@BecauseLove no we didn't do any testing. medical history doesn't show any reason to do it. We did 3 FET'S this year 2 BFN and our last one was in September with a chemical pregnancy. He's not sure the reasoning. TW we have Twin girls from IVF in 2012 so it's possible but unsure why they are not sticking now. he did change up my protocol a tad so we shall see.

@BecauseLove Initially I was supposed to start my meds on Christmas (fun right? lol) but I just spoke to one of the IVF nurses and because we'll be using progesterone suppositories instead of PIO my calendar is being changed. So now who knows.......

We're using the suppositories because my husband won't be home consistently at the times I would need him to give me the shots (and I have a needle phobia so my doctor would like to keep me as stress free as possible).

amanning2011 So does it seem you might start meds later or earlier now with the new deal? Starting on x-mas doesn't exactly sound ideal...but then again maybe the start of a holiday awesomeness of having a kiddo in 2017? Are they still planning a transfer date of 1/19?

@BecauseLove Unfortunately I don't know, they are currently working on re-doing my calendar so I haven't gotten it yet

@amanning2011 what are the meds they waned you to start on Christmas? my transfer is set for the 20th but I don't start anything until Jan 1st. I am on bcp now till the 30th.

@thucks The medication I was supposed to start was Lupron. It may be the same, just not sure now

I didn't know that the suppository changed how the calendar was supposed to work.

We've got an FET date! January 4th! And my beta will be on the Jan 16th. These dates seem so far off, but at least we have them locked down.

My RE agreed it was a good plan to do a single transfer first, and then a double if the first one doesn't take.

Spoiler alert: This retrieval yielded 3 PGS-normal female embryos, and one abnormal male embryo. Last time we got 1 PGS-normal male, and 3 abnormal female embryos. How weird is that?

Because all our embies are the same gender, we can't even tell family and friends anything about our stock! Even if this transfer is successful, if we plan on using the rest, we'll have to continue to keep it secret. So hard!!

@amanning2011 our protocol is very different than. I will start Estrace patches the 1st. hcg shot the 14th and pio start the 15th.
@LeFemmeViolette yay for a transfer date. Looks like hopefully your having a baby girl next year.

@thucks wow, yeah very different. I'll be taking (assuming my calendar doesn't change too much) Estrace pills starting on 1/2, and I don't know if I will be doing a HCG shot, they never mentioned it at the appointment yesterday.

That is awesome that you got your FET date. When (if you haven't already) do you start FET meds? Looking forward to hearing your advice as you are few days in front of my FET. That is so interesting about the girls and boy combo. I wish we got to know but they don't release that info at my dr until I think your 1st ultrasound or maybe your 2nd Beta about what they transferred (it will still be a secret what the other blasto's are as they don't share that with us).

I keep hoping we get a girl and we can provide a preference but not knowing what the blasto's genders are sorta is funny cause they could all be boys.

@BecauseLove I start estrace on Dec 17th (ironically on the date of my friend's baby shower!) And I think the PIO shots start on the 23rd. It's so interesting to hear how some clinics let you know the genders and others keep it top secret!

I think I mentioned before that if January's transfer fails, we'll do a double transfer at the risk of having twin girls. If we weren't able to know the genders, I don't know I'd be open to that because I def don't want a set of twin boys. Nope nope nope.

LeFemmeViolette I start Lurpon on 12/8 (the day after my 37th birthday) and Vivelle patches on 12/21...endometrin or prometrium started later and Medrol and Doxycycline and on 1/4 and Progesterone in Oil on 1/9 (the day of transfer)

Love your plan for if you needed another FET (but very hopeful you wouldn't need another)

@LeFemmeViolette thank you for creating the dock. I now have my transfer info and added it to the dock (1/19). This will be our third attempt at having our FET. The first one was canceled due to my 0HSS and the second attempt was canceled due to thin lining. For this one, my doctor is adding in patches as well estradiol shots to help with the lining. I start on BC tomorrow and then we'll move onto the dreaded Lupron from there. Hopefully acupuncture will help curb and the terrible headaches.

@jodes727 I just made an acupuncture appt today. I decided to book like a "trial" appt first (set for Dec 10) to make sure I like it. And then I have one tentatively set for right after my transfer. Any tips on what to expect? Other than a hit to my wallet...

@BecauseLove yes it's full of fun things so far! AF should come around the 12th which is great because the last day I can start is the 14 (my birthday). If I start after the 14th I have to do a February cycle. Praying for January! I hope December and January are good to all us ladies!!

