Sorry for those of you dealing with annoying people telling you that you're trying too hard. What utter nonsense. I have to be SUPER careful who I tell I'm ttc in the yoga community because they are weird to extreme about it. I've heard a lot of "Oh that desperate energy will block conception" and other ridiculous bullshit. Hippies can be super annoying about fertility.
@thebookisbetter I will be starting a new job soon and I'm in my 9th month of trying. If you think this other job might be a good thing for your family maybe you ought to consider applying. I've worked through a lot of the same emotions you're probably having so tag me or PM me if you want to chat.
R/R: Dear Diary alert: don't read if you don't want to read my pity party. I took a HPT this morning because masochist, and of course, BFN. Then I went to work and it's "Moms Meetup Monday" so I get to set up a coffee & snacks event for a dozen moms and their adorable babies, and then I get to watch them for 2 hours while I check my email. To add insult to injury, AF arrived very violently around 8am. Terrible cramps and pain shooting down my leg, so bad I had to fight off tears and go home for lunch. I took some pamprin when I got home and am trying to calm down so I can go back to work and finish 1,000 projects that have all gone off the rails. I do have a rave, which is that FF updated my FW to a few days after I get back from my work trip, and DH has a "good feeling" about this cycle so it's nice to have him excited and on board.

@vegetalienne I would think you should be regulated by now. I have heard that a cycle length can vary depending on which ovary is releasing the egg but that would account for only 2 different cycle lengths. Maybe someone else can provide more insight.

We aren't sure what issues he actually had and don't want to ask his mom because we haven't told family we are TTC. I know I shouldn't be worried until we are closer to the year mark, but it's looming in the back of my mind. Dr Google told me male fertility issues are often environmental which made me feel a little better. But is that kind of thing often passed from father to son? Sorry I know it's not helpful we don't actually know what his issues were
CS/Q: Anyone have knowledge of male fertility issues and what the chances are they could be hereditary? (See above)

@lulu1180@swimsister Thanks for the encouragement ladies (and congrats on the new job, swimsister!)...It's partially inertia keeping me at my job, I have to admit. It's not at all fun, my job, and the workload is unmanageable at times, but I have been doing this job for the better part of a decade now, so I am comfortable in my discontent. I don't need to worry about not knowing what I am doing, getting along w/new people, making new friends, etc. It's scary to think about change, and possibility of regret/failure. I really should just give myself a swift kick in the butt and apply for the other spot though-see what else is out there.
@vegetalienne my cycles vary quite a bit, anywhere from 30 to 39 days. They seem to average about 35ish. I have it on my list of ?'s for doc at my annual visit on Friday.
@vegetalienne My cycles are never the same length, but my LP is pretty steady. But I've O'd from as early as CD19 to as late as CD25, making my cycles 31-37 days. I think it's more important that your LP is long enough (10+ days), and doesn't matter so much what your overall cycle length is. My doctor didn't even seem concerned that my O was so late but who knows.
@lulu1180 I will bring it up with the doc next time I see her. I'm also thinking I have sometimes marked spotting and sometimes marked real flow as CD1 in the past so I will go back and do some detective work

@thebookisbetter I lost my last job after I had DS. I didn't realize how miserable I was until I started my new job. I wasted five years of my life being miserable because.. reasons, none that make sense in hindsight. Don't do that to yourself. The best that can happen is you get a great new job. The worst is you don't hear back about an interview, and you're where you started. You deserve better than inertia, girl.
@thebookisbetter Obviously I don't know your life so what was good for me isn't necessarily good for you. Only you can decide that. I will just say that applying isn't accepting. Applying is just saying you're interested in more information. Best of luck, no matter what you do
@vegetalienne sorry about CD1, we fortunately/unfortunately have a lot of CD1 buddies today. My cycle has ranged from 25-28days but the first time around it would range from 28-37days. as @hartmich said I think its more important that your LP is a decent length. So many things can effect when you O.
@MrsRoberts1022 welcome. are you temping or using opks/monitoring CM or CP? At the very least I would recommend temping so that you will know when and if you have ovulated.

