@delujm0, poor DD! That is no fun at all. And what is it
with guys telling us we “have to have a better idea of ovulation” so we can
time things better. My DH said that last week in reference to last cycle. Our
first two cycles I O’d on CD13 and 15. So of course I thought the next cycle would
be somewhere in that time frame, but NOOOOOO it had to wait until CD20. It’s just
as frustrating for me as it is for you buddy!
@berg, LOL! I saw that gif on FB the other day and I was “I
MUST HAVE IT!!!!”
@tripledaggerWed95976, Yay for good timing!! I think you
mentioned you were trying to only get -1, right? FX for O today!
@hupp0013, the Wisconsinite in me is asking if you are a
fellow cheesehead. There’s really nothing better than fresh cheese curds,
amirite??
@Nelbetron, Sorry, lady. That happened to us last cycle (for
the first time ever).
@lboalboh, checking CP really takes practice! Looking back
at last cycle, I had high, soft, open for like a week straight and I thought,
yeah this isn’t right. Then one day I actually felt it open and NOW I know what
open is.
@KhRun17, so sorry for CD1. I’m super jealous that you can
see the Northern Lights!!
@swimsister, way to go DH! It does feel lonely doing all the
planning.
@Saralee797, sorry you’re having a rough day. I never
thought this process would be so frustrating. Man was I naïve…
WAYDTGKU: green tea with Royal jelly, vitamins, BD at least EOD with preseed when time. Clomid starts today, my first cycle of it, and I'm nervous (taking it days 3-7).
R/R: feeling meh and unhopeful about TTC this time around, hopefully I'll feel better after AF.
CS/Q: need to get back into temping after having been sick and now on AF.
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? I love it all! Kicking it off with a four day weekend trip with DH this weekend for his birthday!
DH: 31, Me: 27 Married May 2014 TTC #1: May 2015 September 2016-December 2016: Met with RE, fertility testing, diagnosis of tubal scarring, and plan of IVF *TW in spoiler boxes*
Surprise! Unexpected BFP 2/22/17 just when we were about to start fertility treatment!
@delujm0 I have that argument every cycle with H. "When are you going to ovulate?" "I don't know." "Why don't you know?" "Because the walkie-talkie I gave my ute is broken." WTF. I think narrowing it down to 48 hours is pretty spectacular, can't he be happy with that?
@JackieMarie1989 I'm sorry for CD1. That's never easy. But it's not your fault. Your drinking during the TWW does nothing to any embryo. Alcohol is not preventing your pregnancy. In fact, teenagers on prom night are pretty much proving the opposite, amirite?
@BoshnJonnie I don't want to oversell it, but eShakti is the greatest thing to happen to women's clothing since the beginning of fashion! Too much? But really, it's the only place I buy clothes from now, with the occasional exception of Ann Taylor for a skirt/top combo. I've read some negative blog posts online and I wonder if we're ordering from the same company because I always get great clothes, great quality, great customer service, and great fit. It took me a couple tries to get my measurements right (I have to adjust the waist and hip measurements depending on the fabric type so it fits right) but they made returns free and easy recently so if you don't like something you can send it back. As a tall woman with a large chest and otherwise "normal" proportions it's amazing I can finally wear dresses made of something besides stretchy jersey knit. Having tailored clothes is a dream come true. Sorry for the novel, I could go on about eShakti all day
@lmc929 Without temping or OPKs there's no way to know if you ovulated or even geared up to ovulate, so moving based on it being past CD14 may be premature. "Regular" is a misnomer; it doesn't mean you have a 28-day cycle, it just means you ovulate on the same CD each cycle. I have regular 33-day cycles, ovulating on CD20. What IUD did you have? And what spray after labor are you talking about? Will it help with pain? All I have is A&D ointment which doesn't do anything for pain.

@Nelbetron Ugh, that stuff is so hard. We also got KU our first month, then had a loss, and it's so frustrating having it be harder the second time around. Sending you awkward internet hugs!