@LeFemmeViolette I was very nervous before my first appointment for acupuncture. Now, when I have appointments I see it as an hour to relax and sneak in a quick nap

. Typically the needles do not hurt at all when they go in. I have found that I have some more sensitive areas, my ears, but other than that they go in quickly. My acupuncturist then puts on a heat lamp, some relaxing music, and I get to lay and relax. I really do enjoy it, except for the head to the wallet. My acupuncturist works with my fertility clinic so he gives you a deal on your sessions. So I pay $40 per session. He will also come to my clinic before and after my FET to do treatments there.

@jodes727 Only $40?? This place charges $120 for the initial consultation/appt (so the one im having on the 10th), and then $90 for any return visits. : ( For that rate, I def expect a successful transfer!

Hi ladies,

I have been reading posts but haven't contributed anything yet. I had my retrieval on November 12th.

We retrieved 6 eggs, 4 fertilized, 3 made it to PDS. 1 was normal.

We scheduled our FET for January 12th.

I've also been doing weekly acupuncture since October.

I'm so glad that I have found this community and I'm praying for all of you and your success .

What was an unexpected joy in 2016? Reconnecting with some family members.
What was biggest thing you learned in 2016? Fertility treatments are even harder on the spirt than they are on the wallet
What was the best way you used your time in 2016? I would say any time where my spouse and I stepped away from fertility and work to have a little fun has been the best. Be it window shopping for furniture or having friends over for a party anytime I remember to live my life and have some fun has been incredibly important and recharging.

Keeping my fingers crossed that 2018 will be a good year

Thanks for the spreadsheet @LeFemmeViolette, makes it real and exciting! My beta isn't on my calendar for FET, but for the Fresh cycle that got cancelled, it would have been 11 days later. so I was kind of assuming Friday , Jan. 20? They probably wanted to make sure at my lining check that we were on track for the 9th. that is on the 4th. if ok, I start endometrin suppositories 3 times a day and PIO once daily.
Amazes me how different our protocols are!

I don't have any dates yet but I think I will have my transfer some time in the first or second week of January if all goes as planned. I'll have a better idea once AF shows up. Thanks for including me.

Sorry I've been MIA but work has been crazy. I got my recurrent miscarriage results back and I tested positive for a MTHFR mutation. I'm not sure how this will impact our next transfer but I'm hoping for good news because I don't think I can handle another miscarriage. Sorry to be a downer, I'm just feeling a little down tonight.

I've been lurking on this thread since I'm *hoping* to have my next transfer in January but don't have a plan yet and everytime I've joined a new thread thinking I'll transfer in that month I tend to jinx myself.

@worldtravler0522 it's good/bittersweet to see you back here and hope you're doing okay! I know others on the board have the MTHFR mutation (I want to say @colleen0516 maybe?) so maybe others will have more information? I've emailed my RE about the recurrent loss panel but am waiting to hear a response but hoping it may shed some light on my issues as well.

I just got a call from my nurse And apparently not all my tests had come back yet. The nurse called to setup a follow up appointment now that everything is back. I asked if the other tests had issues and she said not that she could see. I'm trying not to panic but I'm panicking. Why didn't they setup an appointment when I talked to her Tuesday?! She made it sounds like the MTHFR was it. I'm so frustrated and scared.

And I just found out that because we are doing suppositories instead of PIO we are doing a natural transfer which means who know on dates now

I'll be taking bc until the 29th and the the rest completely depends on when my cycle starts and how I respond to meds

@amanning2011 thanks, I'm eager to meet with my doctor. My cycles are done naturally too which is frustrating because I'm always convinced that AF won't show up in a timely manner. Hoping she's on time for you!

@Worldtravler0522 this will be my first transfer and my calendar looks like one for an IUI. I'm trying to figure out when the transfer will be done in relation to everything else. Is the transfer done 36 hours after the trigger (like an IUI) or is the timing different? AF hates coming in a reasonable manner for me lol so all the well wishes that she shows after I stop the BC would be appreciated.

@amanning2011 The protocol for FET is so different than IUI, much more relaxed in some ways I think. For me I started Estrace on CD 3 and then added in PIO around CD 19. With my dr we have some control over the transfer date because ultimately we aren't waiting on anything except for my lining to be ready and then me taking PIO for 5-6 days if I remember correctly. Our transfer happened on CD 25 but like I said there is some flexibility with an FET. Waiting on AF is torture especially around this time of the year with everything going on!

Thanks for the chart @LeFemmeViolette. I have no dates yet. It all depends on AF. It may end up being the very beginning of February. I did acupuncture my fresh cycle. To be honest, I didn't like the first visit. I was so nervous that I just couldn't relax. It got better after that though. My initial session was also $120. After that I started going to the community clinic and the fees were much more reasonable. I almost felt like it was another appointment to squeeze in and it stressed me out a little. It's been recommended for my endometriosis but I haven't decided if I want to do it again. I hope you enjoy it!
