  • @oscuma Ahh, Hs are funny. Does he know that you actually want to start PNVs pretty early (like 3 mo if you can)? And that they're generally just a good multivitamin for any lady of childbearing age?

  • @beachbunnyxo123 thank you! Enjoy Vegas! Sounds like a fun time :) A doctor that works in my clinic is there this week for 4 days.

@kiki75 we had a talk that night when he got home (the whole moving too fast happened via text) and I told him that (1) me taking PNVs does not make me get pregnant sooner (2) you want to take them early on to build up vitamins that I am going to struggle to have in me the first trimester (3) that they are only a little different than the women's daily I was taking anyways and  (3) that yes any women my age should be on them, and many are. I used the fact that I have a TON of patients on them to help me.

sorry for the long winded response.

  • @adirat thank you for the input. The PNV fiasco happened back in August when my IUD was taken out. Since then we have had many, many talks because my initial concern was that he agreed to try but didn't really mean it. I thought he agreed just to make me happy.

It has become pretty clear that his initial responses were mostly an "oh crap this is real" moment and since then he has become very comfortable with the idea and has even talked to me about future nurseries and names. I believe him when he says he is ready now and that he wants a baby. He said he just needed reassurance in that moment. (IE: we will be good parents, he won't be like his dad, we are in a good place for kids, etc.)

I appreciate the concern though! Thank you.

  • @osucma Oh good, that must have been such a relief for you! I'm glad to hear it. Sounds more like a "ugh, men" situation than anything of concern lol

@BertieMeetsGertie Sorry for CD 1. As far as telling people over Christmas, you would still be far enough to have had an initial US by then. But, if you tell them in January, it add excitement to one of the lamest months of the year. :)
I'm digging your positive outlook! We basically only see our families around the holidays because we live 16 hours away. I would love to be able to tell them in person, but it might not work out that way. My inlaws at least have smartphones and internet so we could skype with them, but my parents still live in the stone age.

Thanks everyone for your kind words today. I'm so glad I have you all during this crazy process.  <3

CS/Q: Q - Has anyone been asked to choose their location for L&D yet?  I finally broke down and went to my PCP about fertility and she said we've waiting long enough and can be aggressive about it (which is awesome).  She did a short in-office exam today and I'm scheduled for bloodwork next Monday and she wants to schedule a more thorough exam with my (future) OB/GYN so I have to select my OB/GYN and hospital I want for L&D ASAP so I can schedule that next exam and admittedly I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

GTKY: If we're going on a field trip, I would want to be a seamstress or a weaver for a European court during the 16th century.  I would love to learn about their embellishment techniques up close and personal.  I might legit only finish 1 gown during my 3 months stay but that's okay :)

  • @WildMagelet I find it strange that you would be choosing your L&D location before even being KUd. With DD, we just had to tell the OBGYN where once the induction date was scheduled.  I mean, we knew all along which network of hospitals we were selecting from based on who we chose for our OBGYN but even then, we could have changed our minds at any point up to L&D.

  • @kiwi2628 I compromise with DH and ours is set at 68 when we are here and no lower than 52 when we aren't. DH is home one day during the week when it goes down to that temp and he doesn't care. Our central air doesn't really work upstairs, so it gets really cold during most of the year and really hot in summer.
@GlitterFish You have a lot of open temps and that makes it hard to come up with a cover line. What happens if you drop your second temp?

    Thanks for the CS everyone!!

Thanks for the reassurance @hupp0013 & @zwink1 ! The control line wasn't super light, but not as dark as I normally see it, either.  I just got a new pack of wondfos, because I was out of the HPTs, and I just mixed them all together so I don't know what's old or new pack anymore.

@Kiki75 My brain can use the help anyway I'm sure! I take all gummy vitamins and the Fish Oil are actually like sour patch kids!

@adirat All the open circles are annoying! The earlier ones yes, I didn't get up until 7:15 on the weekend (gasp!), but the later ones are all between 5:45-6:20. To me, that's pretty close!
And I wish I was watching dolphins at the beach, but instead I'm touring Amish country :-P

@beachbunnyxo123 No, it doesn't happen every time. I just took one here at about 6pm and the control line was darker again.

@jacksonbears My obgyn discovered in march that I was "subclinical" hypo but I took forever to follow up on it... in fact, until I started reading this board that it may be contributing to this TTC taking a long time! My initial TSH in March was I think 5.9ish, I had it redone 2 weeks ago and it was 3.9ish, and now I just had it done 1.5 weeks ago and it was 1.97!!!! I did test positive for Hashimoto's though, so my endo said that's likely why it's all over the place? Anyway, I'm on a tiny synthroid dose I guess just for thyroid support while my body continues destroying it...??

@NYTino24 Nothing happens if I drop either or both of the open circles from last weekend.

@Pepper16 Not sure if I did this right, but it sure looks like a pattern to me of a big drop, then a flatline, then a climb lol

@adirat TB ate my reply to you! grrrrrr

@GlitterFish I'm glad the appointment went well and you have a plan! Sorry to hear you have Hashimoto's, though. Just an FYI, it may take you a little time to get your thyroid back to normal on medication, and you may need to try different doses. But it's also very possible your thyroid was 100% the TTC issue and you'll soon be PG  What kind of doctor are you seeing for your thyroid? I strongly recommend seeing an endocrinologist (not a PCP and not an RE) so that you can get to the right dose of medication quickly and safely. It took me a long time to get my thyroid issues resolved and it would have been so much better if I'd just seen a good endocrinologist sooner.

See my above reply to @jacksonbears - my numbers are all over the place, which my Endo says can happen with Hashimoto's. I'm on a teeeeeeny dose of synthroid, and not getting tested again for 8 weeks, so I doubt that will have too much effect... Endo says that I shouldn't have had any "symptoms" so she doesn't think anything will change physically for me.
She is a regular endo, not an RE, but not at all a genius, so I'm not sure about the little that she did say! She hardly asked me anything, except repeatedly about irregular periods (don't have them), and come to find out the other blood tests were for PCOS (don't have it)! Which she never mentioned until having the results!

  • @GlitterFish Thanks for the additional info. Yep, I stick my by original CS! If your high temps early on in the cycle are from waking up later, I suggest you just ignore them and create your own coverline. And, so glad to hear your TSH is coming down! It is very much true that thyroid issues can hinder one's ability to get pregnant so I hope this helps. That said... I think you should consider seeing a new doctor. It sounds like she isn't communicating well with you and I agree that it's weird the other tests were for PCOS without her asking you for a comprehensive history. I don't have Hashimoto's so I'm not an expert, but since it's an autoimmune disease, I'm sure there is something else to consider in addition to the synthroid. (While levothyroxine will treat the hypothyroid resulting from the Hashimoto's, you're completely right that it won't fix the real issue and your body could continue attacking your thyroid. I'm sure that can't be good.)
