I was actually feeling pretty good today, but about an hour ago I started developing a sore throat and ringing ears. I really, really hope it goes away. I had strep twice while I was pregnant with DD and it majorly sucks.
Starting this because I had to go home from work to lay down and wait it out and I'm starting to join the land of the living again (this is so much TMI but I don't even care, sorry guys)
I had a killer stomach ache yesterday, the kind that would be accompanied by diarrhea for sure in a normal day. Except the progesterone and Zofran in my system + my organs being all smashed up has me so constipated still. So today my body finally tried to get rid of whatever it was that made me ill, but it took about 4 excruciating hours to move through my sluggish system and I've been a sweating, whimpering mess of constipation AND diarrhea pains.
Now I'm pretty dehydrated and having Braxton hicks and sort of wishing I was farther along because I'm really bad at being pregnant and I'd really like to meet these girls before this pregnancy kills me /overdramatics
This week wifey is 23 weeks, has not had any morning sickness since the beginning of the 2nd trimester, today she had her usual breakfast (oatmeal, banana and left over zeppole from street fair(added bonus)) and a few minutes later she felt completely nauseous and it all came up. Freaked her out a little bit. Made a post about it this morning, guess its normal lol.
... I know i'm posting everywhere.... sorry for that. John
I'm overheated and allergies are the worst. I'm a constant faucet of yellow, bloody mucous. Because bloody noses are a normal thing apparently. I'm getting these nasty sinus headaches and nothing is helping.
@TinaBelcher I feel for you. My husband brought home a stomach bug last week and my baby conveniently woke up to kick me in the cervix and colon anytime I had to run to the bathroom. I love her, but she's kinda rude.
@johnnydro - I never call people out on this board but I just have to say this - I'm less bothered by your posting the same question in three different threads than I am by the fact that you almost never participate outside of asking a question about your wife or coming to ask for support on the weekly PGAL thread when she has a big appointment coming up. I even tagged you on a post recently when someone asked about swollen kidneys so you could offer her the same support given to you after your anatomy scan and you didn't even participate there.
To to answer your question - it sounds perfectly fine to me especially since it seems like she only got sick once. My best guess is she probably got an upset stomach from reheated street food they don't have the same ability to keep food as fresh and maintained as a restaurant - if you are really as concerned as you seem to be please have your wife call her doctor.
Wtf. I'm so sick of being nauseous. The more he moves, the more nauseous it makes me. Granted I'm nauseous in general, but his movements aren't helping me. I'm still thankful to feel him move though.
I just got home from work and my feet are slightly swollen. That's the first time for me this pregnancy.
I had some breast pain over the weekend. I applied a warm towel as a compress. Now it's leaky boob city over here. I'm still really excited about the possibility of breastfeeding though. Man. Pregnancy is weird.
My stomach goes through these daily bouts of feeling super tight and it usually takes a couple hours until it's not uncomfortable. It's like everything just can't fit in there any more and needs to stretch. I'm not really sure it's even eating related. Also just generally feeling tired and back pain. I had to have DH tie my shoes this morning because bending over is getting hard. Ugh.
@TinaBelcher that sounds terrible. Hopefully your system sorts itself out soon. For what it's worth, I'm so much worse at being pregnant this time around than I was with my singleton. Twin pregnancy is harder than I imagined.
@christac1010 Lol pregnancy is super weird. Hopefully your breast pain has gone away! Also, I am so sorry you're still feeling nauseated.
@TinaBelcher I'm so sorry you had to go through that. And 4 hours of it too. Hope you don't have to go through that again!
@emy730 ugh sore throats sucks even when you're not pregnant. I usually go with tea with honey. Love it with lemon. There's some good decaffeinated teas out there. Helps settle my stomach too. Maybe that would help you as well @TinaBelcher? I haven't had as many stomach problems since I switched to drinking tea and quit carbonated drinks like sparkling water or my favorite, blood orange Italian soda.
I've been feeling pretty good except for some awful pelvic pressure. I had a drs appt today and brought it up, I've felt it since last thursday, it usually occurs when I stand, when I'm walking and when I'm sleeping. She said it wasn't anything to worry about, that it was just ligament pains and my muscles being pushed outward. I'm also 23 weeks but measuring at 24 so that's probably what's making the pressure so noticeable - I seriously felt like my baby was sitting at my pelvic opening ready to plop out.
