We wanted to go with something subtle. I LOVE avocados, so when I saw a cartoon-ish picture similar to this, I knew it was the one - or would be with a few tweaks. My friend is wonderfully creative and painted this for us! I sent this to our parents a couple days after we found out (5.5 weeks) and the family and friends we are closest to a few days later. Most of our family, friends, and close acquaintances know we're expecting now, but I am waiting until I feel better before I make it FB official. I'm 11.5 weeks now. It was interesting to see who understood that this was a pregnancy announcement right away. The people who didn't get it were surprisingly not weirded out by me sending them an avocado picture!
Tonight I took DS to take pictures with my sisters kids. This isn't an announcement photo, as my whole family knows already. But we always do a "grandkids" photo for my moms bday and I had to sneak the newest grandkid in the picture somehow.
I wasn't emotional at all during the photo session, but on the way home I was looking at the picture and a few tears were shed. Damn hormones!
I love all these announcement stories! So, We had a hard time getting to the BFP but are finally there & with twins! In February I had a BFP after IVF and kept my immediate family and my DH's abreast of the whole thing. Problem with that was I had to then inform everyone about our miscarriage at 6 weeks. I said if we did this again, they would know when my DH and I were sure.
Got my next BFP and I waited until 8 weeks to tell my parents. I had a great U/S and the next day was my dad's bday so I hid the picture in his birthday card. The best was when I told him to look closely and he goes "Ya, I have no idea what I'm looking at." I go over and say "there's one.." and he finishes "and there's the other!" My mom scream/cries "Twins?!" Haha.
I was going to wait to tell the rest of my family until I got through the 1st trimester but my grandmother fell ill and was in the ICU last week. I asked her "Want some good news?" Of course. "You're going to be a great-grandmother." She stares at me and says "I didn't hear a word you said." We lose it! I repeat it and she was over the moon. She told every nurse (and anyone who'd listen) that she was expecting. They said it explained why she was there! It was a great day.. Unfortunately we lost her just 2 days later but I have no regrets! I'm glad I told her and the rest of the family. It will forever be the best memory.

Also, we plan to announce publicly after my next U/S (14 weeks.) We plan to use our dogs (pug and boston terrier.) Something like having them sitting with two baby dolls saying "Future Babysitters, so far, so good" and the second photo will have them "playing" with the dolls with the caption "Don't worry, we have until April 2017 to train them"

So, yesterday (at 11 weeks) we announced to everyone. It was DD's 3rd birthday and we gave my mom the ultrasound for her birthday (same birthday as DD) before the party. So, my family knew then. They were all very happy and supportive and excited. And then DD opened a gift from us with a big sister book and this sister shirt. All my friends that we there got it right away and were very happy. The in-laws were super slow to comprehend everything and then never said congrats or anything. They just stayed in a dumb stupor. Oh well. I really only cared what my family thought.
And then today we took this picture in our apartment building (an old schoolhouse). I wore that shirt to church, on a dare from DH. And then after church I posted this on Facebook. So, we are official now.
We did our first round of Donor Egg IVF in january and by the time we actually did it most of our immediate family knew we were doing it. I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian failure in 2015 at 26 so I've made it a point to be super open an drew honest abou infertility and IVF. Our dog comes with us a lot of places so putting this bandana on him and bringing him to our family after our first ultrasound was obviously the right choice for us and all of our family is so excited. We are 11 weeks 1 day pregnant today!
@fpancone your dog is the cutest!! I wish I could incorporate my pets into my announcement, but we are a cat household and sadly cats do not cooperate nearly as well as dogs when it comes to picture taking
We sent this to our families then my BIL decided to post it on facebook even though we hadn't wanted to post anything yet. So I shared it and said "well the cats out of the bag and it is true. In April we meet baby #2!" Lol
@sbellefeuille My dad did that with my previous pregnancy, and then I miscarried the next day. This time around, I made it VERY clear that my news was NOT for sharing.
We made it fb official today at 13 weeks. Here is our announcement(sorry if it's huge) the top one is from baby 1 in 2012. The bottom is for baby 2 now.
Ok, first time trying to attach a photo, fingers crossed it works! Here's one of the pics I used in a photo card to send to my out of town family. I love DS's face!
Love all the cute ideas! We went with a onesie announcement for Facebook at 12 weeks, but we had already told our immediate family and close friends via phone (we live far away) after our viability scan at 7+3. My husband also posted a picture wearing a "Be nice to me my wife is pregnant" shirt on Instagram the same time I posted our 'official; announcement photo.
@dax28, that is adorable! I was planning to do something with pumpkins when we announce on facebook at the end of October but hadn't figured out exactly what. This gives me an idea to help jump start the thinking!
Decided I'm getting my youngest this onsie and when we have our family birthday party at the end of the month he can ware it and we'll see how long it takes for people to catch on . It will my my youngest 1st birthday
It was fun to make and my family loved it. I used chalk pencils (did not know that was a thing) I already had the chalkboard and some plastic alphabet temples which I found in my crafting closet.
Trying to decide between these two to share on Monday for our photo announcement to coworkers and friends. What do you all think? White or burlap background?

@Dax28
OMG this is the cutest thing ever!!! We announced it already but I may have to steal this anyway when we decorate for fall
It was fun to make and my family loved it. I used chalk pencils (did not know that was a thing) I already had the chalkboard and some plastic alphabet temples which I found in my crafting closet.
The first one was for my co-workers, the second was for my family & friends
