I haven't even told my boss yet. I was going to do it this week but now I think I will wait a little longer.......

I don't think I'll make it past next Thursday for our Christmas party as I won't be drinking... not that I'm a lush but it is where most folks have at least a drink and I always have in the past... or when we go out to happy hour to celebrate birthdays and those that are leaving.
Haven't told my boss yet and he is based put of another office in a different state. I got my performance review and bonus amount all squared away last week... I'm thinking about telling him when he is in town for the Christmas party but I'm slightly scared to have to tell him in person... and I was just hoping to avoid it a little longer but I think he needs to know before anyone in my office location.
I told my boss and coworkers about 2 weeks after I found out. I'm one of those people who can't wait. Also, I needed to let my boss know in case I had to suddenly change my schedule for a sudden appointment.
I was already showing (twins) at 9 weeks. I had told my boss at 6 weeks because telling her early actually makes me less anxious because of the MMC. I get so worried when I keep important things, and if the worst had happened, I didn't want her to think I was keeping a secret. I know, I know.
Anywhooooo I told my co-workers at 11 weeks in the weekly meeting I run for the team leads on my project. However, I'm a senior project manager for our Information Security, and it's going to be an ordeal for them to find a replacement. And every time I've told management level, the next thing out of their mouths after "congratulations" is "who are they getting to replace you?" Awesome, guys.
So I sort of sound like a special snowflake or something, but it's not that. It's that people are all up in my business, so I made it an announcement to get it over with.
Everyone else can hear through the grapevine.

I told my Ops manager, HR director and then my direct supervisor at 12 weeks. Everyone else I've just been throwing it randomly into conversations when I see them. I only work 2 days per week, and each day is at a seperate clinic, so catching people is tough! I'm def. showing though being I'm 15 weeks on Thursday. People who don't know will start suspecting if they aren't already!
I told my management team last week after my second OB appointment. I shared with the rest of my department today, mostly so I can start mentioning when smells are way too strong for my pregnant nose.
I kind of regret sharing. Got some weird responses that just made me uncomfortable, but I guess that was going to happen no matter when I share the need!
Most of my close teacher friends know. I will not be announcing to the entire staff though. I told my bosses before Thanksgiving. I am considered high risk so they needed to know because I will be out for apts.
I told my boss at 11 weeks just because my nausea was so bad I wanted to explain what was going on, but I also trust him a lot because he's a fantastic leader. Had it been one of my previous managers (all women sadly), I would have waited until I was showing because they've all been incredibly unsupportive and regularly talked shit in front of me about other women who were pregnant in the department. I've told a few coworkers, but I'm not really going out of my way, just mentioning it if it comes up.
Totally a personal choice. With my angel I told my boss and everyone else at like 5 weeks. I was too excited and also didn't know what our matrnity leave policy was like and needed to plan way ahead. Then we miscarried but it was a good thing for my boss to know because I was so distraught I couldnt go to work and needed a d and c so he let me take 2 weeks off to grieve and heal.
Now I'm in a different department where I work in the office but my team and boss are all remote. I can announce whenever because no one sees me in person. As for co-workers in office with me I won't be able to hide much longer. 12 weeks and I'm starting to show. I've been wearing baggy clothes. Lol I'm waiting for my second ultrasound. Then I will tell my boss and co workers. I will make some email announcement or announce during a meeting. Lol
I told my boss last week at 12w5d. I just started in September and was very afraid of what she'd say. She was very supportive and happy about it (and the timing lol).
I work closely with 3 other teachers and I've told two of them but the third is a male coworker and I don't know if it's weird to just say it.
I told my Team when I was about 7 weeks because I was having bad nausea and kept leaving the classroom while I was training my newest Team Member.
Told the leadership in our office gradually over the last couple of weeks.
I will tell my boss during our weekly touch base at the end of the week (I run a remote Team). I looked forward to telling everyone else... but not my boss. It's weird but I think it's because I don't really trust her.
I haven't told anyone at work yet. I'm an intern so I don't technically "work" there. So, me being pregnant really means nothing to them professionally as I'm finished in May and due in June. I started mid September and I just don't feel like I know anyone that well, so I kind of feel weird telling people? I've started to show, so I'm kind of just waiting for someone to say something.
Oh gosh... It's so complicated. Yes, I'm going to just wait to start to show and answer any questions - obviously. I feel like that's personal news and I'm not best friends with anyone at school.
Haven't told yet but I plan to next week after I hear the hb again and am in the 2nd tri. I am going to do that thing where you bring in pastries and put a note on it to the effect of "My mama doesn't want to be the only one with a belly - Love, Baby G". That way I don't have to walk around and tell everyone individually! I will tell my boss the day before.

