I had GD with my first baby. I thought it was the end of the world. Let me tell you it's not at all. I was lucky and was able to control my sugars by diet. If you do end up having GD, you can always feel free to talk to me. I had to take an early one hour and I failed it. I take the three hour on Tuesday. I LOVE the drink. Lemon-lime is my favorite. The three hour test is super boring, but it's not the end of the world.
I have a really dumb question... Last night, DH and I watched a new TV show and one of the characters was pregnant. In the show, her doctor recommended that she "stretch" her vagina by asking her husband to fist her to prepare for her vaginal delivery. My stupid question is this: Is this typical Hollywood BS, or an actual recommendation? Because the idea of this totally freaks me out.

As a STM it sounds like complete BS to me! My midwife has recommended perineal massage closer to the due date (esp because of possible scar tissue that I might have) but that sounds like typical Hollywood over dramatizing/sexualizing things IMO.
My original thought was that they must just be trying to go for a shock factor. But then my FTM curiosity got the best of me and I wondered if I was just super naive, so thanks for putting my mind at ease.
All I could think of, was how terribly WRONG this could go.
On the topic of pregnancy/nursing bras, by week 10 I had gone from a DD to a G. I went and bought a $60 bra at Dillard's because I was sick of wearing ones that don't fit. They seem to have stopped growing for now but I'm already to the point where I can't just go to Target and pick up some nursing bras. Does anyone have any recommendations for giant nursing bras that aren't crazy expensive. I have this irrational fear that my boobs will get so big once I'm nursing that I will never be able to find a bra.

Weird. Perineal massage is great. Your h can help. Take a vitamin e tablet and break it for live. Have your h press gently down from your vagina toward your anus to sort of stretch the tissue.

I literally choked on my water when I read that! What in the actual F? I'm pretty sure some asshole man wrote that line.
@JustAnotherUsername16 I've heard some women swear by the P massages. I've also looked into the research and turns out that it prevents tearing 5% of the time. Which doesnt mean it doesnt help of course! If you are going to do it you could also use Evening pPrimrose Oil. EPO is known to soften the cervix and can be taken orally starting at 37 weeks and vaginally at 39 weeks
@KellyT22 I was just thinking about this yesterday as I was folding my umpteenth load of laundry that day, how in the world am I going to keep up laundry with a family of 4?! Gahhh.
DS was born Aug 2015 too with this baby due Mar 10.. I know it's going to be a crazy whirlwind for a while but I am happy that they will be entering and exiting phases at relatively the same time. I'm glad they'll be close in age as we are only having 2.
@canadianinthesouth I am freaking out about the laundry increase with a new baby! Why does it take so long to put away laundry? Why does my husband wear so many pairs of socks? How many freaking towels do we own?!?
You STMs, what did you do about your hair down under once the bump got too big?
I wear contacts and am blind as a bat without them, so I use my razor by "feel" for the most part as is. For me, nothing really changed no matter how large the bump got.....
I guess this is actually a question for third time moms:
STM here, and at 16 weeks, I already look like I did at 7 months with my first! Does this mean us STMs will be triple the size we were with our first, or will we just be bigger for longer? Scared! Thanks!

Clippers all the way. It may not shave as close as a razor, but no way in hell was I going near my vag with a sharp razor when I couldn't see. There are some women that brave it out and go by feel, but I'm sure I'd slice my lady lips off if I did that. You could also ask your SO to do it if you're comfortable. I had my husband take the clippers to my goodies this past weekend and he actually got a kick out of it. I think a man would use any reason to be down there frankly. Doesn't take much coaxing.

I never had an issue with my first. I was also able to touch my toes, shave my legs, and put on shoes just fine- maybe a smaller than average bump or above average flexibility? But I never got the complaints I've heard from some about needing help with these things.

Your body is just better at getting to the size it needs to be because it's done it before.

I think it all evens out. You might get bigger than last time, you might not. In my three pregnancies, I have grown at all different speeds. My second pregnancy I was actually smaller and gained less than my first by the end, but I gained mostly in 2nd trimester. This pregnancy, I gained 8 pounds and looked like I did last time at 20 weeks by 12 weeks, but I haven't gained any weight since then, and my bump is about the same size now at almost 16 weeks, so the pacing is different. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Bump size is dependent on so many factors like baby's position and size, placenta, ab muscles, as well as random things we can't guess about. Just stay healthy and active and you'll be fine.
Being pregnant in the winter this time around definitely has its advantages and I don't think I care nearly as much. Last time around it was August and I was at the pool a lot. Shaving didn't seem to be an issue though, despite the 9 month bump...it was easier than one might think.
@Ivorytower2 I really think that every body is different. I got bigger quicker but not that quick! And I didn't triple the size. In fact, I gained less weight than I did with my first. But my belly was about the same size in the end. I'm sure you just started showing earlier this time around.
@Ivorytower2 In my experience, I grew much earlier with baby #3 and then plateaued. I gained the same amount for all three but I looked 5-7 months pregnant from 3 months on. I am hoping it is similar for baby #4 and so far I have looked very pregnant since being 2-3 months in.
STM wisdom/PSA: hospitals and doctors offices offer discounts on your medical bills depending on your income. some will give discounts up to 3-400% ABOVE poverty lines. So no matter how much $$ you make, you should really take a look at their cut offs. I just happened to stumble upon this with my DDs birth and we made the cut on our income by a hundred dollars for a family of three ((because once baby is here you count them)) and we got a 50% discount on all our bills!!!
I shaved right through my entire pregnancy for my DS and plan to do the same for this one. It's not that difficult even when you can't see, but I've been doing it for 17 years so maybe I'm just used to it lol. I knew other moms who took a tall mirror in the bathroom and sat on the side of the tub to do it using the mirror.
Random piece of advice: I know the concept sounds gross, but totally register for or purchase a Nosefrida. It works the best out of anything out there. It's way better than the stupid bulb thing.

YES! I thought it was the grossest thing before DS, but it was a lifesaver. I became desperate during his first cold.

totally agree about the Nosefrida! I have a hydrasense one but very similar.
Here's another piece of unsolicited advice.. if you have a boy always point their penis DOWN in the diaper. or else you'll have a wet top and a dry bottom! haha!

No fisting required, lol.
Nothing will prepare you for the massive increase in laundry you are about to experience.
You probably think this is complete bull. "How can a tiny person have that much laundry?" "Adding one person's laundry won't be a big deal!"
I'm here to tell you that what once a simple chore suddenly takes over your life. For that, I am sorry.
Sincerely,
Me
