  • Everyone asks when I'm due and when I tell them they say, "Wow, you've got a long ways to go." I guess it depends on how you look at it. It's the end of September so I basically have October and November and then the scheduled C on Dec. 1. So I feel like it's really not that far away.
  • I'm still in denial....

We're already packing hospital bags and washing baby clothes?!!
  • @karmba At this very moment I'm feeling rhythmic twitches on both sides of my hip bones. I'm imagining tiny baby fists balled up and pounding on my uterus to get out.

Seeing the 12 more Sundays until Christmas thing on FB and realizing I'll have a 2-ish week old by then! Now I feel like I need to get things NOW, but am still trying to hold out until after my showers (mid October and first of November). I have gotten a couple personal items for me though now..nursing tanks mostly.
WAT. Shiz just got real for me. Just now. With that.
Yup...this thread just made it real for me too....

  • I think hitting 27 weeks on the 21st and realizing that I was exactly 3 months from my due date made me realize this boy will be here before we know it.

I don't think it's totally hit Dh yet. However we were talking about Thanksgiving yesterday with MIL and I said I wasn't allowed to travel after that and Dh was like really? His birthday is 5 days after thanksgiving so I think that hit him.

Also realizing that I have a basket of baby laundry to do was a little scary!

  • Bought a 100-pack of iron pills a few weeks back and realized I wouldn't go through them all before baby comes. That was the first inkling of realness.

We have almost nothing for the baby yet bc we're moving (if the bank decides to let us have a roof over our heads), but I did get a pack n play at a great price last weekend at a consignment sale. So now I feel like, well I have something for him to sleep in, I can handle it if he comes early.
  • As a FTM... is it bad that I haven't had these feelings yet? I think I am more anxious at what we haven't done that is freaking me out - do anything for this babies room. So far, my OB hasn't had any concerns (besides some weight gain) so I am guessing things are all normal until I hear otherwise.

But, ask me again in another month and I'll probably have a different answer/thought process on this whole thing.

I'm right there with you!  I hope we can start prepping the nursery for painting this weekend, but I'm undecided on a theme, so there's that. We are having two showers (mid-October and early November) but with my EDD of 12/6, I'm worried about being situated before baby girl makes her debut!  Couple this with the craziness that is work from now until I go out in leave, I'm beyond stressed out!  Hang in there...it will all fall into place (at least that's what I'm banking on  :D )
  • @Kacie209 I'm a FTM too and I would say I've realized shits getting real but nothing at all has really set in. 11 weeks to me still seems like a ways.

  • 10 weeks to go still feels like it's gonna be forever before baby boy comes but when I say we really need to have the car seat by 34 weeks just in case he comes early it gets real. That means that 4 weeks from now we need the seat ready to go just in case. 4 weeks is soon.
  • @AMack1216 - we just found out that there is a recall on the back seat belts in DHs car.  Of course we wouldn't typically be worried about that (we almost never use the back seat) but now we have to get that taken care of ASAP so that we can safely install the car seat.

That's where we're at too... nothing has been done with the babies room. We do have a theme, but until I at least get a crib/dresser in there and know where a couple other things are going - decor will have to wait. However, I also have a couple showers coming up too, and know once we start getting stuff, and then buying other things we think we may need right away - that is when it may settle in that the shiz is getting real. Maybe. Hopefully.

I just want to be more situated by November, as DH is gone 10-11 days for hunting and would rather be doing little things here and there in his absence, etc.

I am sure it will be fine, but feel like we should be more prepared at this point, ha.

  • Speaking about being prepared (or not)... we finally booked a painter for Friday! Looks like we'll be setting up the nursery (at least a good part of it) this weekend! SUPER excited. Now it might feel more real.
  • Has anyone started a hospital bag thread yet?!? ( I can't quite figure out the search function....)

  • Aaaand my doctor just told me that the baby is breech.  She said they don't usually worry until 36 weeks, but you bet I'm all up in the spinning babies website trying to figure out how to get him to turn.
  • @Toller if there isn't already a thread, I think that's a great idea to start one. I've been thinking about getting my bag together soon, some ideas on what other people are packing would be awesome!
  • @lisa3379 and @Toller I agree on the hospital bag thread! I just started my list and am curious what everyone is taking and STM advice.
  • @dmontgo Ha! Yes! Slightly chubby with a food baby is exactly how I feel always.

