    @WombThereItIs I KNEW there was another military spouse on here but I couldn't remember who so thank you for chiming in! That was super helpful! I had the in-processing appointment with the nurse and got the "purple book" lol and I read up on the genetic testing but I was hoping it would be more like "this is what is covered, this is not". I declined all testing with my previous two as well so it's not a big deal if it wasn't covered (and this is Tricare so I figured it wasn't lol). Thanks for your help!!

    @bacorrea At least you get to PCS! Hopefully it's somewhere with a nice MTF!

    @Kipperoo - Congrats on a healthy girl!

    Apparently my doctor has changed their policy on the Panorama test since I had it done last year. Now, since I'm under 35, I would have to have a consultation with a genetic counsel before having the test done to explain what it is testing for. I think this is ridiculous. If something came back high risk, then I would definitely want to learn more about that abnormality, but I don't need to learn all of the possibilities beforehand! I think we're going to stick with the nuchal translucency ultrasound in a few weeks.
    When we met with the mid wife at my OBs office I told her my husbands sisters had a pregnancy test positive for trisomy 18. Which was true. She then said that I formation will most likely get the test covered. Walking out I thought to myself there is no way they can confirm that I formation so how do they know I wasn't lying?  I guess they don't. Food for thought when you meet with the genetic counselor.
  • @bacorrea Bummer. I heard they are getting a big new fancy hospital but it is a couple of years out. WBAMC does have a few residencies there already though so it's not too shabby.

    I think PCS orders are coming down the line for this summer for my husband too we just have no idea where. Mystery move with a newborn? Go Army!

  • @bacorrea Suprisingly, I would LOVE to go to Bliss. But only because it's within a days drive home! I've heard good and bad things about Bliss. I've heard that the base itself is pretty much it's own town and you could never leave it has so much on it!

    @WombThereItIs Doesn't everyone love moving with a newborn?! We actually did a PCS when DD2 was 6 weeks old, not as bad as I thought it would be!

    We are at JBLM in Washington now, we've only been here about 10 months, so we have probably another 2 years here, blah.

  • I'll be getting the first trimester screen thing with u/s and the 20w anatomy scan and an nipt. If, g-d forbid anything came up questionable I'd do an amnio. I'm 35 and have two babes already and definitely want to know what I'm getting into for #3!

  • So, the NIPT and the NT test are different? I'm doing the NT test on the 14th of November and I was hoping to find out the sex, but I don't think that's possible given what I'm hearing. I'll be 13 weeks by then.

    Yes they are different. The NIPT is blood work only. This can be done at 10 weeks. The NT is done around 12 weeks and is a scan to measure the back of the neck and also has its own bloodwork. Sex can be found in the NIPT bloodwork.

  • Oh, I guess I'll wait until week 20. thanks @mamatowildones
  • We are declining and did with my DD too. We wouldn't change anything if we found something out. If there's an abnormality at the anatomy scan, we're comfortable with further testing then. We want time to prepare if something is wrong, but feel like 20 weeks gives us enough time to prepare if needed.