CS/Q: Nope not today
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? The orchards, hands down! We have a TON of them in Michigan and we always go to pick out pumpkins and drink apple cider and they all have amazing bakeries so I eat far too many donuts this season. Apple picking is great there too, and many of the orchards now have hard ciders or wines as well. Can't go wrong! Its still like 80 degrees here and I can't wait for it to drop into the 60s to feel more like fall! Can't wait for the leaves to start turning

GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? I
love football! I love going to games or going
to football parties. And tailgate food
is the best! J
@marybpoppins We’ve been
remodeling our entire house for the past two years. It’s a nightmare, but it’s so worth it when
it’s done!
@GingerJams I’m pretty
basic, too, but I don’t care! I love all
the pumpkin spice!!
@BertieMeetsGertie Have fun
shopping!! I love going to the
outlets. There’s a couple of small ones
within a couple of hours of me, but the best one is six hours away!
@Nelbetron When DH and I
first started TTC, I really pushed EOD sex and sometimes more. (I wasn’t temping or going to an RE when we
first started TTC, so I was really clueless.)
It got to the point that sex felt like a chore and was not fun for
either of us. He felt like I was putting
too much pressure on him and I really didn’t feel like being intimate, I just
went through the motions. It took a
while, but we realized that we needed to make sure we were still having sex outside
my FW and to relax. Now, we are only really
strict on EOD sex the week I am taking fertility medication and the week after.
I know you will hate to hear it, because I do, but you have to relax a little. Also, if you know you have to have sex a
certain day, try doing stuff leading up to it like sending pictures or texts to
get him worked up and excited for sex early. J
@swimsister Your fall
tradition sounds like so much fun!
@littlebug2010 I love
Christmas shopping, too!! I actually
started a couple of weeks ago. I have
found that it is easier to just start earlier than waiting until the last
minute.
@Dilynne Bonfires are
definitely a fall thing… and a winter thing where I live!! It’s waaaay too hot for a bonfire in the
Summer, even in the evening.
@MrsN092714 I have a really
hard time remembering to temp, too. It
helps me if I put my thermometer beside my phone (which I use as an alarm).
R/R: I am expecting to O by not much later than Saturday; I'm still waiting for my boss to tell me if we're going out of town for a few days during this week and messing up our chances for this month. Trying to remain hopeful though and just keep my head in the game.
CS/Q: My last three temps have been higher than normal, but I am pretty positive I haven't ovulated and it's just me constantly waking up at 3 am as opposed to my normal 5 am. So no real question, just frustration.
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? It's always so sad to see summer disappear to me, but I do enjoy the cooler weather because I like drinking apple cider and hot chocolate. And not feeling guilty for not being outside because it's raining so I can Netflix all day and be just fine. Basically: laziness is my favorite part of fall.
WAYDTGKU: OPKs (solid smiley yesterday and a positive wondfo this morning still), PNV + Vitamin D, HIO EOD
R/R: Guessing O will be today or tomorrow based on my OPKs. My doctor's office called yesterday with the results of my blood work last week. Everything looks good, except my Vitamin D. So, she wants me to start supplementing with my PNV. I feel like an old person with the amount of pills I take everyday, so I bought the Vitamin D gummies to make me feel better. CD25 blood work will be next week.
CS/Q: nope
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Yes. All of it. If I HAD to pick, I'd choose sitting by the fire all wrapped up drinking my coffee on a weekend morning. I can't wait for the smell, sound, and feeling of having a fire going. I'm sure my opinion will change when I'm getting up in the middle of the night to put wood on the fire so it doesn't go out and the house freezes. (Wood stove is our main source of heat.) But as of right now, I'm looking forward to it.