  • Yes! this is exactly how I feel!  I think the combination of being Team Green (for the first time after knowing what I was having for my other 2) and having no names for this baby- is making it harder to bond. But I know after he/she is born the bonding will happen!

My shiz just got real- when we were pulling all of the baby clothes out of the attic (both boy and girl) reorganizing  it in boy/girl bins and realizing that I need to figure out the nursery situation. It's still my guest bedroom complete with queen sized bed and a really ugly dresser which we need to rid ourselves of--- and we only have 10 more weeks to get it done.

I have no car seat, my crib isn't put together- essentially we've done nothing.  Oh and did I mention my DH is out of town again this week- so I'm not getting anything done on that room. I'm already feeling the stress!!!

  • I think shit just got real for my boss. I called a meeting with him to discuss leave prep and transition. We still have an open position on our team (open since May, finally interviewing this week). Assumed start date for said new person would be 10/17. That leaves 5 ½ weeks for me to on train and transition workload. I reminded him again that I'm only in the office until the Wednesday of thanksgiving week. After that, baby watch is happening from home. He left the meeting overwhelmed to say the least.
  • @KateH1216 I'm in a similar boat to you- but it was my boss who made shit feel real for me. We have three open positions on my team, so they are getting a head start on hiring a temp for my role. Yesterday in a meeting discussing an event we have on October 6th, my boss said that we needed to make a contact list of vendors so more people would have it other than me. ***Just in case my baby decided to come early***
Totally freaked me out! Not in any way ready for this baby to come next week! Made me realize that I should probably get on top of this car seat thing. And a crib. And so many other things... ahh!
  • @andra81410 yeah, not cool boss!  I'm mentally prepared for +/- 2 weeks from my EDD. But in no way am I ready for 10 weeks!  My first shower isn't even until 10/16!

I anticipate purchasing the car seat in the next few weeks. And I have a rock n play, so worst case baby girl has a place to lay her head if she graces us with her presence before there's any other furniture for her!
  • @dmontgo How lucky and awesome for you that she did that! That would ease a lot of my fears too. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday that has two kids, and hearing about both of her labor experiences made me feel better, too.
  • My original due date was 12/25. I have a seizure disorder so this whole experience has been shall we say....eventful. I went in yesterday for a US to make sure baby is growing correctly and the OB says "well he's measuring at 30 weeks and you're only 27? I think we need to look at moving your due date." The c-section is scheduled for 12/19 at this point but I could have a new arrival at the beginning of Dec. and not Christmas......and I have nothing, nothing ready for this child. The kids' room still needs drywall as in nothing. So I'm doing the budget and counting the paydays until he gets here and I'm loosing my shit at this point. I have a month until my shower which I'm hoping we get most of the stuff we need, if not can you say SCREWED with a big F in front. To say any of this has gone as planned would be the lie of the century.
  • @Lisa3379 It was honestly a stroke of luck because she wasn't supposed to be induced until October. We had been having a normal conversation and then she was like, "WELL looks like I'm getting induced today!" Her baby stopped growing so the doctor felt there was no point of her staying in. Baby is fine though!

I'm glad she was willing to share with me, even the gross stuff. She told me not to be embarrassed during labor because she farted  quite loudly multiple times while pushing. She said she only remembered because her DH brought it up afterwards lol. The miracle of birth...
  • @Diamond0323 my shower is also in a month. I have some clothes and blankets for the baby. That it.

SHIZ got REAL today when my Ob called and we scheduled my RCS for December 7th!!! Only 3 days before my due date. My child is going to be like 10lbs by then...

  • @Diamond0323 I'm in the same boat (I've shared on a few different threads).  My EDD is 12/6, but have been measuring approximately 7-10 days ahead the entire pregnancy.  We have yet to start the nursery (I have yet to decide on bedding/theme/etc).  I am fortunate to have two showers being thrown for baby girl - one on 10/16 and the other on 11/12.  Can you say panic?!  I haven't even purchased the car seat yet!!!

All of this is said in solidarity.  As long as we can get them home safe (I should really order that car seat soon!) and they have a handful of basics, we will all survive.  It may not be pretty, but we will all survive.  Good luck momma!
