Dec FET - Frozen Holiday Miracles

edited October 2016 in Infertility
Hey all.. I know this is really early, and ppl might not know if they're cycling then, but is anyone going for a holiday miracle? I have 7 frosties waiting for me, I'm transferring either 2 or 3 with a full immune protocol. I'm on Depot Lupron right now, likely starting meds Nov 30 and transferring Dec 15... as we all know, schedules ALWAYS change, so here's hoping!

Anyone on a similar schedule?

Re: Dec FET - Frozen Holiday Miracles

  • I won't be starting my next cycle until sometime next year, but I hope it works out for you. That'd be the BEST Christmas gift ever.
  • Loading the player...
  • Wouldn't it @MMD1986 !?!? That being said... could also be a sad Christmas. Ugh. Hope someone else at least is risking it and doing a Dec transfer. Good luck to you next year! :)<3

  • We will be looking for AF in December for a January transfer! I have 5 frosty babies waiting! Best luck to us all!
  • How many are you thinking of transferring @Bharvey10 ? I have 7 frosties waiting, but we've transferred 2 each time and been unsuccessful, so I'm trying to decide if I up the ante to three... but that's a bit scary... I dunno.

  • We are leaning to just transferring 1 at a time. It is scary we you start doing more than 1. I hope this one works for you. This will also be our first FET.
  • Okay so I'm going crazy waiting... it's official... I'm a nut-bar, but basically I've been organizing all the things me and my RE have discussed (plus things we have not) and compiled a list. Here is my plan.

    RE discussed/recommended:
    • 2 intralipid infusions before transfer date
    • lovenox (not yet sure on dosage)
    • femara 2.5 mg once daily during first week of e2v shots (not sure what the e2v shots are but I'll ask haha... if any of you know please enlighten me)
    • intrauterine HCG wash about an hour before transfer - 250 units
    • metanx (for MTHFR) and general vitamins - daily multi, calc/mag, D
    • and finally obviously est/prog
Considering that hasn't been discussed yet:
    • baby aspirin
    • antihistimine (adding in for my allergies - claritin/benadryl)
    • vaginal viagra

    Going to do just because:
    • pineapple core
    • brazil nuts
    • promegranate juice

Any thoughts on this? Feedback? Ideas? It's a lot... and more involved than a regular FET since I've already had 3 unsuccessful transfers of 2 excellent quality embryos each time!

  • Hello,
i have a potential FET sometime in November. I was thinking about eating the pineapple core. I haven't heard about the Brazil nuts or pomegranate juice... other then they are healthy for you. I was also considering acupuncture.
  • @oxinfree thanks for starting this group early. I just found out we are set for Dec. 5 FET of 1.
I'm still recovering from OHSS from a September 26 ER. We'd planned on fresh transfer, but that didn't work out. After fertilizing 16 (14 with ICSI due to several male factors), we got 12 beautiful frosties.
We've been waiting 2 years so 7 weeks better fly by!
This is my first IVF so my protocol will be Bcp starting today until 11/11, AF, US maybe just to see ovary size, 11/116 Estrogen pills and gel.  11/30 lining check,  PIO start, 12/5 transfer. My clinic still insists on 3 days rest.

@oxinfree your protocol is intense, but I'd welcome changes and escalating my protocol too if unsuccessful.  I hadn't heard of a few things but I've only been around IVF since July.  I did do vitamin d since diagnosis,  coq10 since prepping eggs and DH took for sperm quality, pineapple core,  pomegranate juice after IUIs.

@holzie hope you get to join us,  too!
@Bharvey10 I'm scared to do more than one, too. Welcome!

I'm going to need something to occupy me for these next two months,  after a week off work sick with OHSS I couldn't be less interested in Netflix! Lol.

    Married: October 2014

    Me: 35 DH: 39

    TTC since November 2014

Diagnosis: Anovulation from PCOSish without syndrome, Male factors - low motility and morphology issues

Jan., Feb., March 2016 - Letrozole 7.5mg and TI with HCG trigger= BFN

    Sept 2016 - 12 non-PGS embryos frozen (5 5AAs)

    FET #1 Jan 16, 2017 - BFP!- MC at 6W5d

    FET #2 May 8, 2017 - BFP! EDD 1-24-2018

  • So I'm scheduled for FET 12/11-12/12. I start Lupron 11/23. Is Lupron expensive?

