Rough night for us as well. DS was awake from 9 last night to 5 this morning. Every time he would catch himself dozing off, he'd scream and cry. DH was oblivious to it all. This mama is tired today.
Anyone else up? I have no idea how I am still awake. Had a really rough last night and didn't really nap during the day. Adrenaline rush maybe?
So ... since I am up, I really should be doing my Christmas cards but I ended up going down the rabbit hole and googling my college ex-bf. The first thing that comes up when you search for his name is a recent mugshot. Sad!!
@ea301 - I'm up. LO won't sleep unless someone holds him and it's my shift. Also, he was due for a feed at 12:30 and I spent the past 2 hours trying to wake him up enough to eat for more than 5 mins and he's finally awake and eating.
@penelope1019 aw man, that is rough! How are you holding up? I have the night shift too... she's currently sleeping but I think she might be waking up for a snack and diaper change.
@sourlemon the coughing when lying down is because of too much post-nasal drip. It is just how some people are built, and can be hereditary! I got it from my mom, she got it from my grandpa. Fun! Drink more liquids, or do a nasal rinse like the netti pot.
@ea301 try lying down, I'm so tired!!! Must feed though...
@ea301 It's only our second night home so I'm managing but hoping that this is not a long term issue. I don't mind waking up to feed every few hours but being up for half the night is going to really cause issues quickly because I'm not great at napping (althoughthis may change soon). What's your schedule like? Tonight I slept from 10ish - 12:30 while DH held him and then after LO has his second feed (probably around 4:30 or 5) I'll wake up DH and hopefully get back to bed from 5-7. We both tried napping at different times today but neither of us had any luck. Tomorrow LO had a drs appt at my prime nap time (usually he'll sleep for 2-3 hours around 11am and DH can hold him) so I'm not sure how that will go.
Welcome home and good luck finding a good schedule @penelope4612 . It's hard to know what will work, trial and error is really the best.
I was about to pass out again, but DH was watching the Walking Dead. I gave up on it last season, but just hearing it kinda wakes me up.
My eyes are all swollen and puffy from being so emotionally and physically drained earlier. I'm really upset with myself for not staying an extra night at the hospital, I could have avoided the situation that I'm in. They didn't take my c-section staples out because it wasn't healed well enough. Long story short, my scar is now infected and my road to recovery has been lengthened. Also, I've got mastitis. I'm just a hot mess. My DH tried to ask me a question and I just started crying and blubbering all over him. Ugh, I think I need a bow of cereal...
@yellingbanana - I'm sorry about the staples and mastitis, that sounds terrible. A bowl of cereal, however, sounds amazing. But I just sort of woke up LO by bringing him to the bathroom so I need to wait a little bit before our next field trip. Does anyone else hold their baby while they pee? If I put him down he'll cry and it wouldn't be a big deal in the middle of the day but we live in an apartment and I don't know how well my neighbors can hear him so I don't want to cause trouble in the middle of the night.
@penelope4612 aw shucks, thanks. I got spoiled in the baby arena, mine is pretty happy anywhere as long as he has his needs met. But DD2 was like that, she just wanted to be held forever. Maybe try baby wearing? Then at least you have 2 hands. Or just put baby down and let him cry, it's ok, if people don't understand then that is their problem.
@yellingbanana I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles! I think it's probably even harder on you since you know how it can be without all these extra obstacles these first few weeks are so long!
@penelope4612 my DD was like that! It's hard.. baby wearing saved us for sure
@yellingbanana thinking of you! Dealing with both of those things at once has to be hard!
@penelope4612 I definitely peed with the baby. I agree baby wearing is a savior because of the two hands...although I find it hard to pee wearing a baby, so that's probably one thing it wont change, haha.
@penelope1019 i think my schedule is pretty crazy but it works for me because I find it really hard to get up multiple times per night. I am up while hubby sleeps, 10 or 11pm until 6 or so. I sometimes catch a few winks when baby's asleep overnight but the first couple weeks I was up most of the time. Then i usually sleep from 7 until 11 or so, and nap when I can throughout the day. Today is weird because I'm still up at 930. About to crash out though ... sweet sweet sleep!

Ask for help, if you have people you can ask from. Hugs lady!
