I'm with ya'll on the anxiety. I've been cramping for the past week and I'm so scared that something is wrong. It really doesn't feel like it's worse than period cramps, it's more like a heavy restless feeling in my uterus that is always there. (Which when I describe it like that sounds exactly like my uterus stretching and making room.) I know everything I read says cramping is normal, but I'm still so worried.
My most unexpected/strange symptom is that my nipples are hard all the time now. It's SO weird. That rarely happened to me before, even if it was freezing outside. Is this happening to anyone else lol?

(I realized after writing this that's it might be kind of "out there" for some people, so please lay off any negativity, I really am trying to help, because I'm in the same boat!) @starphish18@Ambethsco You are not alone! The anxiety could almost be the worst symptom to deal with. There's no "fix" like "drink ginger ale" with nausea or "take a hot shower" for the aches and pains. My humble advice, as corny as it is, is to take it one day at a time. When you start thinking about the big picture, the 9 months, the dealing with a newborn, the being prepared / under-prepared, the horrible what-ifs about the pregnancy and life and work and family and everybody's health... that's when it gets overwhelming. That's when it's time to BREATHE. That is something you CAN control. Your breath. Inhale all the positive energies around you. Exhale and let go of the worry. Inhale slowly and feel your body fill with peace. Exhale and release the unknown, the what-ifs. Inhale, for stillness. Exhale the sadness and anger. Inhale the strength of womanhood, let it be your rock, Exhale those things you can not control. Inhale peace, Exhale worry. Blow it out. Get it out of you. Release it from your body so you can start to heal. Take it one day at a time. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present. Take time for gratitude in those things you CAN control, and the rest should fall away.
Forgot to ask in my earlier post...has anyone gotten their flu shot yet or know anything about getting one while pregnant? I will have to get one for work, as I work in a hospital...I already feel tired and achey so I am not looking forward to making that worse with my flu shot.
I've never been so tired in my life!! I am more exhausted than I've been with any of my pregnancies. I am also getting desperate for anything to help with this morning sickness. Nausea I could handle but this dry heaving I could do without.
Has anyone started swelling yet? I had to take my engagement ring off yesterday because it was cutting into my finger. WTH is that?
@NurseK2016 I don't have anything to offer on if it'll be worse malaise/injection site pain etc than non-pregnant. But I do know that by and large, the flu shot is recommended and highly encouraged at any stage of pregnancy. For any naysayers, no there are not tons of official studies on pregnant women getting the vaccine but that's mainly because the shot changes every year and it's extra hard to get IRB approval to do studies on pregnant women. Getting the flu can be lethal to you and baby so it's worth it. Obviously final say goes to your personal OB. I do know my hospital requires a waiver/letter from mine that says it's ok when pregnant.
Sorry im 100% super pro-vax - I work in medical/pulmonary intensive care and have cared for many many young health patients who have either died from the flu or almost died from the flu. Getting off my soapbox now!
@NurseK2016 I got a flu shot when I was pregnant with DD. It was a different shot than what the "regular" people got, I think there is a different ingredient or an ingredient left out. I felt just like I normally do after a flu shot. I will probably get one this time around too.
Many nausea seems to be getting later and later. I told my mom last night that I would rather have this horrible nausea than be throwing up every day. I'm sorry to those who are getting sick every day.
**TW** For those of you with anxiety, I am right there with you. Right after I got my BFP, I'm talking literally 5 minutes later, my friend texted saying she had just lost her third baby. And my mom had a loss with her second pregnancy and this is my second. Cue all of the anxiety! **end TW**
Ugh. I hear all of you on the weird food stuff. Thinking about food is fine at this point. I'll even feel hunger. But as soon as I look at it? Forget it. I don't want it anymore.
I got a regular flu shot with both of my previous pregnancies. I asked about it at my last visit and our clinic didn't get their order of flu vax in yet, but said it should be here for my next appt (end of October) and I'll get it then! We also get the Dtap in the third trimester in case no one has told you that yet!

@SKZW When I was officially diagnosed with anxiety this summer, my counselor recommended I download a free breathing app on my phone. There are many of them, but the one I use is called Breathe2Relax. You can customize how long of an inhalation and exhalation you want, a relaxing background image, the number of breathing cycles you want to do, and add optional music or voice narration to walk you through. The app also asks your stress level before and after the breathing exercise and tracks your stress that way.
I will add, don't set your inhale/exhale duration at your full lung capacity when you are relaxed. I did, and my chest is so tight when I'm anxious that I could never keep up. I had to reset it. It is handy to have when I'm out, and sometimes I use it at home too. I'm never fully "relaxed" after one round (haven't tried it more than once), but I am less stressed.
*edit to clarify- I haven't tried it more than once at one time. I have used it more than once or I wouldn't recommend the idea.
Oddly, I've found that eating regular Pringles helps my morning sickness and nausea. I think it's the saltiness of the chips that helps. La Croix sparkling water is helpful too! I like the range of flavors they have to offer.
I just had to look up outshine bars. I thought you all were talking about a granola bar. I don't usually buy popsicles (my frozen treat of choice is ice cream sandwiches). I'll look for those when it gets warmer out!

