I love reading all your updates. You are all so inspiring
@sarahbobby being a CrossFit'r myself, your story made me giggle. Not only do we have the usual "WoD Brain" to deal with, but now we also have "Preggo Brain" mixed in. Makes for an interesting workout at times!!
Great job @bradleerick for getting those miles in, regardless of the total distance. You are doing great and look amazing. I love your hump day bump day pic!
And I agree with everyone that I'm starting to feel the need to drop the intensity more than I've ever been used to. I'm trying to alternate high intensity with low intensity so I'm giving my body (and mind) rest. For example, on Monday I did high intensity cardio followed by CrossFit, Tuesday I just did 30min on the Elliptical, and then yesterday CrossFit followed by medium intensity Cardio. I had planned to hit the gym this morning, but my parents landed in LAX at 9pm last night and we didn't get home until almost 11pm. I had everything laid out and ready to go for the gym today, and set that alarm for 5am, but unfortunately my body was not having it. Oh well. I still got tomorrow and the weekend, right ?
Have a super duper day Everyone!!! XO
OH and PS.. I've scheduled my first pregnancy massage next week... which I'm now realizing as I type this I need to reschedule... I scheduled it for Wednesday at 330pm, but we just found out last night that my stepson's Mom made all day Thanksgiving plans with him so he won't be able to split the holiday as we had previously discussed. Instead, we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving Eve on Wednesday... which means I'll need to cancel my massage. (Glad this topic was brought up! I would've totally forgotten to change that appointment!)
@triwellnessgirl and @sarabobby enjoy the massages! So my yoga class tonight was AWESOME!!! It was really active, loads of squats. I was able to increase my wall squat by 30 seconds just by using the deep breathing and meditative techniques. I was so proud of myself!!!
@npaulie Definitely how I describe it to ppl that get the reference! ((Some friends don't workout at all and think I'm weird)) It felt like a mind game the same as running/training is--when you know body is fully capable of doing the task at hand, but your brain tries so hard to give you every excuse for why you can't continue.
so--yes! it's great to stay active and strong to help your body be able to deliver and recover! The added muscle tone and definitely the stamina help immensely! A pregnant woman who can barely walk around the block isn't gonna handle 8hrs of labor compared to us But i think its also just a really great tool as an athelete mentally to know what it's like to have practiced pushing your body and mind to the limits! EEE! Call me crazy-but I'm really looking forward to labor and delivery!! Haha.
These posts were such a great thing to read right now! I saw a neighbor earlier who had a c-section last year, and she was asking if I was still running since I run past her house and I guess she hadn't noticed me running lately. I said I was, that I was feeling good so I figured I would keep it up as long as I could. She was saying she knew exercise was supposed to help you in labor, but she said to keep in mind that "older women don't dilate, so you should prepare for a c-section!" She was 42 when she had her son, I'm 39 right now so I guess not that far off, but what a downer! Was she trying to make me feel like my exercise was all for nothing? Who knows what will happen, but her comment really got to me! I had a great crossfit workout tonight though, rounds of rowing, farmer carry and sit-ups (I did hanging knee raises from the bar). Feel much better after sweating it out!
@jenny0228 oh lord :eye roll: the things people think to say to pregnant women. You can absolutely trust that your body is going to know what it needs to do!! And way to go on the great crossfit sweat tonight!
@jenny0228 how rude of her to say that! I don't understand how people that make comments like that think it's ok...
Got my 4th workout of the week in this afternoon with a nice 5k run through the park with my dog - surprisingly at a rate I'd be happy with even pre-pregnancy! After my scare this morning at my dr appt I made sure to check with him when he called me after to confirm running/staying active was still ok and he said absolutely, as long as I feel I'm not over-doing anything it won't affect my cervix length...so that was a relief! Planning to do a Barre3 routine tomorrow morning & then be done working out for the week!
@serenity13 So glad to hear that your dr gave you good news and that you have the ok to keep working out!
I have managed to get in 3 work outs this week and am planning on getting my 4th in this Saturday! My last two weeks have been very lazy so I'm feeling much better this week after getting my workouts in!
