BUSTED! What gave you away?

So 3 of my friends knew I was pregnant the day after I found out. They brought this great bottle of wine to dinner and I said no thanks can I have a glass of water... BAM they all are laughing because they know! My undying love of wine is giving me away! I am now avoiding my other friends for a couple more weeks until we are ready to tell everyone. What gave you away?

Right now only my MIL knows. I've always said that I don't want to have 3 in day care at the same time. (It costs way too much! ) My oldest starts kindergarten next year, so my MIL was talking with my husband and asked if I was pregnant yet.

One of my coworkers heard me talking to H on the phone one night. He was asking me what I wanted for dinner and I was whining about having no appetite, but also wanting spicy food.

Another coworker somehow guessed that I was pregnant based on how fast I ran out of the room when an x-ray was about to be taken on a patient.

I denied being pregnant both times. I felt kind of guilty lying, but I still don't feel comfortable sharing since it's so early.

I work 1.5 hrs from home, and truthfully with travel and working from home, I've only been in the office about 5 days since my BFP a month ago.
Over the long weekend I started getting paranoid about an SCH I was convinced i saw on my ultrasound so I called the doc this morning. I had some spotting at lunch so they fit me in for another us this afternoon - 2 hours from the call. So I basically had to leave work immediately. I ended up calling my boss at home and told my closest coworker. Not the way I wanted it to go, but hiding for so long is also really stupid to me. I should have just told them earlier.

@Creedon778 We had to cancel a Christmas trip to Baja Sur and somehow that didn't give it away with my in-laws! They didn't even ask if we were TTC. I guess other people aren't obsessively tracking Zika the way I was.

Not drinking for sure. I'm a social drinker and I'm getting major side eye now that I'm turning alcohol down. Friends caught on pretty quick haha interestingly enough one of my coworkers guessed the day I found out! He asked why I had a bandaid on my arm and I merely replied "Bloodwork". He just looked at me for a minute and said "you're pregnant." I denied it, but apparently a bandaid told on me!

@cheriep3, oh my gosh, the bags under the eyes!! I mean, I know I'm tired, but I look like my mom got mixed up with a panda when she had me! Yeesh! And of course, being in Hawaii, makeup sweats right off me, if I even find the time to put it on in the first place. Such a silly pregnancy symptom to be fussing about, since it's cosmetic, but it's really annoying having everyone in my life comment that I look exhausted the moment they see me, even when they don't know I'm pregnant!

Not me yet, but I was asking my mom if there's news from my sister and she said that she isn't aware of anything. However, her pitch was raised and then went to normal. I was like, I think mom is lying! I really hope so! I was right ha ha ha ha

I have been avoiding hanging out with a few of my friends bc they will know when I say no to wine! i suggested that i could be the designated driver for a girls night and my friend said "You're pregnant?!" I felt bad about lying about it but I wasn't ready to spread the news!
Though it has been so hard for me not to blurt the news out. I will probably tell more friends soon. I don't think i can make it 3 more weeks until the 2nd trimester !

i told everyone close to me, close family and best friends. today i had to tell my boss because the office is planning a dune bashing activity and she was pressuring me to go. the thought of it makes my stomach turn!

rant: don't you hate it when people ask if you're pregnant?! i mean i knew for a fact that my co worker was pregnant cause she quit smoking and suddenly started eating healthy but i never said anything and i waited until she was ready to tell me, why can't people do that

I just found out yesterday that my stealth "fake drinking" plan didn't work at a dinner party I was at last week (I fake sipped and periodically poured out beer from dark beer bottles throughout the night). I'm typically a drinker - and they were all drinking amazing wine, ugh! - so despite my efforts, it was a dead giveaway to them. My friend said they all asked her if I was pregnant immediately after I left! Oy. I don't know how I'm going to manage this heading into holiday party season. I think I'll probably have to tell a coworker or two to help cover for me (and be my fake drinking wine partner since I really am not regularly a beer drinker)!

My sister and step mom figured it out separately over Thanksgiving. I guess they couldn't think of any other possible reason why I would pass up a good beer.

Wine. dead give away with me. I had to fake drink a lot before we told people. And even then, certain people who were paying attention caught on.

Another big one for me was football. DH and I play on a touch football team on Saturday mornings. Once we got our BFP, I obviously didn't want to play. Coming up with believable excuses for 6 Saturdays in a row was very difficult - the team caught on after like 2 weeks haha.

It didn't give it away necessarily but it did make one girl curious at work:

I had a headache and knew I could not take my typical Aleve so I went around asking for Tylenol. After I finally came out she said she had a feeling I was pregnant because the only time women ask for Tylenol is when they are pregnant, lol!

I I have a conference next week and I have a feeling I'll have to tell my boss and my direct report who are going to be there with me. Because everyone drinks at conferences and I would normally be no exception.

I was ALMOST outed on Thanksgiving at my in-laws. We haven't announced to extended family/grandparents yet, and at Thanksgiving, DH's cousin announced, after turning down a glass of sangria, that she just found last week that she's pregnant. So instantly everyone was saying "you're next" and bringing up the fact that I hadn't drank either. We were able to play it off since I'm not much of a drinker anyway, but it was a close call.

