Has anyone been looking at strollers yet? My DS will be almost 2 when this little boy is born. I was looking at the contours elite and the city select.. after putting my DS in them right now he seems like he's going to be too big. He already is maxing out the seat it seems and he's not unusually large. The side by side strollers have larger seats but they seem like such a pain to weave around stores and such. My DH says we wont even need a double stroller because when he is 2 he will be walking more... I still think for going to the zoo or other places we will need a double stroller and we are pretty active and currently go for walks almost daily. Anyone else looking at strollers already?
@lrwardrop I'm looking at double strollers right now too. LO will be 22 months when this baby is born. There was a thread about double strollers previously and after doing some internet searching and reading after that, I'm more interested in the side-by-side. I haven't been to a physical store to put DS in it yet but am digging the BOB 2016 Revolution FLEX Duallie Stroller, Black.

There was a good thread on this a few weeks ago. We still use a stroller for DD who is 3.  I plan to get a cheaper double stroller/ sit-n-stand like a Graco.

ETA: not being picky about post placement.  I just mean the thread is a good read on double strollers.

  • My plan re: stroller is to get a decent looking one off Craigslist. I think it'll be nice to have one, but we have a pretty sweet single stroller that I hope to get some use out of with DS, with the baby in a carrier for the first few months. I'll be avoiding a side by side, as those look super bulky and difficult to maneuver, but other than that, I'm not very particular.

Twin mom speaking on double strollers, I have the City Select Double (tandem) and City Mini Double GT (side by side). I've also had a couple of others but these are the 2 I will always hang on to while we have kids.  I prefer SBS strollers, they are super easy to push and for me a ton easier than tandem strollers.  The City Select has a smaller footprint than most tandems though (still not as easy to push as a SBS IMO) but a great stroller for an infant + a toddler since you can convert back and forth from single to double very easily.

ETA: surprisingly there is only like a 4 inch difference in the width between the 2

  • I know there's the other thread, and I read a lot of those as it was being discussed. I thought that I was having one baby at the time so i figured we'd continue to use the single stroller and wear the newborn/let my DD walk and use stroller for baby. Now that we know we'll be adding two, should I just get a double stroller and wear whoever is needing to nurse/is fussy/let my dd walk sometimes? I don't need a triple stroller do i?
  • @Jkp7749 how old will your DD be?  My kiddos will be almost 2.5 when #3 is born.  I'm debating  getting a universal seat that I can attach to the back of the stroller, and when we go out as a family (with DH) bring the double and a single.  I am also planning on baby wearing a lot so I might just do that instead of the seat adapter, still making up my mind on that though.

I told DH that if I can find a Valco Tri Mode for an amazing deal (used) then I would jump on it.  My friends that have it swear by it I just don't know if I can justify the price new since I don't know how long we will need it.

  • DD will be 22 months old. I enjoyed wearing her but don't know if it'd be good to have the option of having all three in the stroller.
  • Thanks for the recommendations. I'm hoping I can find a deal on a side by side... particularly the city mini gt... I've also been looking at diaper bags. I currently have a petunia boxy backpack and love it but its just not big enough for 2 kids. Thinking about the ju ju be be prepared but it seems sooo big or the mud pie bigger bundle. I don't really enjoy carrying around a bunch of unnecessary crap but with a newborn there so much to tote around it seems.. I guess I don't know how much a 2 year old will even need when we go places.

Gosh, I feel for you girl!  My twins are 22 months and wanting to run all over the place, they fight me to go in the stroller but there is no way I'm chasing them without the stroller right now.  At 22 months though mine still get tired at places like the Zoo so at the minimum I'd bring your carrier everywhere when you're by yourself.

  • I've been comparing the city mini gt double and the BOB 2016 flex duallie revolution and have been leaning more towards the city mini gt. I'm pretty bummed as I just learned that our Peg perego primo viaggio infant seat isn't compatible. I was really digging the easy fold of the gt.  :'( But, the BOB still got some rave reviews! (Will have a 22 month old when this baby is born.)

what have you ladies decided on?

  • I don't exactly fit in this category as DD will turn 3 a week before this baby is born. Just wanted to pop in and say. I've decided to get the 2017 Britax B-Ready and get the second seat for airports and such. It ends up being the best bang for my buck and DD really hates the stroller, she walks everywhere. I just need an option for airports.

@mrsrep123 I really like our double city mini gt, but if you are wanting a stroller to jog with it is not the stroller you're looking for.  My only other issue is the seat can cause your LO to slouch pretty badly, my kids don't complain, but it doesn't seem comfortable.  I can try and find a pic if you'd like, I asked a lot of twin mom friends and that seems like the only real complaint.

Ps. The fold is awesome lol.

  • Mine are going to be 14 months apart! Ready for a wild ride I guess.

I've been looking at strollers too, but I really don't want to part with my Stokke xplory. I'll never find anything that is as easy and functional. Problem being the only option for two is a little scooter board for the older one to stand on. I don't see it being a huge problem, but I also know she will sometimes want to sit instead of stand/walk. But I LOVE the stroller. Haha!
  • @chickyclg good observation about the slouching. Normally I'd probably ask for a pic but since our infant seat isn't compatible, I have to move on, lol.

@kori+s I know how you feel as I  <3 my Peg perego book pop up. I wish I would've went with a stroller that could've been converted into a double... now that's really thinking ahead, but who knew? Lol
