@ThePax89 I had a lot more pain on my right side than my left side during the first 3-6 weeks last time and I think I was struggling more with positioning and getting a good latch on that side versus the left. I've always wondered if the lower supply on the right was because a bad latch early on lead to her not as effectively "emptying" that right side in the beginning meaning maybe my supply on the right never established as well as the left. If it wasn't because of that and it was because my left has a larger natural capacity (quantity or size of ducts), then I would expect my left will be my rockstar this time too.
leaky boooooobs omg. I could only get drips last time if I pinched, this time it's constant dripping. And my left is still producing clear colostrum but my right is straight up yellow. Boobs are so weird.
ETA: My right side started producing first last time, and ended up being my star producer while lefty was pretty gimpy. I'm curious to see if that repeats.
Ready for an amazing, sexy Friday night at home! DH is driving his niece back from college (about 6 hours each way) and I have a box of Annie's white cheddar GF mac & cheese with some heated nipple pads ready to go! Funny how things change!
Also excuse my cat's photobomb. Like I said, she's always at my side. I really hope these help with my killer boob pain today.
My nips have only gotten bigger and darker, with more defined bumps. No leakage. Not much tenderness. First time mom. Hoping these boobs of mine know what they're doing! I wanna breastfeed so bad!
So I have a friend that just had a baby (3 weeks early) & her milk never came in. I didn't even know that was possible. Is that a thing? Anyone know how common?
I know it happens but I don't think it's that common. I had a friend just give birth (c-section) 4.5 weeks early and has managed to breastfeed. Usually seeing a lactation consultant helps in most cases.
@kelseyh62 it can happen if part of the placenta is retained. Milk production starts with delivery of the placenta, not the baby. She should get an ultrasound.
I'm sick. My son and I both have a stupid head cold and are miserable. I think this is the first time we've both been sick since he was born. It's always just been one of us and the other perfectly healthy. I think it's because he weaned.
You know aside from a bout at week 16ish with lightning nipple, my boobs haven't done too much either. I expressed some colostrum one time when one was very itchy but they've just been chilling lately. Not really growing either.
@shlecka mine haven't grown much either, but the lightning nipple strikes every once in a while. Yesterday I walked through the produce section at the grocery store and OMG these guys were unhappy!
I really didn't produce with my first ever. I had a csection and was sick afterwards. I think it kept my body from doing anything. I also think that's pretty rare for that to happen. i'm hoping things go better this time.
I wanted to go to bed braless to let my boobs breathe. Apparently that's off the table now because I just woke up to leaky boob/colostrum stains on my Snoogle and our black sheets, plus crusty boobs (like full on lines). Wtf. I usually leak a few drops here and there throughout the day. Where did this all come from while I was sleeping?! Also a small part of me is really excited because, like I said before, I never thought I could breastfeed. I guess it's time to get up and wash the sheets now.
Oh my goodness. It feels like someone is holding a lighter to both nips, and then taking a razor to them during breaks. What is this? I definitely never had this wth my first.
