Enfamil or similac

Which does everyone prefer?? We did similac sensitivity in the hospital but noticed he started taking the bottle differently after a while as in acting like he was choking crying all the time super gassy. So then our doctor put us on enfamil for spit up. But spit up was never a problem. He did the same things so then he put us on a lactose free formula. He never gave us a specific type or brand just said get a lactose free formula. Well all I found at our store was enfamil soy milk.. it's helped I'd say with the gas issues but he's still had reflux we have him on zantac and he spits up alot now. But the formula is very unsatisfying to him. He can never get full. So I started a little cereal since his enfamil for spit up was rice based. But he seems constipated. Anyway. I decided to go back to the similac sens sensitive since my doctor never gave me a specific brand or formula.. anyone have any thoughts on this? It says for lactose sensitive babies.. but it is milk based but I'm unsure. He just took 6 Oz of this and seemed full and happy. But it was the first time.. opinions please. And ps. Doctor did say a long time ago we would eventually go back to the similac.. so maybe it is the better choice?

We only just switched to formula exclusively about a month or so ago. He started off on Good Start and did really well with it. He has reflux (on Zantac) and spits up a lot (happy spitter though thanks to the Zantac). We started him on Enfamil A+ Thickened a few days ago. His spit ups are less frequent and a lesser volume. He doesn't seem to be constipated but his poops are a little more spread out than before. It might just be that he is adjusting to the new formula. I don't think it fills him up as well as the Good Start did. I've found that he needs 6oz compared to the 4oz he needed with Good Start. I'm going to stick with it to see how it goes but I may switch back to Good Start since we only had an issue with spit up.

Similac Sensitive is milk based, but it IS lactose free. If he is taking it just fine now, I'd say keep him on it. If in a few days he goes back to not taking it, try Enfamil Gentlease.

We are using Similac non-GMO (the lighter blue), and she hasn't shown an issue. We also just started her on rice cereal and it has decreased her daily poops by 1-2 diapers. Cereal can cause constipation, which is why we are only doing maybe a half tablespoon (prepared with formula) a day to start with.

Using enfamil AR for spit up and hylands baby gas drops has completely fixed the acid reflux, spitting up, gas, and any little constipation. Been on this regimine since she turned 1 month old

We r doing similac lactose and the prescribed drops and just went from zantac to metrazal (spelling).. my son is not doing well. Now his reflux has started making him very restless in the nights. We only get a real 2 hrs and very gassy but not constipated anymore as I have been giving him applesauce once a day.. he's 4 months almost. Idk. Praying this new medicine works

    Lurking from April

We use Similac Advance (blue top) and it's worked the best for us.

Similac Senstive was bad - she became very fussy, gassy, and spit up a lot, which isn't normal because she hardly spits up.

Enfamil for gassy tummy also made her gassy and fussy.

Then we tried the Kirkland brand from Costco and same thing - became super gassy and spit up a lot.

So we just stick with Similac Advance.

To avoid gas, we use the Dr Browns bottles. To avoid reflux, we elevated the head of her matress slightly so that she wasn't completely flat. We also would hold her upright for about 15-30 minutes after feeding, and that helped too.

I how you can find something that helps your baby. Good luck!

My son now takes Enfamil prosobee or Similac Isomil. He started on Similac Advance and would make faces with it, but no issues. Then my husband switched to Enfamil Newborn because his friends said it was better and then he would have one episode a week of crying for 3 hours straight. This continued despite switching to Gentleease and finally, there was a lot of mucusy, loose stools. The GI specialist said that it was stomach inflammation, which is caused by a milk allergy.
We put him on soy and we have had no other problems since. He gets rashy every now and then but the doctors don't think it's an allergy since there's no fussiness or other symptoms.

Any one know if there is a higher cal enfamil out there? My guy hasn't gained a whole lot of weight as of his 4 month appt. Birth weight 7#3oz current weight 12# even. He is on enfamil infant currently. The dr was fine keeping him on infant but I'm exploring the possibility of switching.

@Tawny87 there's also enfamil enfacare. It's made for premature babies so it has extra nutrients in it to help babies catch up to other babies their age.

We use the Similac with the green lid for sensitive tummies and spit-up, my kid goes full fucking exorcist if we give him Enfamil.

My son is doing excellent on Enfamil, though we haven't tried Similac Isomil. We moved to the Target soy now and he's doing excellent. The Enfamil stunk like dog food/mashed potatoes and he had a rash often. Since moving to Target brand, he's had no rash at all.
