxybabe I had the NT which came back increased risk of DS. Now I am waiting on NIPT. Materniti 21 is what was offered at the office.

@h&pmomma could be anytime next week. It takes anywhere from 8 to 14 days for these results.
  • Ladies thinking good thoughts to you!  I had panic attacks until I saw the baby on the screen.  For me I absolutely had to have the amnio to be 100%. Luckily my husband had great insurance and is all covered.

If you have any  questions about all the genetic stuff (seems like I'm a little ahead at 18 weeks)  please ask!  And know you are not alone.  Loving thoughts to you!

  • @PghMom412 hope your results come quickly!

@agt104 The waiting game between appointments is the most stressful. It causes your mind to race to all the different possibilies.

We have a "gender sneak peek" ultrasound tomorrow that I am trying to get excited about again. But I know I'm going to be over analyzing everything I see on the screen (even though I probably have no idea what I'm looking for) and I know the ultrasound tech at the boutique places won't tell us anything. I'm hoping just seeing baby will ease my mind.

  • @h&pmomma in sure seeing the baby win help!  This was a time I really wished I could have wine.  Or a Xanax!

  • We had so many people tell us about the false postive. I've had a few people I know personally get false positive with down syndrome and nothing at all was wrong with their babies that's why I was so scared to do it. Scared to have to worry if nothing is really wrong. Good luck to everyone!
  • @h&pmomma I have no advice around the genetic testing, but I will add my experience with dating ultrasound. We had our first dating ultrasound at what should have been 6+6 but baby was only measuring 6+2. Fast forward to my next ultrasound at what I assumed would be 10+2 and baby had caught right up and was actually measuring ahead at 11w(instead of 10+6 as per lmp). Long story short, dating ultrasounds can definitely be off and babies can certainly catch up quite quickly!

Thinking of all the mommas going through the next steps process with genetic testing!