R/R: It was my little sister's wedding and holy sh*t, the references to having grandchildren never bloody stopped. While I wish the newlyweds every happiness, I have to admit that there is a tiny, evil part of me that wants them to have trouble getting knocked up. I know, I know, I'm going to hell, but seriously, they shouldn't think it'll happen immediately. And even if it does, do they really want to have a kid while her husband is out of work and doesn't seem to be bothered about finding any? RAGE.
Rave-wise: I'm off out to buy "turkey baster" supplies for this cycle and my husband is really excited to try our little science experiment. Although we'll still be having sex EOD, he'll be providing me with his boys on the other days
CS/Q: We've been in Scotland (from Canada) and I decided not to bother attempting to temp / use my monitor, as it was all messed up during my last trip over. Let's see what happens once I get back in the routine.
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Fort Langley Cranberry Festival! We moved over here in 2013 and we go every year.
@TheMrs Oh god, poor you. We were incredibly lucky that my husband's parents lent us a chunk of money for a deposit last year. If we'd have waited to save up, we'd have been priced out of the area we're in now. Good luck!
@eggplantface Hmm... I hate shopping, but I hate not having anything to wear too. You're being a good ambassador for eShakti!
@leilac I don't think you can change it after CD1-4.
WAYDTGKU: temping, BD, trying not to drive myself crazy thinking about all the what-ifs
R/R: After my huge temp spike yesterday I dropped waaaay down today. I have no clue what my body is doing. Maybe it's a fallback rise. Maybe I'm being trolled by my ovaries. Ugh!
CS/Q:
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? All the festive decorating! First for fall, then Halloween, then back to Fall/Thanksgiving (and then CHRISTMAS!!!) And watching Tim Burton movies! I LOVE watching Sleepy Hollow this time of year. It gets me in the mood for fall (cause it's been in the 90's the past few days and can still get that hot until at least the end of October). Tim Burton movies in general just make me feel like fall... this reminds me I should pull them out and start watching.

@Saralee797@delujm0 Wow. Just wow. I’m pretty sure if my DH

@MrsN092714 First, I’m so sorry for your loss. I think that

feeling related to your loss that would be wise to TW, but merely saying this
is your first cycle trying after is fine. Also, most of us here are ok with
mentioning children without adding the TW. There was a vote back in July if you’re

GTKY: I love to go pumpkin picking and carving pumpkins!!! We have a contest every year with my family I'm going to attach a picture of the pumpkin I carved last year!
R/R: Hubby heard my thermometer this morning and was like "Are you okay?". I was like yep, just checking to see if I am actually ovulating or not. Then he is all like "okay, carry on". Haha, it's amazing what kind of reaction I get from the household when I pull out a thermometer!!! Today is my last day at my old job, and I start my new job tomorrow. The cards and flowers I have received have really made my day. Lots of love from my co-workers!
CS/Q: No chart stalking....feeling good about 2 days in a row of HIO...haha
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Taking the family to the pumpkin patch is my favorite. We never did it as kids myself, but it is a tradition we started for my own family!
@Nelbetron I know that feeling. DH and I took a good week off
sex after when I first thought I was ovulating earlier this month
because of those same issues. Toward the end of the week, there
was one day he had to get himself super close and I had to hop on at the
last minute. Isn't baby making glamorous? But good news, taking that
time off was good for us. The past few days have been great sex
@eggplantface OMG eshakti is amazing!!! I never knew that clothes could fit so well until I ordered from them! BoshnJonnie Eshakti really is cool. Definitely worth it if its your style. Wait for a coupon code and pay the extra to have it made to your specifications.
@delujm0 My husband has said a version of that same thing to me a few times this month. He asked me why I don't know when I'm ovulating...... ummmm because that's not the way this works.

