I can't help feeling jealous of you ladies (esp you @triwellnessgirl!!!) on the weight gain lol... I've been getting much better at cutting back on the junk food lately but I still feel like my 19/20 lb weight gain in 18.5 weeks is way more than I should be at. I may have been a little underweight prepregnancy though, but it's definitely hard for me not to feel guilty like maybe I've allowed myself to indulge more than is healthy... I don't/can't track calories because I used to before when I'd restrict my eating & it took years to break the habit & get in a healthy mindset regarding food...if I were to guess though I probably eat 2500 cal/day - and probably did 2000-2500 pre-pregnancy. My body just tells me when I'm hungry & I obey lol maybe sometimes I shouldn't now though, idk...
Great job to all of you! I'm so impressed by you ladies who are still able to run! I miss running so much & really want to get back into it again soon!
Hope you ladies with colds are starting to feel better! So many people I work with have been sick lately - I've been trying to keep my distance from them but feel like I might be next lol
@serenity13 as always with weight :much easier said than done--but do not compare yourself!! youre doing a great job listening to your hunger cues and when you indulge a little-heck you deserve it! You're working hard, hormonal pregnancy and food is no easy path. You have plenty of time to be tougher on yourself once this baby arrives and you get back to your usual self. Triwellness is not average for weight gain--she's definitely on the lower end of the spectrum. You're doing fine where you are!! You may also stop gaining as fast near the end while some of the slower gainers now pile on the weight.
So all in all: the cheesy answer-all bodies and pregnancies are different! Show yourself grace and love! ps. I KNOW. I am green with envy for the running updates. I can't wait to get back out for a run next spring.
The weight gain is tough for sure. But you all look AMAZING!! Seriously! I was just catching up on the HDBD thread and everyone is looking like strong, fit pregnant ladies! I missed posting a pic this week. I suddenly gained 3 more lbs over the last week and a half somehow? Oh well. I'm trying not to get too hung up on it. We are all doing a great job staying active and doing what we can do, so getting back to it post-baby is going to be SO much easier for us! I keep telling myself that when I get discouraged that I'm running too slow, or lifting too light. At least we are committed to keeping it up!
Also - have you heard of an ice cream brand called Halo Top? They sell it at Whole Foods, and it's high protein, low calorie, low sugar ice cream that tastes amazing! It doesn't have a lot of artificial crap in it, either. I had a tiny bit of the mint chip last night. Even DH liked it! I am still craving sweets but last night I was also craving kale salad (??) I made a salad of kale, fennel, golden beets, and pomegranate seeds with an orange vinaigrette dressing with some (pasteurized) goat cheese on top. SO GOOD.
@kjd291 very well put - and honestly a good reminder for me too! I have quite a bit of weight left from DS but I feel SO much better this pregnancy. With the large SCH last go round I was not able to do ANYTHING for quite a while. So even though I have hardly gained anything with this pregnancy thus far I know its a combination of having some DS weight as well as getting back into a good physical routine. Goodness though Im not gonna lie I can NOT WAIT to go balls to the wall next summer! HAHA
jenny0228 Im gonna have to try that ice cream! My family was in town last night. DH took the nieces to get ice cream. Well they each got their own half gallon!! And each only ate a cups worth of their ice cream. So we now have 4 half gallons of various ice creams in the house. I wasnt MAD but I hate to have that in the house - he should have just taken them to dairy queen/ cold stone or something!
I have been on a zoodle kick. Last night was ground turkey spinach and tomato sauce with LOTS of fresh basil over zoodles with a salad. After traveling for a wedding and there only being super heavy options then a hotel breakfast it was SO satisfying! Tonight will be Thai Zoodle Soup! :-)
@vino831 AGH I wish I could get my husband to eat zoodles. I'm too lazy to make us separate dinners.
On on the weight gain topic. Don't worry about it too much. I've gained at least 15 pounds already (haven't weighed myself the last two weeks, and decided to stop weighing myself altogether. As long as I'm making an effort to eat MOSTLY healthy and I'm remaining active I'm not going to be too hard on myself.
On that note, I made it to the gym for the first time in over a week today!! So glad this head cold is finally gone and I can breathe!!!
I will admit I am not looking forward to being weighed at the midwifes office tomorrow last time I was in there she looked at me and said... "are you sure it's possible you gained this much in a month...?" With all the junk I've been indulging in this weekend with family visiting I'm pretty sure I'll get a similar lecture tomorrow. Ugh.
@kjd291 I can't believe they said that!! Here they don't weigh me at any of my appointments. Which surprised me at first, but now I'm glad they don't.
I know! It's just annoying that each provider is so different! With my last I gained much more at this point, and I kept bringing it up and they didn't care one bit! This time it seems more of an issue even though it's less gain and I started out pregnancy ten pounds lighter! So all in all: just glad I'm having the weight comments this time around instead of last time--as a FTM I would have been devastated! Glad your office is cutting this part out completely!! It does seem a bit unnecessary to me.