I just told my team secretary - she was over the moon excited and started crying tears of happiness. I plan on telling my boss tomorrow...I know she'll be excited at first, and then slightly freak out when she realizes that I'll be missing from work for 4 months for maternity leave For the rest of my colleagues/leadership, I'll tell them as the opportunity arises...during monthly 1:1 check-ins with executives, etc.
I told my boss early because going through IF treatment makes the added monitoring time off a bit difficult. Luckily my boss was awesome about it and I just let the larger team know yesterday now that I'm nearly 13w and it is getting more difficult to find clothing to cover my growing blump.
I did a combination of both. I am a field supervisor but also spend time in the office at our headquarters in Lansing, MI. I told our management team during a meeting that our general manager was also present for. For my field staff, a lot of them were my friends before I became their boss. If I didn't tell them in person they have seen it on Facebook. For our office staff, I'm going to wait until word spreads or I start to show.
I told my director and a few colleagues a couple of weeks ago (at 9 weeks). We've started to discuss who will oversee certain programs in our department over the course of the next year/year and a half. I told those I work closest with, so that I could avoid the hassle of being assigned certain programs during my anticipated maternity leave and then trying to redistribute them.
My director/boss is someone who will help be an advocate for me with HR for a leave longer than 12 weeks so I wanted to start that process now, and with her in my corner!
I'm just kicking myself... I had someone reach out to me about a potential new role (internal) via a casual lunch yesterday and just told them now wasn't a good time because I am pregnant so I'm not looking to make a move at this time. I told them that I hadn't told my boss yet or anyone really but felt like I needed to be upfront with her as we have a good working relationship.
Well... now I feel like I'm under the gun to tell my boss... just in case she shares my news... so I reached out to try to catch my boss for a few minutes today buy he is impossible to get and I can't set up camp outside his office as he is in a different state... so nervous but kinda ready to just get it over with!!
Told my boss this morning. She responded with "Thank you for FINALLY telling me!!!" Apparently she figured it out a couple of months ago - when I stopped drinking coffee and wine. We've been on a few business trips together in the last few months, so it's pretty obvious when I'm not having a glass of wine at happy hour. She's a mom of 3 herself so is very understanding. I'm thankful to have such a supportive boss.
I told my bosses today too, and it was so fun. I'll begin telling colleagues gradually as it comes up. Trying really hard to not be obnoxious about it... which is hard bc I'm so excited after a good 13 week u/s and NT scan today!
I did it! Finally told my boss and it feels so good to finally tell him and then be able to tell the few co-workers that I am close to in the office... I don't know why but it feels like you are announcing to your boss...
HEY, OVER HERE, I DID THE NASTY AND NOW HAVE PROOF!!!!
I know that is super dramatic and not at all what I said, but I think that is why it feels so awkward... haha!
@michaela0704 Thats how I felt every time I have told my parents!!! I mean, I guess they must know DH and I are intimate but telling them I'm pregnant felt like I was telling them, Hey, we did the deed!! Even worse when telling my younger brother

I totally feel like that every time I share the news! From parents to family to collegues! How embarrassing!! FYI- I'm 38 and still feel like that!

Same here!! When I told my older siblings... FYI! I'm 38, but the "baby."
I hate the big announcement. not my style. I actually might just tell my boss via email bc I don't want his boss to find out until after our holiday party, and he'll be on vacation at that point. if my boss's boss finds out before the party he'll either put me on the spot to tell the entire 35 person group right then or he'll announce it for me and I'm not interested in any of that. as far as I'm concerned I'll tell my immediate group and everyone else will just figure it out when I start getting fat. people I don't see in person can find out when I inform them of my upcoming leave in like May.
I haven't told my boss just yet. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow so planning on next week. One girl here guessed as we were discussing a few things. I'm nervous as I started here in September, not really close with my boss, and originally thought I wasn't entitled to FMLA because of being here less than a year and also looking at the employee handbook. However thankfully my state (Mass.) has different requirements so I will be eligible.
I agree with PP about how awkward the conversation is. I told my husband it's basically, "So, a while ago I had sex, it was successful, and now I need three months off of work to take care of this tiny monster growing inside me!"
Not that my baby is a monster... but the past two weeks it's felt like it with the nausea.
I'm planning to tell my boss after my next appt. next week (I'll be 11+6), along with my 2-3 week vacation request in the spring for our anniversary. I've been waiting just because of my PGAL nervous self, and not so much of how it will be received. But I need to get it out there so he can work it into plans for next year. I'll probably just let a couple of people I work with know after that, but really I'm just gonna let people figure it out for themselves.
@kassyfry@NYCProf just saw the posts from y'all about how awkward it is to announce... I feel the exact same way! I was excited to tell my close girl friends (4 of them) but outside of that, I just feel awkward!!! I feel awkward telling my parents, was ok telling my little brother - wasn't too weird - at least less awkward than my folks, and then work... just don't get me started... my boss last pregnancy and my new boss for this pregnancy are both a little younger than my father but definitely 20+ years older than me with grown kids, so they're understanding but still... just so awkward, or maybe I'm just awkward... either way, I hate it!