@serenity13 I was wondering if doc would okay workouts for you! I'm SO glad that he assured you it wouldn't cause extra issues AND that you are listening to him! I know for me during my last pregnancy when I had some potential issues, the best thing was a good workout to distract a wandering anxious mind! Thinking of you today.
@jenny0228 safe travels today! Hope you have a blast in Maine
Got you Friday sweat sesh. ANd, Guys! My workout chart is super motivating. I feel like a little kid with a chore chart that does the work just so I can go check off a box. ((This is my min goal for how many I want to get in by 38wk "full term" mark!)) Loving watching it fill up!
Hi ladies! New here this pregnancy... my first pregnancy I worked out 4 times a week the entire time and felt fabulous. This time around, I've been a complete slacker. Felt way more exhausted in 1st tri, plus working full time, with a one year old isn't easy so I just had my first workout this week (at 21 weeks. Yikes!!!!!). Hoping to stay motivated for the second half of pregnancy and work out at least 3x /wk. cardio, strength (think Jillian Michaels type circuit training), and barre are my go-tos. Hope to show up here more often!! Thanks for the motivation!!
@dirtymartini welcome! First tri was definitely rough--I know most of us didn't do much either! And I feel ya on the toddler front, it's a battle. But late is better than never! Hope our little group can help you be motivated to reach your goals--I know it has helped me a ton!
@kjd291 I'm in!!!! What do you think of trying them all out over 90 days? First 30 days could be the squat challenge, next 30 the push up one, final 30 the wall sit challenge...?
ETA: or as long as it's possible for us to continue depending on when our little ones make their debuts!
@serenity13 I'm definitely on board with doing all of them! I was kinda thinking along those lines too. Figured we'd get the ball rolling with one and see if everyone wanted to join in. There are more intense ones I found I'd love to do post baby with ya'll too!! Especially core stuff for our post baby bellies
im also about to post this in the Friday confession thread... BUT... was going to go to the gym today. Ended up having to run errands all over town which meant walking since we sold our car. I walked 12K steps by 1pm... so I'm counting that as my workout today. Haha
Unless anyone else cares which one we start with: I'm gonna say push-up challenge starting Monday! Thinking they'll be the best to get out of the way, since my stomach is already starting to touch the ground when I lower all the way down. Hahah. Push ups on toes and switch when you need to/or all knees! Whatever works for you!
I feel like my belly expanded so much over the last day or two, can only imagine how much bigger it'll be even a month from now lol good call @kjd291 with starting with push-ups first! Looking forward to adding this into my workout plans!
Love this idea for the challenges @kjd291, I'm in! And the post-baby core workouts, too!!
Just got back from our long weekend in Portland Maine - it was SO GREAT...DH and I had such a great time visiting all our favorite spots, having some amazing meals, and walking around a TON! I didn't end up fitting in a run, sleeping in the hotel bed was just too good! But we did walk all day for two straight days so just like you @npaulie I'm counting it as a workout!
I managed to eat pretty well with a few treats sprinkled in.... AND I surprised myself by encouraging DH to go to his favorite local beer breweries to do a tasting even though I wasn't able to join, I still went with him and we still had fun. (I did have two sips of wine at dinner though, and it was AMAZING haha) I just had a great time spending an uninterrupted weekend with him, and although we realized that this was our last trip together before baby arrives, we talked a lot about names and how excited we are. And FINALLY DH felt our little guy kick this weekend! All in all I'm ending the week on a high note and excited to get into the holidays next week and start these strength challenges with you all! Happy Sunday!
@jenny0228 -YAY! Thanks for the update! I was thinking of you as yesterday was so beautiful up here! So so glad you had a wonderful time making memories with DH and baby! And good for you for enjoying the hotel bed and sleep instead of runs

I find myself already so looking forward to our birth stories and hearing how much our current fitness work will pay off and help!

Anyone interested in joining me in one of these 30day challenges to add to our workout routines? Starting Monday. Which one would you all like to do?
