I had the saddest MOTN last night, I was awake from 2-4 and my internet wasn't working! I couldn't bump, or check the weather, or FB, or even emails! So I ate a bowl of cereal and read for an hour.
@yellingbanana i feel you! Our cable was just out for a little while and I thought I would die of boredom Thankfully it came back on before I started putting dishes away or some other crazy activity. I need my Simpsons marathon to get thru the night!
I'm here. On all fours. Trying to reposition baby into a more comfortable place. Been up since 4 with BH every so often. And yay @gowenc! That's the best feeling.
@ea301 it was a rough night! I seem to be awake every night for a few hours because I'm just so uncomfortable. And DH told me I was snoring last night, lol! Payback.... @gowenc yes!! That is a big milestone for a newbie! @maamawaabangi I have no comfortable positions left for baby to be in, they all cut off my circulation somewhere.
I woke up today at 2:30, tossed and turned until 4. Then got DH off to work with coffee and smoothie. Back to snuggling my 5 yr old for one more night it's hard to let go of her being the little one.
I will say that ive found some relief (or sleep) through "emergen-zzz" Its those drink packets like "emergen-c" and they have melatonin in them... they work like magic for me. I slept from a little after 5 until 8:30. I think my nightly (or every few night) BH episodes are starting up. I know that probably means I'm two weeks out. Dare I hope for a 40 week baby???
Definitely take advantage of the LCs in the hospital @Gizmo1231 - I so wish I had spent more time with them! Good luck and I hope you find relief (or at least feel less pain!)
@ea301 I had one visit me today who kinda helped. She told me everything looked good and so on. I'm really shocked at my hospital stay this delivery. They (staff: nurses, LC, etc) have been so hands off. I've gone hours without seeing people. Im hoping to get on the LC list right away in the morning before we get discharged so I can ask. I'm not sure if his latch is wrong or if they just hurt because they haven't been used for the last 15 months?
@Gizmo1231 so odd! I had the same hands off experience and I now regret not asking for more attentiveness (Lc and normal nurses) because I was so unprepared when we got home. Oh well! Motherhood is on the job training, I suppose. Anyway, I hope you can get on the list and that it's an easy latching fix!
Man, that is weird. I feel like they usually come in and do things all the time while in the hospital.
I'm awake, and officially hungry. But no eating for me because it's baby day! I tried to get an appointment first thing in the morning, but my RCS isn't until 12:30 I guess the upside is that I can get my kids off to school. They're going to visit and meet their brother when they get out of school, I should look kinda normal by then. I didn't want to freak them out with all the tubes and oxygen mask on me. I guess I'll just have tubes in me at that point? Haha, should be fun. But I wish I was sleeping right now.
Thanks! I can't wait either, but I'm going to be a hangry mess by then. It's only 5:00 am here and there is no way I'm falling asleep again! I'm all awake like we are going to Disneyland!
Topic for MOTN discussion: Does anyone have any tips on how to help husbands deal with the stress of a fussy or crying baby? Mine gets so frustrated when changing diapers and it seems like it piles on. The more stressed he gets, the fussier the baby gets. Vicious cycle.
Baby was latching decently on both sides by the end of his birth day, and then one nipple started cracking a bit. Baby started rejecting it, so ok, maybe he doesn't like how the nipple feels now? I figured I'd give it a break, load it up with lanolin, and hoped it would heal a bit.
It has healed a bit, but now he totally rejects it, especially since my boob is so engorged with milk that now the nipple is physically hard for him to latch onto and he gets frustrated (at least that's what I figure has happened). Breast pump due to be delivered tomorrow, thank god, because holy crap is this painful. At least one boob is working, right? Wish me luck.
@Lisa3379 oh man, good luck. I hope the pump helps with the engorgement (ouch, I know!) and that it fixes the latch problems. Your theory sounds reasonable to me but I am no expert
So I've been wiping bloody mucous for a few hours now, plus gas/diarrhea. Not sure if things are kicking in motion or what (No painful contractions). Last time my bloody show happened in the middle of labor, so now I'm all...whaaa??
@Lisa3379 if I were you I would hand express rather than waiting for that pump! It may be better for your supply and will help with engorgement and avoiding other issues. (Essentially you milk yourself in the shower or over the sink)
Painful contractions woke me up. Like similar to what I've been having fir a while so probably won't turn into anything but Jeeze they've gotten annoying

Agreed- sometimes it's hard for them to latch on a full boob when they're little! Sometimes a different hold helps too.
Well my water broke 4 hours ago. I have had two contractions since and nothing really happening. Heading to L&D at 4 am. Really hoping to not receive pitocin. At least I will have a baby soon!!
Good news! He latched on to the defective boob for about 4-5 minutes! I'll take it! And thanks for the advice regarding hand expression, I will try that for sure
@maamawaabangi - that's too funny you posted that meme. I slept about 5 hours last night and at one point actually got up, went downstairs, and began watching Elf for the first time at 3am. It's so cute! I have like 45 minutes left for this evening
@slartybartfast I love that movie and wanted to watch it last night but we didn't have time. My dh said to me this morning "you should smile... you're scowling today" first I wanted to snap him in half, but then it made me think of this meme... I wish!
My milk came in today. LO has been pretty hungry the last few days but hasn't been getting nearly enough out of me. Now he's in catch up mode and has nursed for the past 4 hours straight with only little breaks in between. He's finally asleep...here's hoping I can put him down, go to the bathroom, and get at least a little shut eye before he wakes up for the next round...
MOTN here. I've been super absent lately ladies. Newborn, Toddler DS, and preteen SD got me crazed. I wish I could go back to sleep as fast as DH but I guess it's house hunters for me. My nipples are so freaking sore I want to cry. I don't remember them being this was with DS. And I got all the emotions going on. Blah
@Gizmo1231@slartybartfast I'm sorry you guys are not enjoying the night life. Hopefully it's not annoying to hear this but for some reason I am getting so much done the night shift. Just tonight I've organized baby clothes that one of our neighbors gave us, put away a bunch of crap from the nursery (it's almost done OMG!), fed baby a couple times, changed a few diapers, updated my business page on Facebook, started organizing business cards, put together a mailer, found some office desks for a potential new job w/ my dad, designed some Christmas cards... I think I need to sleep soon
Motn here and I'm breaking my no technology between 10pm and 5am rule. Sitting on the potty waiting to poop...I need entertainment! Technically I had my first movement earlier today but it was pathetic. I know I'll feel better once it's done but my body hates me! I stand up or lay down, feel like it's time. Sit on the potty and my body says "just kidding sucker!". Ugh.
On the other hand, my milk came in and I'm getting an ounce to 2 each time I pump (combined breasts) with my manual pump. This never happened with my first so I'm stupidly happy over this!
Re: MOTN December
here I am. Just... here.
And yay @gowenc! That's the best feeling.

It's the second day in a row that he's been ready to seize the day at 4 am.