@MrsDorkCharming Yes! Another eShakti person! They discontinued their coupon codes, though They said having the codes was unsustainable, and asked if we'd rather they keep the codes but raise the prices or keep the prices low but get rid of the codes. So they kept the low prices. @BoshnJonnie They still do $25 off your first order, though, and free customization on first order. And they have a sale section and will probably do a sale around Christmas.

eggplantface thank you for answering my question - I will hang tight over here for the rest of the week. I had a Mirena.
It is called Dermoplast Pain Relieving Spray. I had it for my stitches when I tore and it helped A LOT. They sell it at pretty much any drug store.
ETA: Forgot to answer a question.
Ooooo the Mirena is tricky. Some people ovulate right away, others take a while, just like after stopping pills. Without temping to confirm it's impossible to know if you've ovulated or not. You're welcome to hang out here; if you move to TWW you may just end up more confused by getting to 16DPO with no AF but negative tests, and suddenly you're like one of the drive-by posters who just can't figure out what's going on because you're "late" but don't have a positive test. Don't be like the BSCs Can your CM tell you anything about if O could have happened, or is upcoming?

Man, my tablet keeps freezing as I scroll down all the posts and I just can't do it anymore! So replies are like, nonexistent. I've quit and moved over to my phone.
For CM, bear down on the toilet like you were having a BM, and do some kegels. That releases CM. After a BM is the best time to check!

eggplantface I am definitely seeing more EWCM than earlier in my cycle but since its my first month TTC I feel naive as to quantity/quality. I think I'll just take OPKs through the week and if I don't get a positive make an assumption I already O'ed and then just wait for AF or good news. It is definitely hard to say what my cycle looks like though because my first period post IUD took over a month to arrive.
@lmc929 When I was new and not temping, I asked similar questions and was just politely and gently urged to temp, while being told I could move over to the TWW when it felt right to me. When I did participate in the TWW, I would just acknowledge that I wasn't temping yet and so my answers were guesses. And I never complained about my period being "late" or "early" since I really had no idea if that was true. I highly recommend temping sooner rather than later if your journey goes past this cycle. I didn't start until cycle 6 and I wish I had started cycle 2. Temping is the only reason I know now that I haven't O'd yet even though it's CD20 and therefore I won't be panicking a week from now since I know my "normal" 28 day cycle is presently delayed.
Popping in way late to reply to a couple people...it's taking me all day to read through this thread lol
@JackieMarie1989 I know you know it's almost definitely NOT the alcohol; I just wanted to say I feel you and try hard not to go down that blamey shamey rabbit hole. I made myself write over and over in my journal: "It's not my fault I'm not pregnant. It's not my fault I'm not pregnant..." And a few other statements along those lines. It's probably not the last time I'll do it, either. I try to remind myself of that 20% stat and that there are just so many factors beyond my control. Hugs to you
@Nelbetron wait, is this supposed to be fun?! LoL I'm totally feeling you, as well! It's not even my FW and I'm getting pissed off about sex lol (he was only home for three days and I still have stitches in my tummy but I'm trying to throw the man some bones for crying out loud!) Then again, DH is a classic "non-finisher" so this isn't new, but it's definitely more stressful when all I can think about is TTC because it's like, how long will this take, at this rate. I don't think I'll ever bother trying for ED again, tho, as DH just keeps saying "I'm not 20 anymore, babe". I consider myself somewhat lucky that he doesn't want it all the time because of my pain issues and whatnot but sometimes I certainly feel like I'm trying way harder than I should be!
@Saralee797 yep, they have one job. It's also why I think my H doesn't care much if we miss this cycle. Whereas I feel like I'm popping vitamins and choking down all this tea and temping and giving myself a gyno exam every day for nothing....
R/R: I covered some above but whether DH will be home at all during my FW is still up in the air. Trying to be chill about it. Apparently his boss/brother is considering coming home on Sunday (for church) and leaving again on Monday for a few days which would honestly be better than nothing so we'll see. DH has already said he thinks it's stupid to come back for one day and then leave again and I'm like...umm hi, well I would be okay with it....
CS/Q: nope
GTKY: I love all things fall! Pumpkins, leggings, scarves, boots, sweaters, leaves, Halloween. I don't like being cold tho and I get cold easily, so that's the only hard part sometimes!
@deadasthatsquirrel. I don't know why you feel it is so important to get ED. It's really not. EOD is perfect so that you do not miss ovulation. Go back and read the Grad threads if you don't believe me - most people don't need ED timing to get ku, nor does ED timing come with any guarantee. But to each her own!
WAYDTGKU: PNV, BBT, OPKs, CM/CP, FF, green tea (sometimes), HIO
R/R: I got on TB at like 7 this morning then and was super excited to actually participate early! Then work got too busy and now it's 13 hours later and I'm all...
CS/Q: Pretty sure I O'd yesterday or today. Positive OPK yesterday and this morning, neg tonight. Our timing looks good too. Not sure if FF will give me CH since I have some open temps (I discarded the super early wake time one).
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? Does lighting fall candles count? I LOVE Yankee Candles and DH got on board last fall so now he lights them even when I'm not home
@swimsister we haven't tried preseed yet. It hasn't been an issue until well... Saturday. But... if things don't work out this time, I may order a bottle for just in case. I can imagine it makes just "hurry up and get the job done" sessions a lot easier.
@mrlight no worries about advising to relax... I honestly think that's part of the issue! We're taking tonight off and I went for a run and didn't cook and I just have been totally lazy/catching up on studying and it's been great to just clear my mind. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully we can try again with a new attitude!
*snip* OPKS like wondfos require second morning urin, as previously mentioned!
I don't remember seeing when this was previously mentioned (so many to keep up with) but it's not second morning urine as much as afternoon/evening urine and a four-hour hold. For most people the LH surge starts in mid-morning so it appears in urine in the afternoon/evening after a four hour hold, to get the minimum concentration required. Second morning urine is also hard to quantify--I pee a couple of hours after FMU bc I drink a lot of water, and two hours won't be concentrated enough to measure LH. CBAD is different bc it's also testing for estrogen, which is typically excreted into the urine while you sleep so FMU is best, plus it's the most concentrated. With Wondfos I just test morning, afternoon, and night and at that rate you'll catch anything!