That happened to my sister! My sis, mom, aunt and I were out for dinner at a local restaurant where all the waitresses know my sis. She kept coming up and asking my sis if she wanted a glass of wine to which she kept replying no. I already knew but my Mom and Aunt didn't. Well, after a few annoying prompts from the waitress (I was ready to punch her in the face lol!) my Mom finally goes, "Do you have something to tell us?" BUSTED!

Luckily I don't have the alcohol issue. Don't get me wrong, I love beer like most women love wine! But a new medication had me off alcohol for a while and because of it, I don't drink that much anymore anyways. I haven't had anyone figure it out on their own ... yet.

Not busted, but wine is a big part of the reason we told my in-laws over Thanksgiving! We're an Italian family, and there was NO way I could get away with being at their house for 5 days without red wine.

We did pull off a good show at Thanksgiving dinner (it was with extended family who we weren't ready to tell yet) - I bought a bottle of the non-alcoholic wine, poured it into a cleaned out red wine bottle, and only drank from that. I have another bottle on standby in case we have friends over in the coming weeks. We also drink a lot of beer (or at least I used to) so we'll also do the La Croix in a beer bottle trick if need be!

This!!! I look like I have aged 10 years the past several weeks. Take one look at me and you know something is up, even if we aren't telling people yet!

Yes!!! I had to pack my own because my mom will know if I don't ask for Ibuprofen that I'm pregnant. Tylenol doesn't do much for me.

Oh last time I was pregnant I ate salami and my sister was like ha! You're eating weird stuff! Then I lied to her because it was 6 weeks in. Then I learned I wasn't supposed to eat deli meats... Oops

My pregnancy "glow" (greasy oil face) gave it away. I find it super rude when people ask if you are pregnant. If I wanted people to know I would announce it! Someone at work asked and said I just had that "pregnancy glow". I was so caught off guard that I said yes and begged she not tell anyone. Of course she told people.

I think my office mate knows whats up because of my drastic change in eating habits. The nausea's driving me crazy, I have to eat a little applesauce or cereal every hour or so.

Vomiting at Thanksgiving was my give-away for a few family members. That, and not drinking. I thought I was in the clear and went upstairs when I felt sick, but I guess people were still up there talking! Whoops!

I had gone out and bought saltines, ginger ale and tea and gin gins candies. My husbands grandma guessed. I asked her to keep it a secret, because although my pregnancy with my son was not a difficult one, miscarriage is still my biggest fear and I would rather deal with it alone if it were to happen. She basically told EVERYONE. We all got a bad stomach flu over thanksgiving and for some reason, she just couldnt accept that I had it too and it wasnt morning sickness. And it I am only at like 7 weeks at the most. Isnt that supposed to be my news to give?

everyone knew before i did, i took a test to prove them wrong and shut them up but they said i was just way more emotional than usual and i was preggo (I was only 3 weeks lol)

Ugh. I'm so sorry she did that! It is most definitely your news to share, when and how you want to share it! One reason we are not telling people yet is because of those that can't keep other people's news a secret. **TW** With our first pregnancy we told our parents very early and asked that they not say anything. MIL apparently decided she just couldn't keep quiet and told some friends and relatives. However, she neglected to tell them when we lost the pregnancy which made for some very awkward situations later when people would congratulate us.

I thought I texted my husband asking if he liked a certain name for a girl. I texted my neighbor... I caught the mistake a second too late and instantly followed up telling her that the text was meant for another friend and to disregard. She immediately replied Wait!! What!! Does this mean you are pregnant??!??? I was barely 7 weeks at the time - felt like such a dummy for outing myself wayyyy before I was ready.

I haven't been "outed" really yet. I made it through a family wedding drinking seltzer and cranberry, but on Thanksgiving my sweet Mommom couldn't hold it in any longer and announced to my mom's whole side of the family. It's fine, because then I can just tell her if something happened and she'll tell everyone, and I'm close with a few of my cousins so I don't mind them knowing. No one else has noticed, but people keep commenting on how tan I look! LOL I live in Pennsylvania, so it's definitely the windburn and I guess a bit of "glow" haha

All of my closest friends and family know. I'm not one to keep anything in. I like to have a support system around me at all times and friends that i can talk to about what I'm going through. If something were to happen, I would need those people more than ever...so I am not one to try and keep it all hidden, because the thought of suffering through an early loss alone is scarier than having everyone find out I'm pregnant at 6 weeks.
With that being said, I threw my husband a surprise party for his 40th birthday And after a few too many shots of tequila, he announced it to everyone there. So it wasn't really my decision that all of our friends found out literally days after my BFP. I was barely 4 weeks!

These 2 guys at work asked if I wanted to join them for lunch at a sushi place. I was like no I don't want sushi. And then one of them says oh you don't like sushi but you have a greeting card on your cubicle with sushi rolls on it... (which I got when I was back from maternity leave because my friends knew how I missed sushi).

So by then I was sure they were on to me. But nope. Men are clueless. Ha ha ha.

@ThePecks ha ha our office is 80% women. I just happen to have 2 guy friends. Actually my boss, a woman, is such a spy. She picks up hidden signs all the time. Last time she was the one who busted me. Which sucked because I really wanted to give her the courtesy of telling her officially.
