Re: Symptoms Thread w/o 9/19

  • Last Thursday I woke up with a headache and have had it ever since. Sometimes tension, sometimes sinus, sometimes migraine. Nothing helps. Medication, TENS, heat, cold, nothing. Verboten as it is to talk about weight, I've also lost 5lb.

I'm sucking back water and electrolytes like crazy, but I'm pretty ready to ask my doctor about a head amputation at this point.

  • Ouch @momousekee I'm sorry! I hope it lets up!
  • Add me to the crying bandwagon - for no reason at all (Although I have no idea what Rob & Chyna is??).

I was talking with my boss about my maternity leave on Monday and planning for coverage while I'm out, and I got all misty, I don't even know why.  I think it hit me that this is really happening, and I'm someone who has always worked, love my job, it's a big part of my identity, etc. but I was surprised that I was so affected by just talking about it.  Also my snoogle arrived today I'm so excited!  My husband just texted me that it came and it is huge!!
  • @TeacherMom2517 thank you for those suggestions, I'm going to try yogurt since drinking milk makes me sick for some reason. My OB recommend that I try Zantac 150. He also said to avoid chocolate, mints, and fatty foods before bed and to try and not eat right before bed since it takes pregnant woman longer to digest food.

  • Thanks, @homemake  - it kind of waxes and wanes and it's never QUITE bad enough for me to go to urgent care and beg for steroids.  I'm going to see my physical therapist about it next week - maybe some neck traction will help!
  • @momousekee I'm so sorry. I had a sinus headache this past weekend that almost veered into migraine territory. Not fun.  I find that using a neti pot (actually, I prefer the bottle version called Nasal Rinse) and wet compresses on my face and temples can help. I also rub my bare feet together and try to focus on that sensation rather than my head wanting to explode.

  • So if I feel like shit and look like shit today, does that make me actual shit?

@LivingLaVidaGinger Maybe you're actually just a genius and by feeling like shit and looking like shit, you're becoming one with your shit, so you can actually take a shit, and you might just be winning at this pregnancy game...

My right boob is hurting.  Specifically the nipple. Last night, I kept getting a painful tingling sometimes burning feeling. Same feeling has continued all day today.  I tried googling it but I can't find anything.  Google talks more about general breast soreness. Is it possible I could be getting "let-down"? I'm actually not even sure what let down is and if you can have it at 20 weeks. Is anybody else experiencing this?
My right boob has been hurting too! It does kinda feel like a letdown, but not as intense. (When I breastfed my first I didn't know what a letdown was so I remember describing to my husband this feeling of large metal hands squishing my breasts. It was pretty intense when I first started, but definitely got better as I nursed longer). The pain I'm feeling now feels a little like a letdown but more like a clogged milk duct. I keep trying to massage it like I used to when I was breastfeeding (out of habit) but no relief! Lame!

  • Thanks for the description, @rmpiszczek . That does sound like what I've been feeling.  I didn't know it could happen so soon in a FTM.

  • +1 to nipple pain, crampy achy RLP, acid reflux at times, sinus headaches/congestion, and now achy feet (not swollen just sore)
  • @Gretchypoo - The reflux usually happens when I sleep and I wake up with burning in my throat..the heartburn is like a warm pain in my chest which Dr Google also said was a heart attack lol

THANK YOU! It popped up with a giant yellow warning thingy and I was like, "geez, stop being so dramatic google!"
  • @Gretchypoo yea what you described is what my reflux feels like. Sometimes I can actually feel like the acid in my esophagus and it does feel warm and burns a bit. When it gets really bad I feel the pain in my chest.

@AfKash I haven't felt the pain you are describing by I had my OB appointment yesterday and the nurse was telling me that my breasts were already producing milk and that I could leak at any time throughout the pregnancy now so I suppose a let-down feeling would also be normal.

  • I am feeling like crap again.   I had a good run of a week or two, now its like I can't control the food going in to appease the beast.  I get low, I can't take meds, my headaches start and go off the charts.  I can't keep food down.  I see the doctor at 2 for a check up, but I might just be pleading for fluids.

  • I only recently started having the excess saliva thing, and it's really weird! It's not as severe as a friend of a friend who had to carry around a baggie to spit into, but I do choke on my own saliva a lot. This inspired me to check to see if it's safe to perform the Heimlich on a pregnant woman (in case I fall asleep eating again and inhale something worse than spit). PSA: Yes, it is possible. The balled-up fists should go right underneath the breastbone, slightly higher than where the ribs join. Hopefully it's as effective!

  • Anyone experience pain in the top of their belly? It's like an inch above my belly button in the center and it started about an hour ago. I was doing a lot of cleaning this morning and am now laying on the couch but it's still hurting if I get up or breathe deeply. This is a new one for me.
  • @homemake Once in a while, when I go from sitting to standing, I get this weird muscle cramp around my belly button (basically where the top of my uterus is). It usually goes away within a few minutes, though. When I told my midwife, she basically said pregnancy does weird things to your body, and in addition to your round ligaments, there are other muscles/ligaments that are moving around and stretching. She also told me that the part of your own umbilical cord (from when you were born) that is behind your belly button turns into a ligament shortly after your own birth, so there is also a ligament from inside your belly button to deeper muscles, or something like that. But if it doesn't go away, it wouldn't hurt to call your OB/midwife/advice nurse to check in!

  • Thanks @madamerwin. I tried calling my doctor because it had been two hours straight of pain but they were out to lunch. Fortunately the pain has finally subsided. I feel like it must have been a pulled something like you're saying. I had just finished vacumming so maybe I overexerted.
  • So I'm getting kind of worried. I've had a pretty severe migraine since yesterday afternoon starting at the base of my skull and radiating to my forehead and eyes. I've treated with Tylenol and Excedrin (with the permission of my OB). The migraines seem to get worse after I've slept and I'm now experiencing severe pain behind my eyes and a temp of 96.5°f (normal range usually stays around 98) but I feel crazy hot like my body is just burning up.. Should I call my OB? I took a prescribed migraine medication a little over an hour ago and it seemed to mask he symptoms but never fully rid me of them, and now they're back in full force. I don't want to call my OB over something silly and trivial and I don't want to go to the ER for them to just give me fluids and send me home. But I'm getting kind of worried. Any suggestions?

  • @LivingLaVidaGinger I think you should call your ob since you're really not feeling right. I know sometimes I hesitate and don't want to "bother" the doctor. But that's silly when they are supposed to be there for you for any potential health concerns!

  • @LivingLaVidaGinger, sounds like a call to your doctor is in order.   If you need fluids and meds, you need them.   Keep us posted.

  • Today, my husband and I cleaned our apartment together including loads of laundry.  He did the heavy lifting work.  But my entire body is so sore and achy.  And I also seem to have a low fever (I can't measure it because I don't have a thermometer at home). I'm not sure if this is from working or from stress.  I've been really stressed out the last two days due to family stuff. Unfortunately, my stomach has been crampy since yesterday, too. I really think it's the stress.  Somehow I have to try to relax tomorrow.

  • My training program here involves a fair amount of field work, and there were many days last week where I walked several miles (max was five on Monday) over uneven ground. I've kept up moderate activity so I thought I'd be fine, but today my hip flexors are absolutely killing me. Anyone else run into this? I think I need to really slow it down.
