daycare mom's- nap question

How does your daycare handle naps?  Do they just put them down when they are tired or let them fall asleep wherever they are?  How long did it take for your dc to get used to taking naps somewhere new?

I was home with DD for 16 weeks.  We had a great nap schedule- every 1.5 to 2 hours she would nap for about an hour.  She is only sleeping 25-30 minutes two times a day at daycare (we are only on day 3).  Will it get better?  They wait for her to get sleepy and then put her down in the crib. They don't follow my schedule at all.

TIA!

Re: daycare mom's- nap question

  • My DD doesn't follow a schedule at home, so that 'helps' a little since there is no schedule for daycare to follow. Her provider puts her down when she is tired, no schedule...as far as I know anyway. Does your provider give you little notes at the end of the day about your LO's day? You might be able to notice a pattern then. Also I think there is so much stimulation at daycare that the itty bittys aren't used to that it does one of two things, either keeps them totally wired, or totally zonks them. I think your LO will adjust as she gets used to everything.?

  • Yeah, I am trying not to micro-manage since I know it will take time for her to get used to it all.

They do give me a report at the end of the day which is why I know her naps have been crappy.  I just feel bad because from the second she hits the car seat she has been falling asleep and staying asleep for a good 2 hours.

  • DS has been in DC since 8 wks, his naps are very on and off there.  He has some good days and others where he'll only take 1 nap, so no, ours hasn't gotten used to it.  I think the stimulation keeps him up, plus DCP feeds him a ton which I think also keeps him up.  I don't complain though because he always sleeps well at night ;)

  • Mine still takes crappy naps at daycare.  It's been 3 months.  We're actually switching to an in-home daycare soon and I'm hoping she'll have fewer distractions there.  I'm sick of not having time for anything w/DD at night.  She eats and goes straight to bed.
