Which does everyone prefer?? We did similac sensitivity in the hospital but noticed he started taking the bottle differently after a while as in acting like he was choking crying all the time super gassy. So then our doctor put us on enfamil for spit up. But spit up was never a problem. He did the same things so then he put us on a lactose free formula. He never gave us a specific type or brand just said get a lactose free formula. Well all I found at our store was enfamil soy milk.. it's helped I'd say with the gas issues but he's still had reflux we have him on zantac and he spits up alot now. But the formula is very unsatisfying to him. He can never get full. So I started a little cereal since his enfamil for spit up was rice based. But he seems constipated. Anyway. I decided to go back to the similac sens sensitive since my doctor never gave me a specific brand or formula.. anyone have any thoughts on this? It says for lactose sensitive babies.. but it is milk based but I'm unsure. He just took 6 Oz of this and seemed full and happy. But it was the first time.. opinions please. And ps. Doctor did say a long time ago we would eventually go back to the similac.. so maybe it is the better choice?
Re: Enfamil or similac
We are using Similac non-GMO (the lighter blue), and she hasn't shown an issue. We also just started her on rice cereal and it has decreased her daily poops by 1-2 diapers. Cereal can cause constipation, which is why we are only doing maybe a half tablespoon (prepared with formula) a day to start with.
We r exhausted and so is my boy
We use Similac Advance (blue top) and it's worked the best for us.
Similac Senstive was bad - she became very fussy, gassy, and spit up a lot, which isn't normal because she hardly spits up.
Enfamil for gassy tummy also made her gassy and fussy.
Then we tried the Kirkland brand from Costco and same thing - became super gassy and spit up a lot.
So we just stick with Similac Advance.
To avoid gas, we use the Dr Browns bottles. To avoid reflux, we elevated the head of her matress slightly so that she wasn't completely flat. We also would hold her upright for about 15-30 minutes after feeding, and that helped too.
I how you can find something that helps your baby. Good luck!
We put him on soy and we have had no other problems since. He gets rashy every now and then but the doctors don't think it's an allergy since there's no fussiness or other symptoms.
