Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: WTO Thursday 10/20

  • @eggplantface Yah the IUI procedure is super simple and quick, just insert the catheter and go... unless they can't get the catheter through your cervix and they have to grab your cervix with a tenaculum. If that ever happens your DH needs to get you an extra special treat, because it hurts like a MoFo

@eggplantface okay, good to know. this is my first cycle temping and I just was surprised by the drop as my other temps were pretty consistent. I do have issues sleeping, so that could always explain it...

Ooo interested in whatever recipes you are using!
  • @Saralee797  here is the balls I make https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/no-bake-energy-bites/ but I sub out coconut flakes and I add in maca root, I eyeball maybe a tablespoon or two, and I also put in a gob of poppy seeds because poppy seeds are supposed to increase sperm production.

My morning shakes have half a banana, spinach, almond milk, chia seeds, maca root, poppy seeds (because I bought a 5lb bag and now have no idea what to do with them so I put them in everything-I'm never going to pass a drug test with all the poppy seeds I'm eating!) flax seed, one scoop of chocolate protein, cinnamon (because its also one of nature's magical curers) and a glob of peanut butter.

@JuneRoseRuby Oooo! Fertility/energy balls, what a great idea! I was going to beg DH to put maca in his hot chocolate during my FW but energy ball might be an easier sell lol I'm going to Pinterest some recipes! I actually have been taking maca on and off for years. I first tried it when one of the medications I was on gave me hot flashes and I was surprised that it not only helped with that but also seemed to make my periods a lot less painful/less symptomatic etc. AND increased my libido lol...gave me crazy sex dreams :D I try to switch up the type I take each time I buy it now and some of the effects have definitely lessened but I do seem to notice a difference if I stop taking it for a length of time so I figure I'll keep taking it. But ya, since the libido effects were quite immediate for me in the beginning, I'm hoping it might give DH a boost, too! His libido is fine but he's not also awesome at finishing. The one cycle where I put it in his smoothie, we BD'd ED for 7 days except for one. Whereas sometimes I'm lucky if I can get EOD out of him :/ FX!

Oh, and as for me, I add the maca to my matcha tea in the mornings ;) I take it all cycle long because I do feel like it helps regulate cycles
  • edited October 2016
@JuneRoseRuby ya I'll probably have a harder time convincing him he has to make them last for five days :D (as long as I don't call them fertility balls, of course lol....why are men so difficult?! If someone tells me it's good for fertility I'd be like GIVE ME ALL OF IT!!!! :D)

eta: there probably aren't any studies on it for pregnancy so I'd definitely stop if I'm lucky enough to get KU
  • @eggplantface Thanks! I'll keep today as CD1 then. I figured there had to be a "rule."

@JuneRoseRuby I'll have to keep an eye out for it - that sounds like my heaven! Plus, DH doesn't like coconut, so it would be all mine!!!

  • @SaphireSweetie88 I temp at 430am everyday, with my eyes closed, chart my temp and go back to sleep. Just make sure you get 3 hours of sleep in before you temp
  • @SaphireSweetie88 Just like @beachbunnyxo123 said you only need 3 hours of sleep before temping and should temp at about the same time every day. You just set an alarm, wake up, temp and go back to sleep.  Also I know that checking CM and CP can seem a bit weird and awkward at first but I find it very empowering to know what is going on with my body. It might take some time to figure it all out but I think it's worth it in the end. Have you read TCOYF?

  • @beachbunnyxo123 @lulu1180 - I didn't realize you only need 3 hours of sleep before temping. Even with my work schedule I think I can find a time that I would be able to do that :)  I have a copy of TCOYF but sadly haven't had much luck with reading it. :(  What type of thermometer do you use when you temp? If I am going to start temping next cycle, I should get ready for it.

  • @SaphireSweetie88 most people use a Mabis thermometer and TBH I have terrible sleeps and most of the time lately I was waking up around 3/330am and a lot of times getting up to pee and then going back to bed and taking my temp when the alarm went off at 530 and I still had a very pretty chart last cycle. Strangely, I've found that taking your temp at the same time matters more than how much sleep you've had before it *shrug* I don't know if that works for everyone but I know I'm not the only one to say that on here. I just know it's definitely worth a shot because I always feel so much better knowing when/that I have ovulated! Especially because my other signs don't always line up (I tend to get ewcm on cd10 and 11 but don't O until cd14/15). Good luck!

@JuneRoseRuby All bets are off for most women temp-wise during, right before, and right after AF. Some people have more predictable patterns, but I've seen a lot of charts with "Rocky Mountain" temps in the beginning.
@LuND I feel some sort of weird reproductive area stuff going on through much of my cycle. My ovulation days are all over the place and someone suggested that maybe I have big follicles that I can feel maturing? I don't know if that's possible. I'm wondering if what I'm feeling now is a UTI or almost ovulation because even though it is super early, my OPKs are almost positive, CP is now high and soft, and I have WCM. Maybe what I'm feeling is intense O stuff and not a UTI. I am confused since it's only CD9. Temps will tell! PS let me know if you talk to your doc and get an answer.

@Saralee797 hey why not?! It's not super expensive and that and glutamine are the only two supplements I ever really recommend to others (glutamine isn't for TTC tho lol). Fwiw, I don't like Vega brand, and I prefer powder to the pills. I switch between Organika, which is a golden maca, and Organic Traditions Macaccino, which is a blend of black maca, raw cacao, vanilla, and coconut palm sugar because I like the benefits of the black maca (only slightly different), but the taste can be awful on its own lol (but is pleasant in this blend)

@SaphireSweetie88 I live in Canada so I got my BBT thermometer at Shoppers Drugmart and I believe it was around $10/15? I don't even know the brand. The Mabis is under $20CDN but I think most of the American ladies got theirs for closer to $10, and most get theirs off Amazon ;)

    edited for clarity

  • Also, @Saralee797 my friend asked her RE if it would help her fertility and he said sure why not. It's only antioxidants so that made me feel like I also got the docs orders that it was okay to take for fertility. But look it up, it's got crazy awesome benefits.

  • Took a bump break for a few months but need to vent to people who understand. Had a crampy couple of TTC weeks :(

    Month/Cycle: 10/12

    CD: 10

WAYDTGKU: all the usual stuff, had some testing (all things seem good with me) but not taking anything other than vitamins at this point.

R/R: so we've been trying for a while and literally everyone has gotten pregnant around me during this time. 2 close friends. 2 people at work. 2 friends wives. My cousin. Like more ppl in my circle then have been preggers in the last 5 yrs.  Last week my brother told me he accidently got his new gf pregnant (he has a 15 month old from another baby momma). Then on the same day one of my friends texts me to tell me his wife was pregnant. Then tonight I had to live through a baby shower where  (because it was all friends and no family - so a room full of 25-35 yr old women) there were 2 new babies and FIVE pregnant women out of 20 girls. Who were all talking about how easy it was to get pregnant.  1st try. Blah blah.  I wasn't feeling overly upset about it taking so long for us but today I'm just sad.

CS/Q: not sure what this means? Been  a couple of months and I'm outta the loop.

GTKU: Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but it turned out to be for the best?
I'm not sure. I think some of my bad boy choices lead me to pick my husband who is the opposite.

@kiwielopingbride Sorry you're dealing with that. It is always like a slap in the face when something is easy for others and not you. Don't blame yourself. Check out what others are doing in the WAYDTGKU. Have you made an RE appointment? If you are nearing a year of TTC, I would talk to your doc and do it early in case there is a waiting period before you can get in.