@saralee797 I feel ya too! They just don't understand the work we put into ttc and think the sex is the big chore. Um...hello?!?! Sorry you're having a rough day girl! @delujm0 if only our body sent us an email notification a day or two before we ovulate...huh? @lmc929 I've been tracking for a while, and ttc for 7 months and still am trying to understand quantity/quality. I do find that the more water I drink, the better my quantity is. Just a helpful hints!
Sooooo true!!! when I first started trying to conceive I was under the impression that- more sex=more likely to get knocked up. This notion turned out to be SO untrue!
After lots of research, I realized good timing can be much more important than frequency. I've seen Sooooo many FF charts of women who got KU from a SINGLE day of really good timing, and others who BD twice a day for their entire fertile week and didn't get KU.
@deadasthatsquirrel. I don't know why you feel it is so important to get ED. It's really not. EOD is perfect so that you do not miss ovulation. This
Also, I made this post awhile ago that might be useful. Numbers from the results of 2 peer-reviewed scientific studies detailing frequency of sex during FW and % of couples that got pregnant
1 time - 26% or 27% cycles resulted in pregnancy 2 times - 28% (both studies) cycles resulted in pregnancy 3 times - 35% or 38% cycles resulted in pregnancy 4 times - 36% or 49% cycles resulted in pregnancy 5 times - 26% of 30% cycles resulted in pregnancy 6 times - 10% or 11% cycles resulted in pregnancy
@BusinessWife@tripledaggerWed95976@LadyMillil I didn't explain myself properly. This cycle we migh *try* for ED, but the main reason for trying insemination is to make sure we can keep up EOD in the first place. Of course EOD is the main aim - that's what we've been doing for the last five cycles
It's just that we're starting to find the "powering through" aspect a bit much. There have been a few times that we're just too tired / not in the mood, my husband feels the pressure and I get pissed off and overreact that we might "miss our chance".
When I read this article, it seemed like something interesting to try. Even if it's just a silly experiment this cycle and we go back to normal next time, mixing things up would be a good thing for us right now.
Like the data shows, more sex during FW doesn't increase your chances that much. I don't want any newbs/lurkers thinking they need to get ED or even EOD timing to get KU, especially when it isn't feasible due to work schedules/travelling/just plain not being in the mood. In terms of your science experiment, I don't think it's necessary but you do you @deadasthatsquirrel
Re: WTO Tuesday
@delujm0, poor DD! That is no fun at all. And what is it with guys telling us we “have to have a better idea of ovulation” so we can time things better. My DH said that last week in reference to last cycle. Our first two cycles I O’d on CD13 and 15. So of course I thought the next cycle would be somewhere in that time frame, but NOOOOOO it had to wait until CD20. It’s just as frustrating for me as it is for you buddy!
@berg, LOL! I saw that gif on FB the other day and I was “I MUST HAVE IT!!!!”
@tripledaggerWed95976, Yay for good timing!! I think you mentioned you were trying to only get -1, right? FX for O today!
@hupp0013, the Wisconsinite in me is asking if you are a fellow cheesehead. There’s really nothing better than fresh cheese curds, amirite??
@Nelbetron, Sorry, lady. That happened to us last cycle (for the first time ever).
@lboalboh, checking CP really takes practice! Looking back at last cycle, I had high, soft, open for like a week straight and I thought, yeah this isn’t right. Then one day I actually felt it open and NOW I know what open is.
@KhRun17, so sorry for CD1. I’m super jealous that you can see the Northern Lights!!
@swimsister, way to go DH! It does feel lonely doing all the planning.
@Saralee797, sorry you’re having a rough day. I never thought this process would be so frustrating. Man was I naïve…
@laurad75, Glad your acupuncture went well!!
@eggplantface, Yay for new clothes!! Been there, done that re: the tearing… Not fun.
@JackieMarie1989, Hugs for CD1.
@BoshnJonnie, Way to go, DH! That sounds like an awesome weekend getaway!
@TheMrs, so the house hunt isn’t going well.

