Ok. Obviously us pregnant ladies boobs grow during pregnancy. Mine have grown plenty. When during the pregnancy do boobs reach their final size? Another words, I don't want to buy a bra and then the next week, buy the next size up. I'm trying to figure out when it's safe to buy bras for my new size.
They will just keep changing, and changing, and then you give birth and they explode to sizes you didn't know existed, and then they go down a bit but still change. Not a helpful answer... Hahah. I'd reccomend buying some cheap bras for your current size. I went to target and grabbed two larger bras on sale with my first pregnancy that were life savers ((also found bigger band size helped)) Baby starts to crowd up and made ribs expand. I used them for 3-4mo with last pregnancy--and haven't used them since because this pregnancy my boobs haven't grown the same way. So, again, id say just grab one or two cheap ones for your current size cuz it'll mostlikely change again (and again)
Honestly, does the fatigue ever end?! I'm currently 15w+2 and I can hardly work. Even with my one cup of coffee I have nothing extra in me (I've been up for 2.5 hours and I could already be dead asleep right now if I was allowed).
I am having my thyroid levels checked on Wednesday which may explain this too...
@mrsyimster I'm a FTM but I've had this test done before. You're supposed to fast overnight, get a blood draw, drink 8oz (?) or so of a sugary glucose drink, and then they draw blood every hour for x amount of hours to see how your body responds. It's not particularly scary, it's just annoying and inconvenient. Plus who wants to be fasting while they're preggers??
@mrsyimster you will eat normal before you take the test. Third time mom here so I've done it twice now. I didn't think it was that bad. My only suggestion is to drink it fast and it's so much better if its cold! Other moms absolutely hate the test though.
@mrsyimster The post above is describing the 3 hour glucose test (that's when you fail the 1 hour). You have to drink a sugary drink in about 5 minutes and then after an hour get your blood drawn. It tasted like flat orange soda to me. The worst part is the waiting an hour because you cant leave the office while you wait. You dont have to fast but I wouldn't eat a ton of sugar or carbohydrate before hand....just what you normally eat. If you do the 3 hour test you have to eat a high carb diet for 3 days before the test.
when I had it, the drink tasted like orange soda. it wasn't too bad but very sweet. the faster you drink it the better. mine was an hour long. you drink the drink, then they wait an hour and they take your blood
@Spartanrd4 thank you for clarifying! They had me do that test when I was 17 because I had some fainting spells. It was a total joy. I'm glad to expect only 1 hour this time though!!

Yes and no. You will hopefully feel more "energized"soon, but truthfully ... tired may become your new normal. At least for the next few years or so. Don't worry though, as with the rest, its all worth it.
no wonder the doc office was telling me I can go to their spa office next door to get a massage while I wait for my blood drawn, when the time comes! I was so confused..
1 hr GTT no big deal IMO. 1 hr kid free time haha. This is what my life has come to.
You will never feel rested the same way aging. There is a constant feeling exhaustion with parenthood, but I honestly feel less tired with a newborn and not pregnant. Probably because I'm on mat leave and not doing shift work.
agree with @Spartanrd4...I always request the lemon-lime flavor is possible, I've had this done so many times, the 1 hour, 3 hour, etc, last pregnancy I had to repeat, because of my vomiting, I couldn't keep the drink down long enough, definitely drink it quick, quick sips, faster the better!

My lab is in my doctor's office so they let me drink the drink (had to drink it in 10 minutes? I found it easiest to chug it) and then have my regular prenatal appointment, and then go back to have my blood drawn. The 3 hour test was less fun with the fasting and extra blood draws, but still not the end of the world.

