For those of you who were successful with IVF with DOR/low AMH, do you mind sharing what protocol you were successful on and which ones you were not?

My 1st round was Lupron, followed by super high dose Gonal F and Menopur and we had 8 eggs retrieved, 5 mature & fertilized, 3 alive on day 3 and all arrested before day 5. We are probably switching REs/clinics after meeting with another RE on Thursday for a second opinion and will start round 2 in December/January. Thanks in advance!

I've been lurking for a long time and following your stories. I've also been debating whether I should share my story but I figured that I always loved reading stories that gave me hope - And maybe it would give someone else hope. I was also diagnosed with low AMH, and after 4 medicated cycles (2 IUIs) last year, I was told that IVF was my only chance. I decided to take a break - I was finishing grad school and recovering from the death of my brother and a brush with kidney cancer. Anyway, we planned on doing IVF in South Africa next year - world class treatment at a fraction of the cost (and my family lives there). In the meantime, we kept trying naturally. I didn't temp, but used ovulation tests. I usually ovulate on day 16/17 and I always waited until a positive ovulation test to try. I was leaving for a solo visit to South Africa early on day 13 of my cycle so we tried the day before. I really had zero hopes of anything happening. I spent the next 2 weeks enjoying my trip, and realized I was late when I got back. I took a test and it was negative. Two days later I took another test and it was a BFP - my first ever! I was shocked - day 12 was August 4th and I got my BFP on August 24th. I pretty much didn't think the pregnancy would make it...or I was too scared to be hopeful. I am now 12 weeks 3 days pregnant with a baby girl (received Harmony test results yesterday) and it's finally feeling real. So, basically, never say never. As a bonus, my daughter is due on what would have been my brother's 27th birthday. Crossing fingers for lots of BFPs coming up.

@20T I wish I could tell u successful protocol it I'm still TTC. However I did the same protocol and you had a much better response then I did. I only got one good one in the end and had to revert to an iui. Did they have a reason as to what might have happened that none made it.
What does the new RE what to try. I had a better response with centritide instead of the lupron.

ladies ive been mia but i cant remember if i updated from my hsg/shg last friday all was great and i had my hystroscopy and mock transfer all was good i just continue my protocol im down to 10 units of lupron and started my estrogen patches

currently i'm in my 2ww so In the next few days i'm either going to be really excited...or bummed and headed back to the dr to see if my body is ready to start stemming again. I believe that I will be doing the antagonist protocol this round as well.

Hi ladies - I need to join this thread. I'm doing a Microdose Lupron protocol and it's been canceled because I only have 1 growing follie. I started with 8. Doing IUI now on Monday. I'm devastated. I want to keep going but now I have to convince my military doctor to allow me to do another round. I'm not sure what the protocol should be and the doctor said he did the highest dosages of everything and I didn't respond so I should use donor eggs. Really? I get one shot and I'm done? I just can't accept this. I'm a complete wreck.

My my AMH is now at a .3, but every month it fluctuates between .3 - 1.5

My AMH was 0.79 the first time I was tested and 0.31 after my first failed round of IVF in July. I was on Lupron, then Follistim 150iu and Menopur 300iu. I had 8 eggs retrieved, 5 mature & fertilized, 3 alive on day 3 and all arrested before day 5. At our follow up meeting with the RE he suggested donor eggs after round 2 also, which I thought was really insensitive timing. I bought the book It Starts With an Egg and have tried to make some lifestyle changes that will (hopefully) improve egg quality and we have just switched REs to a doctor who seems more willing to work with my eggs and doesn't seem as obsessed with his stats (which I think was the motivating factor behind the push to donor eggs). I really hope your IUI is successful on Monday!

@mandasand I'm so sorry your doctor is already suggesting donor eggs. In July I was diagnosed with an amh of .52. Since then I have had two egg retrievals... one unsuccessful transfer of two blasts and I am now waiting to have a frozen transfer of one PGS normal embryo. I was on the highest doses for the antagonist protocol both times. I already spoke with my RE about the next step in case this one doesn't implant, and he assured me there were other protocols we could try and donor eggs are a last resort that he isn't even considering yet. If I were you I would definitely get a 2nd opinion.

hi ladies question for all of you, what was your AFC when you started stemming?

I'm sad to say that AF is here and will be going for bw/us tomorrow. I'm just worried my AFC will be low and then we won't be able to start stemming. Just wondering even with low AMH how everyone did. My very first session with my dr last march already i was at 8 and 6 wish i was stemming that cycle as i probably would've had a decent round. Last check the side that had 8 was showing 4 so it just makes you wonder what it could mean. Just wondering if i should still do a cycle if i'm starting at low to begin with. I'm just anxious i guess. Not jumping the gun just yet as i have to see what my body will say tomorrow...or in a few hours i should say ugh!!

@capps42613 thanks for thinking of me, today i would've tested but cramps started saturday and i just knew AF would be on her way so no need to waste the test. Its so frustrating i swear!! we did everything correctly and it just doesn't work. I'm just sad and find myself getting depressed already. i just can't shake it as much as i'm trying to talk myself out of it.

