@Wino0920 I had to sign off on a bunch of paperwork acknowledging my risks and the odds of contracting every disease under the sun (e.g., HIV, Hep B, Hep C). Although not likely, I just don't want to roll the dice again... it's been 3 years and I have regular testing done to verify I didn't contract anything (that first year was nerve-racking)... I know blood donations are put through a very thourough screening process but I still don't want to take a chance if I don't have to...
Ok ladies need a recommendation. I need a new monitor bc our motorola video monitor sucked so bad it may or may not have broken in several pieces from being thrown. I am looking for a dual camera with video and sound. One camera for toddler room, one for new babys room. It doesnt need to be wifi capable. I specifically do not want it to have heart rate/breathing monitors bc that stuff stresses me out more than calms me down. I dont want to spend more than $200 but I want something that will last. i didnt like the motorola bc it would randomly beep in the night for no reason and the video feed would freeze. Any reccomendations are greatly appreciated.
We use the izon cameras. They work off an app on your phone or tablet. We also wanted something that wasn't specifically a baby monitor due to all those shitty stories of people hacking them and scaring the kids. They're as secure as your wifi. We bought them off Amazon and love them. If you want 2-way sound you can just get a cheapy sound monitor to go with.
A new issue came up in our house yesterday and I am just beside myself, but really trying not to stress the Mr about it.
I hate my Mr's work situation. He works from home and it makes him miserable. He gets all stir crazy from not being around people and not leaving the house. Plus, I'm not super keen on the job itself. He worked for this employer 2x before. I voiced my extreme displeasure when he took the job this most recent time because last time we got screwed when he got let go.
Yesterday the boss tells the Mr that he can pay him for Dec 1st as his last check. Here we go, getting screwed again! Going into the holidays, pregnant, and the Mr is gonna lose his damn job. AND having to deal with sad-sack husband.
The Mr is so hesitant to try something outside this field he's been working in but this makes like 10 jobs in the last 7 years. I cannot take the instability anymore!!!
Somebody talk me off the ledge. A college-educated person living in a city of 2 million people should be able to find work, right?? UGH!! Pregnancy hormones are making me all ragey over this, too.
@silliegirlie143 I'm sorry. That sounds incredibly stressful. What field is he in? My DH hated what he was doing before and went back to get his masters in what he actually wanted to do. We lived in CA and no one would give him a chance even though he had years of professional experience and a masters degree in the new field, so we ended up moving to a city with a thriving job market and his career has been pushed into overdrive. I know moving isn't the solution for your situation, but my point being I understand the frustration you have when you see a hard working educated person living in a huge city being unable to find a great job that they deserve. Hoping that he will find something quickly to take the stress off of your family. That employer also really couldn't have picked a worse time of year. Ugh.
@michaela0704 totally understand. It has to be very nerve racking. I guess the best way I would look at it, what would happen if I didn't receive the transplant? What has the biggest risk? Transfusions have a very low low risk, but what's the risk if you didn't have it? Good luck with everything!
My kids suck at bedtime again. I don't know how it happened because they use to be awesome at it. After our vacation we are hitting bedtime boot camp hard. I need my sleep now before the new one comes along.
@FSUNole31 Do not get me started on bed time. My DD has ALWAYS sucked at it. She's 4 now, and I don't think there has ever been a night in her life where she has not completely lost it over having to go to bed. We have tried absolutely everything over the years and she just can't even when it comes to sleep.
I live in general fear for what bed time is going to be like when this baby is born. Maybe he/she will be the tactic we've been missing.
@MKRLTX Thanks for the solidarity! He's a graphic designer who mostly does clothing design. We lived in LA before and there was always work. That's just not the industry here.
When we we moved here the plan was to do something else. He hasn't been trying to find something else, he's been trying to find graphics work.
insanity, I tell you... Doing the same thing, expecting different results and all.
@LMMama my son is our biggest issue right now. He turned four in August, but it all started when we finally took away his pacifier back in May (I know he was pretty old for one haha). Ever since he has to start in our bed first and now he always wants me to lay with him. We tried closing the gate on his door but he can climb it now and it is one of those tall metal ones with vertical bars so it is no easy feat. Now we are afraid he will take a header over the gate. My daughter is just sucking because monkey see monkey do. I hope bedtime gets better for us both soon!