    TTC for 8 years.
Started in 2008 with timed intercourse, ovulation testing, no official monitoring.
OB-GYN recommended Clomid and timed intercourse, attempted for 6 straight months.
First surgery June 2009 (OB-GYN): diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and large hydrosalpinx on right tube.
Second surgery (July 2009, RE performed this): Right tube had to be removed, lots of adhesions removed.
Attempted "trying on our own" as per RE recommendations, unsuccessful 5-6 months.
HSG performed December 2009: left tube open.
February 2010: started Femara and timed intercourse, attempted 6 months, no BFPs.
Took a break for a while.
January 2011: started IUI process, ovaries never properly responded to medications, 6 failed attempts, never actually completed an IUI.
Took 2012-2014 off due to depression and frustration (side note: did complete grad school to become a nurse practitioner- great distraction).
2015: started seeing RE again, went through tons of testing and HSG, left tube now blocked, only option is IVF.
September 2015: Started first official IVF cycle, cancelled in October due to large cyst on left ovary.
October 2015: started on birth control for 2 months.
December 2015: attempted to start another IVF cycle, cysts on both ovaries on initial ultrasound, left was huge, cancelled to aspirated cyst.
January 2016: Cyst back, surgery for ex-lap, cyst and adhesions removed.
March 2016: Attempted second IVF cycle, estrogen way too high, cyst back, cancelled again.
April 2016: Third attempted IVF cycle, 7 eggs retrieved, 2 mature (but not great) embryos made to fresh transfer, neither implanted.
May-Sept 2016: Break to regain sanity.
Sept-Oct 2016: Attempted fourth IVF cycle, very successful, cyst still on left but we ignored. 7 mature "great looking" eggs retrieved, 4 mature embryos made it to day 5 transfer. Transfer aborted due to large amount of endometriosis fluid in uterus.
FET of 2 embryos completed on 12/12/16.
    12/22/16 1st Beta 179 BFP!!!
    12/24/16 2nd Beta 449!!

@BecauseLove - Awesome, hopefully all goes according to plan and you can sneak in your FET before the new year! :)

  • Hi! So I think we're on path for Dec transfer too!! I'm hopeful for a nice Christmas (and Hanukkah-DH is Jewish) present!
ER this past weekend with 9 fertilized that are being sent to PGS testing. We'll follow up with RE on 11/8 (Election Day) to find out the next steps.

Does anyone know the preparation before FET? Like, should I expect to go on meds before the transfer? Also this is my first IVF with no fresh transfer.
    33yrs old, married '14, TTC 2yr.
    MC '11; MC 1/15; IUI 4/16-BFN, IUI 5/16 cancelled d/t #follicles
  • Welcome @BecauseLove and @spring512!

This is my first ivf too and we didn't do a fresh.  My protocol is birth control until Nov. 11, estrogen pills and gel starting nov. 16, then US and progesterone in oil shots starting nov. 30. Transfer Dec 5.
Most everyone takes some type of estrogen and progesterone to perfect the uterine lining.

    Married: October 2014

    Me: 35 DH: 39

    TTC since November 2014

Diagnosis: Anovulation from PCOSish without syndrome, Male factors - low motility and morphology issues

    April-Sept. 2015 - Clomid and TI - BFN

Dec. 2015- HSG - Clear tubes

Jan., Feb., March 2016 - Letrozole 7.5mg and TI with HCG trigger= BFN

April, May, June 2016 - Letrozole 7.5mg and IUI with HCG trigger= BFN

    Sept 2016 - 12 non-PGS embryos frozen (5 5AAs)

    FET #1 Jan 16, 2017 - BFP!- MC at 6W5d

    FET #2 May 8, 2017 - BFP! EDD 1-24-2018

  • @spring512 - some people do bcp beforehand, but for me I've been on Lupron Depot (due to endometriosis). Then you take estrace, progesterone and anything else your doc decides is appropriate. My FET is quite complex but this'll be my 4th transfer so we're really throwing everything we can at it. Well not everything, but a lot. Amazing that you have 9 frosties being PGS'd. That's great! fx for great results come election day (for both you and this country).

@JESSABER0414 - wow another newbie.... fx for your first transfer too!!!!

I'm so ready to get moving on this cycle already haha. Come on November...

  • So I just got my Stim/retrieval plan and it looks like I will either be late Dec (which seems unlikely with the holidays) early Jan (also dependent on how my lining looks) for a FET. So if ok I will follow along with you ladies but might end up with a January FET instead. :)

    So exciting JESSABER0414

  • So I finally am getting the ball moving. I am setting up a call with the clinic, emailed this a.m. for date/time, to go over insurance/finances and then we'll probably be moving on to ordering meds! So exciting to feel like things are starting to slowly ramp up again.