I feel you on the stomach stretching. Lately it feels like my torso is not big enough for this baby and my stomach all at once. I always feel so big and full yet Im hungry at the same time! So uncomfortable. ....
@HJMorgan speaking of feeling big and full and hungry, I was really looking forward to a Thanksgiving and Christmas feast. Now I don't know if I'll be able to manage one plate.
@emy730 I'm also a fan of tea with honey for sore throats, and sometimes just warm water with lemon and honey (+ some ginger if I have it). But if it's really bad I've found that a shot of apple cider vinegar helps a lot. For congestion or coughs I've also added a little cayenne and honey to the ACV and it makes a big difference pretty quickly.
@tinabelcher I'm sorry, that sounds brutal. Hopefully you get through the worst of it today.
I've been having some stomach pain / cramps in my lower abdomen on and off for about a week. Went in to get checked out by my MW on Thursday and was relieved to confirm that my cervix was long and fully closed. She also took cultures to test for infections (negative) and fetal fibronectin, which can be an indicator that labor might start within the next week or 2. Had to redo that test today because the sample was tainted. Still waiting for results, but anyway now I'm starting to think it might have just been gas pains all along. The MW on call over the weekend suggested it could be gas and to try some stuff to alleviate that. I drank some fennel tea the other night and haven't had any cramps since.
Welp, chilling in triage waiting for IV bag #1 to finish so they can set up bag #2. I ended up having like 20 BH contractions in an hour so OB sent me up here. Turns out they weren't really BH?! Contracting every 2-3 minutes, really don't hurt, just uncomfortable. Cervix is still high and tight (holy shit did that check hurt) so they're just hydrating me and hoping that makes it stop.
H was supposed to leave for NYC in the morning and now he says he's canceling and I feel so bad
@KRB22 I've been having some weird cramping too, but I'm sure it's a mix of gas and Braxton hicks. I don't know what to do to soothe it unfortunately so I hope it stops soon or else I'm gonna call my OB.

@AshleySparkle720 it sounds like this is a pretty common complaint this week. I think BH can be worse if you're dehydrated, so maybe try drinking some more water? For the gas, my MW suggested GasX, papaya enzyme or fennel tea. I went with the tea and I'm pretty sure it helped. She also said the pain could be round ligament pain (less likely at this stage), or a pulled muscle. And she told me cramps like that can just be my body's way of telling me to slow down, so I've been trying harder to not overdo it the past few days.
I will say if the cramping feels like menstrual cramps it probably warrants a call to your OB just to confirm its not real contractions.
@TinaBelcher I'm sorry you're going through that, but glad you went in and are getting taken care of now! Also glad you aren't dilating at all!
@TinaBelcher thinking of you! I had a similar experience with my first pregnancy, albeit I was farther along (31 weeks). I went in for a NST due to not feeling baby move all day and starting contracting every 2-3 minutes. Like you nothing painful, almost more diarrhea crampy period pressure feeling so I was surprised when they said it was contractions. I got IV fluids, steroid shots for baby's lungs, and an injection (some sort of calcium channel blocker to relax the uterine muscles) and they subsided over night and I was able to go home and had no further issues. I hope you have an easy and similar outcome!!!
@TinaBelcher don't feel bad! You are just doing the best you can to take care of yourself and babies! @KAShock that sounds scary! Glad you went to doc promptly.
My weird symptom has been waking up suddenly in the middle of the night having to pee. I think I'm dreaming and have to pee in my dream and then wake with a start thinking omg, did I just pee in my sleep?! Luckily I haven't (or if so, nothing noticeable) but it's happened a couple times now and it's starting to make me nervous that I just might! WTF, please tell me I'm not the only one..
@TinaBelcher Wow, that's scary! Thinking of you and your little ones - hoping the contractions are stopped by the fluids.
I'm not sure if this is a symptom, but I feel like a heavy breather lately. It's weird because my bump isn't that big yet, so don't feel like that SHOULD be the cause. Other than that, I've got hardly any symptoms - I'm even mostly sleeping through the night. Is it weird that this makes me worry? Lol
@TinaBelcher Goodness! Glad your cervix is doing its job! I hope everything gets better with your fluids and rest. Let us know how it goes!! Thinking of you!