@kp214 i've been driving myself batty all night about it and i said if my body was ready then i would do it so i am. Its tough as my OH wanted to try another natural cycle, with maybe climid not all the shots...u know cause the 6months prior wasn't enough

@kp214 my original arc in march was 8 on the right and 6 on the left, why my dr thought i wasn't a true DOR and would respond better to the meds then i have. During my US this time i asked the technician what she saw as they usually don't count the AFC each time...odd i know. SO she said she saw 4 and 4...yes that would still be more then last time BUT i also feel like not each one produces a collie. So i just don't know. I didn't take as much menu par as they told me too so it will be interesting to see how i do tomorrow.

@Hopeful_mom that's still a good number. You may have more appear today. Good luck! EPP is estrogen priming protocol. It can help poor responders/DOR. I've read it can help with egg quality but that was all anecdotal, not a lot of studies have been published that support that or at least there are mixed reviews on that.

@kp214 I'm not trying to panic just yet

My estrogen only raised up 1 point in 2 days so just hoping my body needs to get into the groove of things. Just hoping sat will show them growing together and they don't disappear! I sit hear and say i'm going to acupuncture and really trying to do what i can....and then i think of all the snacking i did yesterday at work and that is not helping the cause! I've gained weight through this process which is frustrating in itself. How many days left of stems do u think u have before ER? Excited some more popped up for u!

@Hopeful_mom how did it go? I know the feeling, wanting them to all grow together. I've been thinking about that for the last couple of days, too. This is a stressful process. That leads to weight gain and then the meds can lead to weight gain. It's tough. I am waiting on b/w results to confirm that I will go back on Monday. I'd rather go on Sunday, just to be on the safe side. So, I'll probably be stimming for at least 5 more days.

I had retrieval today. I did EPP with lower dose stims. They retrieved 10 eggs, and all were mature! This is the best response I've ever had. Praying some make it to day 5 for biopsy, and some come back genetically normal.

Hi Ladies,
So to catch everyone up, up in my 3rd round of IVF still not making it to ER, had a lot to decide as this cycle i'm still not responding as i would have liked. My left side pooped out and gave me nothing to work with and my right side as developed 3 follies, at least thats what i'm hoping for. I was panicking this morning when then tech couldn't find my follies at all and had to go get the dr on call....he finally found the follies so at least i didn't know i ovulated whew!!!

My thought is, do the ER and pray all 3 are perfect. Now I feel like if I get 2 do i do the transfer, or bank another cycle.

If only 1 makes it then I know I would bank it, I kno for sure I want to transfer more then one.

my question to all is this??
I'm paying OOP so this could be all for nothing as I'm told I could get none. How is that possible if I'm measuring 3 mature. Would love some thoughts and feedback as I'm very confused what to do. OH thinks I'm rushing it cause I'm so anxious to retrieve something, which I am. My body showed the very first cycle I can produce more a big 4-5 haha, but full second cycle on other protocol was one. And now hear I am. Ugh this process!!

@Hopeful_mom I think that size is an indicator of maturity of the follicle but not a guarantee. Also, follicles may not all contain eggs. However, I think that's unlikely. Good luck! Try to just focus on taking care of yourself until er. Then, you will know more. You have done all that you can. Remember that.

@kp214 thanks for the info. Since I have so few I pray there quality!! I kno ur right, it's just a tough process and it's scary on top of being expensive! I wish money wasn't a factor it this too, it's all so much!! And to boot OH is away on business, so I might have to use a frozen sample ugh!!!

HI ladies, I finally did it, finally made it to an ER. Having mixed feeling but hoping for the best...at least i'm still in it today!!

I can't believe i made it through an ER, I was nervous going in and tried to stay calm as i could. I was scared i would come out with nothing. Happy to report I got 4, yay!! All from the right side what a trooper, I need to have a serious conversation with my left side

Now even though they got 4, she did say one seems a lil abnormal - I'm sure something everyone wants to hear NOT!! so with that said they are still going to try to fertilize it with regular natural insemination. Since one of the follies were on the smaller side I think thats why they want to do 2 natural and 2 icsi SO I'm still quite nervous. I'm glad its given me hope and something to work with. Like so many of you lovely ladies have told me, thats one hurdle done. I cried when they told me and continued to cry when she said everything looks normal and great. Its just that feeling ike maybe this really can work. I've been very concerned that my eggs aren't good lately so i think its just all of that coming together into one making me an emotional mess.

I couldn't wait for my report this AM and called them, one because i was having issues with my estrace and it didn't really get to where it needed to. I don't know i guess i was in a rush these morning, not sure why it doesn't come with an applicator. you would think I would have more issues with the shots, nope!

Anyhoo onto the important stuff, 3 out of the 4 fertilized whoo hoo!!!! I'm beyond ecstatic!!! The egg that seemed a lil abnormal did not fertilize which obviously is a good thing, its not meant to be. And they ended up doing icsi for all...at least i'm still in it! So seems like friday g-d willing is going to be the day. A lil nervous with a 3 day transfer but hoping i can finally get my miracle!!!

Have my Day 2 update, 4A, 4AB and 3BC, I"m still freaking out a bit just thrilled they're still all in the game. Day 2 is suppose to be a 4 cell right. The lab tech said i should be really happy with that. So Is it safe to assume that come tomorrow I should be a go right