@LaurenEG14 CD1is counted as the first day of full red flow. As long as you counted that as CD1 then FF would be right on what CD today is. Also, if it's just mild cramping, it could be due to O. ETA are you temping to confirm O or only using OPKs?

@lulu1180 I did have a light AF at the time FF counted as CD 1. Due to my usually long cycles I never considered O could be this early. I guess I better HIO to be safe! And I think I am going to buy a BBT thermometer. I have prime so I can have one in 2 days! Any brand suggestions?

@wabash15@busymommy23@vegetalienne Heyyyy cycle buddies. @vegetalienne, I have no idea what my cycle length is (still regulating from BCP). I assume I may have a long stay here, but I guess my body could surprise me (I'm hopeful; it'd be nice to not have to BD while staying at families homes for Xmas).
@antoto, I totally know what you mean about the "hippie" community and their weird theories. A girl at my studio said she thought miscarriage could be caused by toothpaste. Luckily, I just laugh to myself.
And to everyone talking about how their moms just don't get it, I am totally with you. My mom never TTC. She got pregnant easily both times at age 33 and 36. It's hard for her to empathize with my MMC experience, and I've found just not talking about it is better because trying to get her to understand only leads to me being disappointed and frustrated.
TTC since 8/7/16 BFP 9/13/16 MMC 10/18/16 D&C 10/20/16
My mom is really into feng shui recently and told me after cycle 6 that if we wanted to have a baby, we needed to "create emotional space for the baby in our lives." I told her that was a really offensive thing to say to someone who is struggling to get pregnant, as though we'd have a baby if we just "wanted it" enough. I was really mad, and you know what? She got it. She understood that it was offensive and she hasn't said anything like that again. Obviously it depends on the relationship you have with the person, but especially if it's someone you have to deal with all the time, consider calling them on their BS. It sometimes works!
I'm back here finally - was TTA the last 3 months working on being healthier, and now we're ready to go. Looking forward to participating more (I've been lurking and love-titting like crazy)

@adirat I'm glad your mom listened to you and stopped!
@wabash15 I have been using one of those kits to check for the hormones. We were just going to let nature take its course but decided that we would try a bit harder over the weekend. So I'm going to start temping this week.
@vegetalienne mine have been varying a bit lately, from 27-29 days. I think I'd have to agree with what others have said tho; that ovulation day can vary for different reasons but as long as your LP is ten days or more then I think it's okay. Definitely ask tho, and let us know
I'd also like to add a +1 to being super sick of everyone just saying to "stop trying", "stop thinking about it and it will happen", and other similar sentiments. I mean, honestly, at a certain point you just know too much to even possibly be able to "not think about it"...I did my best last cycle but I obviously still noticed my EWCM and hyper-increased libido. I also can't ignore my post-O symptoms and knew AF would be due around the 5th. How much can we really "trick" ourselves? Ugh, it's just such a frustrating sentiment because again it implies that us not getting KU is our fault, which is not only such CRAP but it's just a damaging thought/belief. So yes, hugs to all of us courageous women
I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome back; your words made me so happy today I thought I would share with you all a picture from my walk today, in case anyone needed something pretty to look at. It's our first snow of the season and it was just breathtaking!
Just checking in now. Work was crazy because I was preparing for our holiday party tomorrow and we're having a bake off competition so I just made my dessert. Bring on the prize!
@vegetalienne my cycles have a large range, my shortest was 22 and my longest was 35. I asked my dr about it last month and she wasn't really concerned. She said a long as I'm ovulating that's what she's looking for. I will also say that I've had more spotting before AF starts (3-4 days) for the past several months. I have an u/s next week to look for any issues that might be causing it
@lee^2 I have a similar question. My MIL tends to overshare sometimes and she told me that my FIL had a low sperm count. I wondered if that was hereditary but haven't really seen any research on it.

When she got pregnant with her first born (my brother), it was her first month of BC and she didn't realize she was KU until she was 3 months along! With me it took her a year to get KU but it was because she didn't know anything about ovulation.