If buy now and again in third tri for nursing. Look for ones with no wire. When you buy in third tri remember that Your boobs will grow again: Your boobs will get HUGE a few days after birth and if you keep nursing they stay that way, lol. (though for me they really got rounder more than bigger, if that makes sense) I think the hardest part for me was that I gained weight on my rib cage, so my bras got tight in the band in third tri.
Buy a band extender for your bra! It was a lifesaver for me. If you are like me and @longliveregina, you may want some underwire nursing bras. Non underwire bras just don't really come in an H lol. I bought regular bras from Nordstrom and they will alter them into nursing bras by putting clips on them. Total lifesaver for if/when you go back to work and need to have "normal" looking boobs.
Glucose test in the blood lab where I am you have to fast over night. No one told me the first time and they made me go back in another day.. which sucked. The drink needs to be finished within 5 minutes or they will ask you to come back another day to try again. I agree the lemon lime flavour is better than the orange but they're both ok. Blood drawn after 1 hour, if failed then back to try again, blood drawn after one hour and again at hour 2. I'm asking for a 2 hour right off the bat. (2 hours to sit quietly reading my book while DD is home with her dad.. I'll take it!!)
Bras.... Everyone is different but I found once you hit second tri, breast size stays pretty well the same but end of second tri/beginning of first tri my rib cage expanded A LOT. I couldn't breathe wearing anything tight around my chest, I loved having sports bras without a super tight band. Once baby is born... Like mentioned, your boobs might blow right up.. again I loved my sports bras for the first few months.

Umm where is your doctors office, because I'm moving there. A spa and massage while waiting?? Yes please!!
There are actually 3 different glucose tests - 1 hr, and if you fail it 3 hr, or a 2hr. My OB does a 2hr test so you don't have to repeat it. You get one shot to pass. It's really not that bad, especially if the liquid is cold.

I could not take the wire when I was so engorged at first. You can find some pretty comfy nursing bras with only a wire in the side under the arms, and I still had to cut it out, lol.
Eta also look into nursing sleep bras!!! So comfy.......
Alos, you actually do not have to drink the orange drink they provide you. Make sure you check with your doc. first, but any type of fruit juice that has 50 g of sugar in it will work. I will be doing that this time.....so like 16 oz of orange juice or something similar. I just think that the orange soda crap they give you is awful.

Interesting! It doesn't have to be a controlled amount? Honestly I will just drink the stuff because it wasn't too bad to me, but that would be cool if it was an option.

Depending on your doctor office, there are alternatives to the orange drink... like drinking fruit juice or eating a certain kind of breakfast. I am personally opting out of glucose test if I can't do an alternative. The stuff they make you drink is 100% produced in a lab so is completely artificial, which concerns me. I'm also on a sugar free diet so I don't know how my body would react if I put that much "sugar" into it that fast (artificial sugar nonetheless.)

You're going to feel like crap regardless of what the source of sugar is. Are you prepared to go on the GD diet by refusing the test?

Yeah basically when I failed the 1 hour test (i thought the results were skewed) and they wanted me to go straight to the 3 hour with the 3 day high carb diet and I said no they said then I will be diagnosed with GD and go on for further treatment. Stupid nurse said this...then my OB said I could just repeat the 1 hour and I passed...because she actually has a brain. So I wouldn't refuse the test if I was you @dizzymom its not really an option and Will just give you more trouble in the long run.
On the topic of pregnancy/nursing bras, by week 10 I had gone from a DD to a G. I went and bought a $60 bra at Dillard's because I was sick of wearing ones that don't fit. They seem to have stopped growing for now but I'm already to the point where I can't just go to Target and pick up some nursing bras. Does anyone have any recommendations for giant nursing bras that aren't crazy expensive. I have this irrational fear that my boobs will get so big once I'm nursing that I will never be able to find a bra.
I thought the GD test drink was DELICIOUS! (I had the fruit punch flavor)
I've always had the orange and didn't mind it. Last time was hard because I'm hypoglycemic, they had me fast, then chug all that sugar so quickly. I had a headache and was nauseated the rest of the day.
@DrillSergeantCat- I pretty much already follow the diet they would want me on. In an effort to protect my baby and body, I would absolutely be willing to tweak my diet further.
@Spartanrd4- I have Chronic Lyme disease, which is the reason I can't have sugar. If I eat sugar (especially artificial) I risk relapsing and becoming very ill. For me, personally, it just isn't worth the risk for the baby. I didn't make this decision hastily. I did a lot of research and the risks of the Lyme disease, in my opinion, are greater than GD.