I decided to opt out this year and will just wear the stupid mask at the hospital. This year's flu vaccine is new (not from the H1N1 patient from a few years back that they've been using for the last several years) and I'd rather see how it turns out.
@MollyandD I'm right there with you I will feel absolutely starving and three bites into something I feel stuffed. Fast forward and hour and I'm ravenous but can't eat. I had a sandwich and three bites of a taco yesterday. Soooooo hungry.
#teamprovax here, too! I got my flu shot last week when I went in for my ultrasound. Hurt for a day, but now it's all better! The flu while pregnant is nothing to mess around with...

What do you mean when you say, "I'd rather see how it turns out?"
Last time I was at the OB's office, I was told they still hadn't gotten the vaccine but would soon, so I will probably get when I go in for my next u/s on the 18th, or the time after that.

I'm planning on getting the flu shot for sure. Because I'm still employed by Target, I will just get mine for free at a CVS pharmacy in Target (assuming they're still free for team members.) I wanted to get the shot before DD was born so I could pass on some immunity to her but she was born right before it became avaliable.
I haven't ever had a flu shot, I'm not really agaisnt them. I just think that they are for more at risk populations, children, the elderly, anyone with a less strong immune system. Until now, I haven't felt I "needed" one. I usually get a cold each season, but I rarely get the flu *knock, knock*. Of course, now that its not just me in my body, I have to be more careful. I have my first u/s and appointent in a couple of hours, I will ask about flu shots. I still go to a university, so it's probably a good idea.
pshaortao make sure you tell them you're pregnant. They have different shots for pregnant women. Last time I got my shot w/ DS, it was fine. I didn't get sick afterwards. I would recommend getting it b/c your immune system is down when you're pregnant, and you don't want to put your baby at risk. Not to mention then you'll have to go get Tamiflu, which requires a prescription. Sounds like a bigger headache.
PSA for those dealing with bloat (which seems to be quite a few of us)--I bought these pant extenders last week and they have been SO worth it. I toss one in my pocket or my handbag and if my pants start to feel too tight mid-day, it's easy to just pop onto my jeans. Easier to carry around than a belly band, in my opinion. :-) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VNTQCFY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I get the flu shot every year because I'm a nurse. I've never heard there was a different shot for pregnant people? I received the regular dose with my last pregnancy and did not have any complications. Are you referring to an intradermal flu vaccination or thimerosal-free flu vaccines? I looked on the CDC website and they don't list any special type of flu vaccine specific for pregnant women. I also give at least 100 flu shots every season, some are pregnant women, and we have never given a different strain or dose.
@lrwardrop I know every year when I got them with my last job they would ask if you were pregnant or nursing. They gave those that were a different shot. I mentioned it in a previous post. I think it is missing an ingredient or has an extra one added, I can't really remember as it's been 3 years.
@lrwardrop I don't remember ever gettting a "different" flu shot when pregnant or nursing either... I know that it's definitely not the flu mist, but I'm not sure if that's recommended or not for pregnant women, I just don't prefer it.

I got a flu shot last week and the doc said that pregnant women need a special one. I don't remember specifics, but it needs to be handled differently.
I guess I need to get on the flue shot train, which reminds me I need to take the twins to get theirs. I was originally planning to be able to drink after shots like normal, "shots for shots"
Lower back pain is normal right? I'm sitting in the bath while the kids destroy the house right now because I'm so uncomfortable. Appointment tomorrow so hopefully the time passes quickly.
@chickyclg I have been having a lot of low back pain! I remember this during the third trimester with my other pregnancies but not so early. Hoping this isn't a sign to come for back pain all 9 months! I hope your bath helped, yesterday I locked myself in our bedroom to have a moment of piece while the kids also destroyed the house!

Holy moly MS. It kicked in for me in the last 24 hours and I haven't even vomited yet but that feeling like I'm about to is enough. Luckily my amazing H brought me up saltines and ginger ale this morning (after he was already in the car in the garage and I called him because I wasn't sure if I could get off the bathroom floor without ralphing on the carpet on my way down. He's too good to me). I've read everyone's tips but I guess I just needed somewhere to complain/commiserate!
@chickyclg yeah I think it falls under "holy crap this happens early the second time"! I keep complaining to my husband about how it seems too early for round ligament pain compared to last time and he assures me that all the fun stuff starts early once your body has been through it before.
It's a little hard to tell myself what seems concerning sometimes is actually a good sign but I guess these little guys keep us on our toes from the start! My two year old is climbing the outside edge of the stairs (outside the bannister!) and this one is giving me miserable cramps and pains. Well played, you two!
Hi everyone- Anyone still not experiencing morning sickness? Or in previous pregnancy not experienced it at all? I'm at 7 weeks, 3 days, and I've had two days where I felt sick for maybe an hour or two, but nothing regular and nothing all that significant. I know I've read that some women don't feel sick at all, but not having the symptoms makes me anxious! Thanks
@jenshoes I'm in the same boat you are. I'm 7 weeks today and have only had a few waves of nausea. It is making me BSC! My first appointment is Wednesday October 12th so I'm hoping I get some reassurance from that! You are not alone!
@Jenshoes I am at 7w2d and am not experiencing morning sickness at the moment. I had mild nausea for most of last week but I have felt 100% normal since Monday morning. Every morning I wake up hoping to feel like crap, then get scared that I don't. I called the OB nurse (first-time mom paranoia) and she was not concerned--she said that some women have MS every day, some none at all. When I stressed that I DID have it (then suddenly didn't), she said that was probably normal too and I should enjoy it while I can. Anyways, I don't have any reassurance since this is my first time and my first ultrasound won't be until October 18, but I wanted to express solidarity!