We've been through like 5 different video monitors since having DD1. What we've learned is that they all suck. (The first one breaking was 100% DH's fault, but the other 4 have actually sucked.)
So far, our Motorola was- by far- the worst out of all of them. Like, so bad I fought with the company for a full refund after having them replace broken pieces four times in 9 months. It also had the worst range out of all of the monitors we've had. It wouldn't work anywhere in the backyard. It was a total piece of shit.
We currently have a Lorex. We've had it for two years, which means it's lasted the longest out of all of the monitors we've owned. We spent under $100 on it when we purchased it. The camera doesn't pan, which I miss, but we can talk to DD2 through it, which was a requirement. We can check the temperature of her room, which is something that we didn't expect to use regularly. The handheld portion turns off to save battery power, and turns back on when there's sound, and you can set the sensitivity level.
@JessyKV My husband and I had this conversation last night!!!! We have decided that we are going to have someone come in at least once a month to do a deep clean. I want my house as clean as possible for when the baby comes. I told him I wounder what my parents will say (i think they will laugh at me) and he said just say you want it for Christmas!! I am looking forward to less cleaning
I'm a bit jealous of the ladies who have the pregnancy "glow." My skin that is normally combination has just been incredibly dry, itchy and peeling lately. This isn't that completely abnormal for me once it's January or February and it's cold enough that the heat is running nonstop in the house. But it's still fall and pretty nice whether here. I shouldn't be having this many issues with dry skin already.
@LMMama About the tilted uterus: I have a retroverted uterus which is a variation of a tilted uterus. I'm 11 weeks today and I've already been having lower back pain for a couple of days. I've had it on and off for over a week now but the last couple of days it's been waking me up at night and such. I'm not sure if it's related to having a tilted uterus but I've read on-line that a lot of ladies with a tilted uterus have back pain earlier on in pregnancy. The good news is that most of the time the uterus will move into the "correct" position by around 12 weeks. So hopefully you'll start to feel better in a bit.
@doodleoodle I wish I had a pregnancy pillow to get out. I 100% would have. I've been waking up every single morning with back pain. Not to mention it's waking me up several times a night every night now. And sleeping on my stomach is just uncomfortable. I know it's too early for my uterus to have moved above my pelvic bone and all but I swear it feels like I'm sleeping on something hard in my lower abdomen/pelvis when I'm on my stomach now. Once I finish my research on a good pregnancy pillow for back pain I'm absolutely buying one. I don't even care if it's "too early."

@NamelessAria I'm sorry that you're struggling with back pain so early on! I've heard that is common with a tilted uterus. The only pregnancy pilllw I've ever tried was my Snoogle, but I absolutely love it. When I was in my 3rd trimester and my back was killing me I drug the Snoogle around the house and was never without it. It's a bit pricey, but I found it a little cheaper at Babies R Us than elsewhere. I hope you're able to get some relief!
I had a dream that my best friend died on Thursday night, and I woke up in literal tears. It really freaked me out! Has that ever happened to anyone - where you wake up in tears? I was shaken all morning yesterday.

Someone is going to announce their pregnancy. Old wives tales say that when you dream of death, a pregnancy will be revealed.
Its silly, but it has come true for me so many times.

Maybe I'm getting ready to hear about two then!! I dreamt that the Mr and my Dad passed away. I knew it was pregnancy hormones because I woke pissed that I now had 2 kids and FOUR dogs to care for (our 2 and Dad's 2)...
Priorities! At least it made me giggle a lil since it was SO ridiculous