I wanted to do a non-sedated transfer, but doc thinks it's too complicated given his last experience doing my transfer, so looks like I'll be sedated again. Boo. I do well on the anesthesia so I'm not too worried about it, but definitely wanted to avoid it if I could just to maybe up my chances... if that's even a factor. Worries me that because I have such a difficult case transfer-wise, that that is one of the major factors in my lack of success. Ugh. I asked if he thought IUI would be better for that reason, but given hubbie's low morph and our little "science experiment" of natural fert vs. ICSI, we know our chances with IUI are very low.

Anyhoo. I'm now trying to sort out our trip details since transfer is in NY and we're in Texas. Luckily our friends offered for us to stay with them and since it looks like a couple weeks, we may just take them up on it. They'll be there for a little bit of it, but then they'll be taking off so we'll have the place to ourselves during transfer and the few days after which is perfect!

    How's everyone else doing?

  • I just went in yesterday for an ultrasound and to pick up my meds schedule. I started Lupron this morning so we are finally getting the ball rolling. December seems so far away!!
  • I go in for ultrasound, labs, and hysteroscopy on Tuesday. Then I'll start Lupron on Wednesday!! I'm nervous and anxious!!

    EDD 8/30/17 with two girls!!!!!

    Audrey (4lb 8oz) and Olivia (6lb 6oz) born 8/10/17!!

  • Congrats @stars2016 , glad you have a date! I hope to be transferring on Dec 5th so we should be enduring the two week wait together.  December does seem far away but October flew for me since it started with recovery from OHSS and ended with the devastating death of my grandma. Hoping Nov. goes quickly so we have something good to look forward to for the holidays.

AFM: US Monday went well, she said we are right on track for Estrogen on Nov. 16th after AF. I STILL have a 20mm cyst on the right ovary, but she felt good about it "shrinking" down before the transfer. Other tiny cysts were present on each side, but at least I don't need their help any more. I often have a few twinges of pain/discomfort but nothing too bad.

    Good luck to everyone!

  • Wow okay just got off the call with my clinic.... why do they make it so much more stressful than it needs to be!?

We set the transfer date as Dec 15. I asked the doc AND nurse to verify the dates twice because I wanted to be certain since I'm coming from out of town, need to book flights/accommodations etc... they confirmed. So I go ahead with my plans.

Well on my call this morning she starts chatting and all is seeming in line with earlier discussions and then she's like transfer on Dec 20th.... huuWhat?! That's the date I booked my return flight... argh. Anyway, she's running it by the doc now to see if we can move my transfer back up to where we originally planned it for (except for some unknown reason she wants to do it on Dec 13th now).

Anyways. Looks like I'm going for baseline on Nov 14th now (instead of 30th) and starting daily lupron that day. Craziness... I got super overwhelmed and started crying for no reason. I blame my Lupron Depot.

@oxinfree the Lupron is okay so far...the only side effect I am having so far is sore boobs. I hope everything works out with your transfer date! That is definitely stressful to have them switch it up on you like that

@JESSABER0414 glad to have a tww buddy! Sorry you had such a tough October but I hope December brings you good news!
  • Posting in here as well as the Jan FET board, since I'm not sure when my FET will be, but...
I'm triggering tonight and retrieval will be on Wednesday. They measured 9 mature follicles today. Hopefully there will be more mature in a couple days. I'm a different kind of nervous this time- while I'm comfortable with the process and know what to expect, I feel like the stakes are higher and I'm just so worried the same thing that happened last cycle will happen again. Trying to stay hopeful and positive! : )

  • Rough day today. Had to have a hysteroscopy this AM. I had no idea it would hurt that badly!! I've had 3 HSGs, a saline ultrasound/mock transfer, cyst aspiration, 1 transfer, and 1 attempted transfer with fluid aspiration. But this may have been the most painful. But everything looked great, no sign of active endo!! So I'm on track for transfer in December. Start Lupron on Thursday!!

  • @oxinfree We thought about it, but after only 1 of 4 day 5 embryos tested PGS normal in our last cycle, we decided to only do FETs. As tempting as it is to have a transfer sooner than Dec or Jan, I know it's better to wait.

  • @oxinfree Tomorrow will be Day 5, so they'll be biopsied and frozen. Then the samples will be sent to Genesis Genetics. Last time the results took about a week, so whenever I get the results back we'll start planning for the FET. Still hard to tell if it'll be in Dec or Jan!

  • Got the update that 3 embryos looked good enough to biopsy today. And they're giving 2 more the chance to grow a bit more tomorrow. Was hoping for a higher number, but as long as most of these (if not all) are PGS-normal, I'll be happy.
