@grapeskittles4lyfe - that sucks so bad. Hopefully it heals quickly! I tripped over my dog last night and didn't fall but the flailing it took to not fall gave me a contraction and made me sore today. I can't imagine how you feel!
Breastfeeding is selfish is probably the craziest thing I've ever heard.
We missed DS's sports class at the Y this morning because I locked my keys in my car. Luckily it is in the driveway so we could just go right back inside. But telling a 2.5yo it's time to go play at the gym and then 'just kidding' sucked. DH has my spare key on his keys at work.
I think that's how my MIL felt with DS! She didn't come out and use the word "selfish," but it was pretty clear. + she wanted sleepovers right away and breastfeeding wasn't conducive to that

My office is in a strip mall setting and we're right next to a grocery store. There is a picnic table in the little cove a few feet from our door where the grocery store employees take breaks (and smoke). Well, this year apparently the store decided to do a red kettle starting today. They didn't have one last year and I would think it would start next week at least. So anyway, the bell has been driving me nuts all morning and I have to deal with it for at least another month! And I swear the woman working it today has taken a smoke break every 30 minutes at the table and the smell comes through our door. Between the bell and the smoke smell I'm not very happy today.

Umm what?! That makes zero sense to me! If anything, breastfeeding is probably more selfless because from what I've heard it can be super tough! I hope they realize there are other ways to bond with a baby besides feeding...
@NiceyMeany How completely ridiculous of people! Obviously everyone has different levels of pain tolerance and labor goals. Women go med free all the time! My godsister totally did and was a rockstar. I think it just triggers some people's weird insecurity or defensiveness and that's why many of them judge. I've also found health professionals who work in L&D judge because they don't want to be bothered or have extra work managing women's labor pains. If you can give birth pain med free, awesome! If you change mind, awesome because really there are options to make you more comfortable. All judgey/think they know it all folks can suck it.
I will probably pump once in a while for DD. She LOVES giving her baby cousin his bottles and asks the second she sees him. So I may do it (very infrequently) for her. But for a grown ass adult who wants to bond with the baby? Umm no. I get to bond with her because I'm her mother!!
I am appalled by the comments some of you guys are getting! Particularly @yogadevil, of course. And to @NiceyMeany and others, your choice of pain medicine for a major medical procedure is nobody's business but yours. I haven't gotten too much judgement about CD or unmedicated birth, probably because everyone just assumes the crunchiness from me. The name pressure is killing me though. MIL will not shut up about how I should "really honor my father" by using his name as the MN. Which I actually was considering until she drove me too crazy about it. Nobody seems to believe us that we're keeping it a secret, either.

THIS. You know what else bonds you to baby? Reading to it, changing diapers, holding it. Feeding isn't the only way to make a bond!
My FIL has been the only one to question our decisions re: natural birth and CDs. He keeps saying "well we'll see" in a smug tone and then tells us that cloth diapers cause rashes... um... nope. Fortunately, H talked to him and quieted his ass down.
H and my mom are both hugely supportive of those choices and I'm really confident.
For PPs, there are a lot of reasons to go natural but it should not be your job to educate those folks. I highly recommend the "this is what works best for our family" or "we've researched our options and feel very confident in our choices" lines for nay-sayers. Keep your head up!
I just bribed my dogs with pig ears because I couldn't deal with letting them outside just to wipe their feet off again (they are super hyper today... probably because I'm home by myself).
I was just linked to a page that was talking about commonly mispronounced baby brands. I definitely have always pronounced Chicco, Aden + anais, and Medela wrong. For B.O.B do you guys call them bobs or say each letter? I wonder what else I'm pronouncing wrong lol
@Patience7150 I got some really nasty responses about not revealing our baby's name at the Baby Shower this weekend too. I told people we were announcing when he's born and haven't told family or anyone yet and they were still nasty about it. When I gave them our list of 10+ names that we were thinking of 4 months ago, they rejected every single option. If you just announce when the baby is born, nobody is going to care. Right now it's just listening to the peanut gallery's opinions which frankly IDGAF about!

Here's something random! This just came in the mail today. I've always wanted one of these kit-kat clocks because I'm basically still a child at 34. This one's 1960s vintage and creepy as hell when its eyes are moving. Isn't it awful?? I'm in love with it. Planning to "give" it to my son for Christmas because he'll adore it and it's one thing for him to open that's not a horrid toy I'll stub my toe on at 3am... but, yeah, it's actually mine. This ugly shit is staying with me until I DIE.
