Can we talk nipples for a hot second?

I can't remember if I had this with my first pregnancy. Does anyone else have yellowish "crust" on their nipples? No colostrum if I try and hand express. My first daughter did just wean from nursing 2 weeks ago.

I'm in the flaky nipple boat, same thing happened last time for a few weeks then was replaced with express-able colostrum

Not yellow, but I had white flakiness that started sometime late first tri and I finally got tired of it and used some Lanolin and it went away. I had no idea what it was or if it was dry skin--it wasn't itchy at all, but haven't seen it come back since I used Lanolin, so I've just been all

I've had this with all my pregnancies. My doctor has always told me it is fried colostrum and I have said I have been unable to Hand express and have not actually leaked. But she said it starts like this and then will express more... Basically what @katesmama0706 said

I have the peeling, flaky skin thing going on on my left nipple only? It's white in color, kind of like dry skin. It's on the actual areola, surrounding the nipple. I put some coco butter on it & went away. I have only noticed it a few times. My boobs and nipples have been itchy as hell, maybe I am scratching too much/too hard? Also: so glad we can talk and admit these things! Lol!

@nolemomma14 I noticed it more often on my right nip than left last time. This time it's opposite. If it's on your areola though it might be dry skin, keep moisturizing haha

Yes I do have yellowish dry spots on my nipples and I just weaned in the last few weeks too. I'm thinking it's dried milk ducts that haven't been dry in a looooong time.

Plus 1 for flaky nips. I use an in-shower moisturizer every few days to keep it at bay and keep my bras from getting too greasy.

I have the yellowish crust on my nipples too.  I thought it was dried colostrum, but then I didn't  get anything when I tried to hand express so I was confused too.  I was 21 weeks when I was able to express colostrum last time so this is probably right on schedule for me.

Oh wow @colleenkevin that's early and great. I didn't even try until 35 weeks or so last time so I'm not sure when it actually started.

I noticed my boobs in general were flaking and it seemed to accumulate around my nipples inside my bra (I've pretty much been wearing one 24/7 since I found out I was pregnant). Like others mentioned, moisturizer seemed to help.

I have noticed some weird yellowish flakes/thick dried stuff around my nipples. I pierced my nipples when I was young and cool (an attempt to reclaim my boobs after my reduction surgery), so I assumed it was just something to do with that more so than pregnancy. I guess maybe not. I'll be keeping an interested eye on my nips now.

+1 on the dried, peeling skin (on my nipples and areolas) and crazy itchiness. My nipples didn't get super dark but they're HUGE! And did I mention itchy? Very itchy

@ThePax89 It was so early! I remember reading about colostrum being produced in the 2nd trimester for some moms and deciding to give it a shot.  I checked my pregnancy journal from last time when I saw this thread and saw that it was 21 weeks last time.  Now I'm going to be fixated on my nipples until I'm able to express colostrum lol

Add me to the list of dark/huge nips. No flaking or discharge as of now but def out of control in size and color.

No flaking or crusties as of yet, but holy random sensitivity! I'll just be sitting at my desk and all of a sudden the nips get super, super tingly - it's the weirdest thing. Also super huge and dark here, too. I've also noticed that I have my "high-beams" on much more frequently now than previously.

I've got some dry skin and they are huge but the same color they normally are.

Yep!  Dried yellow colostrum (that's at least what I assumed it was) and huge, dark nipples.  I looked in the mirror the other day and did a double take they were so huge and dark.

@nolemama24 Mine are so itchy as well, and in the last two weeks I have very obvious stretch marks! I didn't think I would start getting them this soon but mine have grown so much I shouldn't be surprised!

Mine have been so itchy and then I will randomly have burning nips. Like they hurt so bad it feels like they are really cold and frost bit or something. The nips are also a tad bigger and maybe a tad darker but I don't feel like I have had real noticeable changes.

I have the flakey nipples too and they were so itchy a few weeks ago.  I didn't leak and couldn't express any colostrum until I had my daughter last time.  Mine are also VERY dark and were last time too.

@ThePax89 mine got SO dark just a few weeks after I found out I was pregnant. I have seen the most change in my boobs, seriously!

@sarahmsoda I have stretchmarks and blue veins on my boobies as well. I feel so large and heavy up there.

I did get that last time but haven't this time; I'm only 15 weeks though!

So, so dark here too.  Also, I am very fair skinned and you could always seen my blue veins almost anywhere in my body, but that has gotten so much more prominent now too, which I didn't think was possible.  It looks so odd to have these super dark nips, super pale skin, and dark blue veins.  I must be a real vision

I'm just so perplexed by how sensitive they are to cold. Like if the temp changes like 10 degrees they ache so much. Forget grocery stores and freezer sections. I literally can't breathe.

I had crusty nipples but more in the 3rd tri. They were more like white plugs plugging the tiny holes. It's normal

Yeah @MrsRahl definitely deep in the nipple if that makes sense.

Mine have become very dry and flaky. I moisturize everyday and that doesn't seem to help, I guess I'm lucky since they don't itch along with the dryness.  As for the crust around the nipple, I remember having that after I had my son.

I just have to say, the name of this thread makes me very happy. No flaking yet here. Although they have been in crazy pain a couple times from getting cold.

No flaking here, but they sure are giant now.  Also, wearing an unlined bra is no longer an option unless I want to be poking out eyeballs all day.

I was just talking to one of my coworkers about this! she's due in October and said she felt like hers doubled in size over the weekend (not sure if they already had gotten bigger or not). My boobs in general have gotten bigger very fast, pretty sure I have stretch marks on them already and nipples are doing crazy things; I told her I feel like mine already have gotten huge and all that comes to mind when I think of them getting even bigger and darker is that recruiting scene from Pitch Perfect where not even Bologna Barb will join the Barton Bellas lol

@cjs260 my high beams are also on a lot, and DH gets paranoid when I leave the house like that, especially when I'm going to jazzercise or something!
