I would ask for a full fertility blood panel.  And if your insurance is good/ you have the money to spare I would ask to get an ultrasound done during your fertile week.  If all of that comes back normal than maybe it's all fine - but if you really are spotting all month long that would be truly surprising to me.  If anything looks weird then get a referral to the RE.  Don't accept treatment from the OB.
I don't usually spot all month long but that last 15 day cycle was constant spotting to some degree.  I do, however, tend to spot at least a little for about a week before AF starts.  I started to worry about it after the second cycle tracking CM.  I know my insurance doesn't cover infertility in general (big surprise, I know) but I'm not sure what tests it will cover.  And when I try to find something on the company's website to see if it will be covered, I have difficulty locating the information I'm looking for.  I'm really hoping to get some answers on Thursday either way.

@lulu1180, not to butt into your conversation, but on the back of your insurance ID card there is a support line- you can call that line and specifically ask which tests are covered. I know it's a pain in the ass to spend some time on the phone with insurance companies, but they will be able to tell you a plain yes or no what is covered under your specific policy and what is not.

They can also give you a list of in-network RE's and OBGYN's if you need that information as well. I work in insurance and wanted to pass that along in case you weren't aware.

  • @lulu1180 that's a great idea :) I am always amazed at how difficult the companies make it to find out what you need to know with your benefits, but every company is required to list a customer support number on those ID cards- ask them anything your OB suggests, and keep them on the line as long as you need.

They can also give you or start your prior authorization if you need it for any specific tests or procedures. Hopefully you won't need any of it but just in case its good to know :)

    FX for you!

  • @RunRestRepeat I stop taking them after I get my first negative. I asked the other day and people responded that they still HIO on their first negative, which would probably be a +1.

  • @bumpybump I feel you on the post AF spotting. Weirdest thing just happened to me. Finished AF 2 days ago, went to the bathroom this morning, and a big *TMI* clot fell out of me, along with a lot of dark blood.  Hoping it was just a leftover from AF. I'm spotting red now when I wipe, and wondering if I actually need a tampon  :/  This has never happened to me before.
  • @RunRestRepeat I stop OPKs after the first negative but I have really regular cycles and don't really worry about gearing up and not Oing (which may or may not come back to bite me)
  • @swimsister I'm totes jelly of your no strings attached concert!!

Thanks to all of you lovely ladies. This day truly is trying for me (and work issues coupled with AF is just cruel) but I absolutely feel the love from you all!

@antoto would you mind sharing what your gyn said your issue was (if you're comfortable doing so!) I'm not sure I know.

@lulu1180 girl I'm sorry you are dealing with all of that! I have an appointment with my gyn in a week or so and need to discuss my spotting issues. I'm thinking it's a progesterone issue but who knows.

  • @BertieMeetsGertie I have non insulin resistant PCOS.  The midwives picked up on it when I went in for my more -than-usual spotting and they did CD3 bloodwork and an ultrasound. Bloodwork showed high testosterone and my ultrasound showed 15+ cysts in each ovary and no mature follicles despite my positive LH tests and my biphasic BBT charts.  They referred me to the RE who did a repeat of all the tests (with some extra thrown in there) and he confirmed the diagnosis.
  • @antoto I'm so sorry that you are dealing with that, but I'm glad that you were referred to the right place and are getting the treatment that you need.  <3

    CD: 13

WAYDTGKU: pnv, opk, charting temps and cm, b complex, day 3 and 7dpo testing for short LP

R/R: I feel really stressed this cycle and it's making me want exactly zero to do with sex. I need to get it together before I get a +OPK. I'm not a fake it 'til you make it kind of girl.

CS/Q: Nah, my temps are pretty flat before O.

GTKY?: What was the best concert you ever attended? Britney Spears. I've never felt older, but man it was fun.

  • @hqinmd I haven't read the comics either but DH loves reading them so I get to listen to his rants about them now and then. Thankfully as MH loves Star Wars, I won't have any issues getting him to go see Rogue One. But if I were in your shoes, I'd probably pick Rogue One as well. It looks like it'll be really good to see in theaters.
  • @BertieMeetsGertie so sorry for the CD1. I was really hoping for you

@adirat did you ever hear from your doctor?

@lulu1180 if your GYN needs to do tests and insurance wont cover it, if you talk to your GYN about how insurance wont pay for certain things but will for others, they often will try to work with you by manipulating the billing system so it looks like its for issues as opposed to fertility stuff

@travelingcouple Sorry to hear, but good for you being so proactive!

  • @sheknows6 It was such an amazing performance - I'd love to see him again!
@juneroseruby and @hqinmd Thanks! That's what I thought, but it's my first time using opks so I wanted to be sure. I'll probably HIO today just in case (thinking today is 1DPO).

  • Sorry for postin and ghosting so busy at work today. Be back later for comments!!

    Month/Cycle: 10/10

    CD: 3

WAYDTGKU: waiting for AF to go

R/R:  irritated about work related things keeping me busy and late on a Friday!! Better get out of here on time it's been a long week!

    CS/Q: none

GTKY?: What was the best concert you ever attended?
Dave Matthews!! I try to see him every year!
  • So I took a quick peruse through the thread and see all this great input for @lulu1180 I agree with what's been said and I would keep HIO in the meantime just in case!

@antoto so that is something your doc caught when you made an appointment for spotting? I was wondering about the IUI based on month/cycle trying but I didn't know much about your background/history. I noticed the feedback you gave to @lulu1180 and I also have really light periods. I would say I have 2 days of using a tampon even though it's on the border of spotting  and then one spotting day and that's pretty much it. I've never talked to my doc about it but now have been thinking about it more as of lately. My LP is usually between 11-14 days which is good but didn't know if light periods were a concern.
  • @beachbunnyxo123 I don't think just light periods are necessarily a cause for concern.  It's concerning when you bleed for two straight weeks out of your cycle.  I mentioned lulu's one day period only because it's in conjunction with a lot of other strange things.  I think a 2-3 day period is probably totally normal for lots of women.  I don't think I would go in for testing if that were the only thing going on.
  • @TravelingCouple sorry your doctor doesn't trust your data. That would piss me off.
@darkrose88 I'm so excited for Rogue One I can't even.
@nikkiandchris I may have danced in the back of the theater at the end of Crossroads...
