@liss_37 My DS is 2 and a few months ago he started waking up wet and we couldn't figure out how/why because he sleeps in a diaper. We learned that he was putting his hand down his diaper in his sleep (or before he went to sleep) and when he'd take his hand out, it would point his penis up inside the diaper! We put him back in onesie pj's at night -- problem solved

  • @disneybaby84 I started getting waxed in my first pregnancy for this reason but like @kjd291 I had no visibility issues from the bump by the end of my pregnancy and could have easily stuck with shaving so that's what I'm doing this time.
  • I had no problem shaving up until the end last time, although it was a little uncomfortable. I also recommend a trimmer because it's easier to manage blind and my skin got very sensitive so shaving less surface area was very nice. But for some reason painting my toe nails was really hard!
  • I was excited but super apprehensive with my daughter

I am super excited about my son! I know two under two you will be rough but I am ready

totally agree about the Nosefrida! I have a hydrasense one but very similar.

Here's another piece of unsolicited advice.. if you have a boy always point their penis DOWN in the diaper. or else you'll have a wet top and a dry bottom! haha!

As a tech in my son's ortho office always said, "holster that gun!"

  • Here's a few Q's for the STM from a FTM
    1) When do you start searching for a pediatrician?
    2) Is waxing okay if I've never been waxed before, or is that something I would have had to start before pregnancy?
    3) Does 'quickening' happen sporadically? I ask because I felt like I was feeling it for a while, but it's been a long time since I've felt any fluttering...
  • 1) I'm no help here, military family
    2) You can wax but your skin might be more sensitive and react differently than it would were you not pregnant
    3) It's normal to go a while at this stage between feelings. Baby is still small and might have moved into a different position. Some people don't feel any movement until like 25 weeks and I don't think Drs want you "counting kicks" or monitoring movement until like 28 weeks or something :)

  • As for pediatricians you can totally start looking. For peace of mind I'd have one picked out well before the due dare. Offices will often make almost like new patient appts for expecting moms to come in and ask questions. I think I did this about 7 months last time, by i really can't remember.

I used the clippers down south. With our first 2 I had no problem shaving my legs but under the bump I just don'tuse a razor. Hubby helped out towards the end. And I'm glad we did use the clippers. When we got to the hospital for our c-sections the nurse wanted to shave me but she didn't have to because we had already gotten it done.

the second time around I was bigger sooner. This time around at 15wks I am looking like I did nearing the end. This will be a very interesting journey.
  • @jomarma you'll want to start looking in the next couple of months. My ped had me come in to chat and ask any questions I had while I was pregnant.

I don't know how other ped's work, but mine is right by the hospital where I gave/and am giving birth and they told me to just tell the nurses who my ped is. They send someone from the practice (someone from my ped office comes by the hospital every morning) and they were the ones who checked out my LO and signed the forms to release her.

  • Has anyone told their employers yet?  I'm 17weeks and getting to the point where I have to tell or my belly will give me away...I'm in between roles at the moment and my boss will be changing, about 2 weeks, the date isn't solidified, not even sure who to inform here...its just fantastic.
  • @toconnor12 I told my employers a month or two ago, but we're a pretty close knit group and I wanted them to know why I was working from home sometimes. They've been nothing but supportive, thankfully. They also gave me the name of our HR rep who helps with questions about STD and such.

  • I told my law partners and staff at about 13 weeks @toconnor12, because I needed them to start being involved and know what's going on in cases so that when I'm out for maternity leave, it's a decent transition.

Do you know who your new boss is going to be?  Maybe tell your new boss and your old boss?

  • Well, I told my current boss today.
My new boss will be in town next week & I'll tell him at that point in time.

I was going to wait until Friday but poor decision after poor decision has been made by management, and that equates to an 9am-9pm workday.  I've had it.  The exhaustion and stress is not healthy.  So, to ensure there's a smooth transition it was time to let everyone know.  Not quite the transition of a lawyer, but, it will take time.

Thank you for the advice  :)
  • Transitions are hard no matter what @toconnor12!!  Hopefully your new boss can help implement some good decisions so you're not having to work 9 am to 9 pm.

My ped was not one with privileges at the hospital. It was nbd. A ped on staff checked out my son and we went to our ped the next morning (my son was pretty jaundiced and sleepy but they decided he didnt need the bill lights, hence the quick appt)

  • OMG lololol its so funny you ask because I used to giggle with my girlfriends about it.

I basically turned myseld into a human pretzel trying to get to all the appropriate areas. Oh!- and get a handheld or sticky mirror for inside of the shower. Takes the guess work out!

  • Girl I am with you!

I am as big as I was at 7 months as well. And putting on weight....just looking at food I gain a pound