@TinaBelcher Yiiiikes. Hope your little ones are doing okay and the contractions cool down.
To everyone with sore throats, I know this sounds super gross, but I swear: a clove of raw garlic in tea with honey The allicin is a natural antibiotic and antiviral compound.
I'm on day 4 (I think?) of upping my iron, both with meat and better prenatal, and think I'm finally starting to feel less exhausted. Also starting to commiserate with people that have larger breasts. I think the largest I've ever been is D-cups and I never really understood the whole thing about wanting to take your bra off the second you got home... but now I'm in the DD-zone and it makes so much sense. That, and I used to sleep in bras and now I can't even manage with a wireless nursing bra... things get all itchy and awful and yuck.
Thanks guys! They almost admitted me because I have some sort of infection- my white blood cell count is high and the moment I got more hydrated I got sicker again- but nothing was crazy and I was able to keep juice and crackers down so I just got home. About to crash and burn but wanted to update you that all is well! They rechecked my cervix 5 hours later and there was no change, even though I'm still contracting very sporadically.
Taking it easy for the rest is the week and it looks like H is skipping the work trip (damn- that's the worst part. I appreciate him being home because everything is scary but he needs to shoot this doc!)
@TinaBelcher thinking of you! I know it sucks H had to miss his trip, but let him wait on you hand and foot while you're recovering--he doesn't want to see you go through this and he wants to makes sure you and those babies are okay. Your body is going through a lot. Glad you trusted your instincts and went in!
@TinaBelcher - So glad you are home and the girls are safe! Your cervix deserves 6 high fives for holding down the fort through all of that! Fx that doesn't happen again until the girls are ready to come out!
@TinaBelcher So glad they were able to take care of you and you were able to go home. And congrats to your cervix for holding it down through it all. Take care of yourself and keep those kiddos cooking. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!
@ceclarlinetlo I'm sorry for not participating in the forums. This is my wife's and I first viable pregnancy having lost 3 prior. I am not very knowledgeable about these things. I will respond to the post you tagged me in with my Wife and i's experience so far but again I come here to ask questions because I genuinely have no clue what anything is. I will try to be more active on the forums.
@TinaBelcher Oh man, that's scary, but I'm glad they were able to get you fixed up. And yes, cervical checks SUCK. It literally feels like you're being fisted, which I guess you kind of are? Glad your home now. Relax and take it easy!
@TinaBelcher Hope you're feeling better today and no more contractions! Glad your cervix is cooperating and those girls are nice and safe in there. It sucks that your DH had to cancel his trip, but I know if I was him I'd be worried and do the same thing. Hope today is uneventful!
@johnnydro - I really appreciate your response - and I am very sorry for your losses. As you know from reading the PGAL threads there are several of us here who are experiencing their first viable pregnancy after multiple losses (myself included) so we totally understand your nerves and anxiety. You said you are newer to participating in a forum like this one so the best advice I can give you is that you get what you put into this forum, so the more you participate the better the experience you will have over all. A common saying around here is "give support to get support" It doesn't mean you have to post on every thread or have a "correct" answer to someone's problem. It just means you share your experiences when they are applicable and offer kind thoughts or encouragement when appropriate.
@TinaBelcher I am so happy you are home! I hope you are comfortable and enjoying your rest. Thinking of you!
I second the ladies earlier in this thread who are feeling so "stuffed." I am in that boat too. Sometimes it is getting hard to breathe in deeply. And I will get a weird cramp here and there if baby is sitting in a position for too long, luckily I can stretch out my belly some to get it to go away. This past week for me I have noticed that I am not sleeping that well... Like my body feels comfy however I feel as if my brain is "awake." I just don't feel very rested, it's like I am thinking throughout the night. Also, all you ladies that suggested bran & Activia last week, THANK YOU. I am still very constipated and it is still a lot of work, but I have noticed it made it a little easier.

It hurts to sit. It hurts to stand. It hurts to lay down. Oy. Time to start looking into these pregnancy stretches y'all have been talking about.
@TinaBelcher I hope you got everything out of your system. That sounds excruciating.