Too much?

CS/Q:
GTKY: What is your favorite fall activity? I love football! I love going to games or going to football parties. And tailgate food is the best! J
@marybpoppins We’ve been remodeling our entire house for the past two years. It’s a nightmare, but it’s so worth it when it’s done!
@GingerJams I’m pretty basic, too, but I don’t care! I love all the pumpkin spice!!
@BertieMeetsGertie Have fun shopping!! I love going to the outlets. There’s a couple of small ones within a couple of hours of me, but the best one is six hours away!
@Nelbetron When DH and I first started TTC, I really pushed EOD sex and sometimes more. (I wasn’t temping or going to an RE when we first started TTC, so I was really clueless.) It got to the point that sex felt like a chore and was not fun for either of us. He felt like I was putting too much pressure on him and I really didn’t feel like being intimate, I just went through the motions. It took a while, but we realized that we needed to make sure we were still having sex outside my FW and to relax. Now, we are only really strict on EOD sex the week I am taking fertility medication and the week after. I know you will hate to hear it, because I do, but you have to relax a little. Also, if you know you have to have sex a certain day, try doing stuff leading up to it like sending pictures or texts to get him worked up and excited for sex early. J
@swimsister Your fall tradition sounds like so much fun!
@littlebug2010 I love Christmas shopping, too!! I actually started a couple of weeks ago. I have found that it is easier to just start earlier than waiting until the last minute.
@Dilynne Bonfires are definitely a fall thing… and a winter thing where I live!! It’s waaaay too hot for a bonfire in the Summer, even in the evening.
@MrsN092714 I have a really hard time remembering to temp, too. It helps me if I put my thermometer beside my phone (which I use as an alarm).

CD: 18

@Saralee797 @delujm0 Wow. Just wow. I’m pretty sure if my DH said any of that to me he’d be in charge of the chart for the next month. “I will tell you my temp every morning and supply you with pee to test when you ask for it, let’s see if you can do a better job”.
@MrsN092714 First, I’m so sorry for your loss. I think that post would have been fine without a TW. If you want to talk about anything you’re feeling related to your loss that would be wise to TW, but merely saying this is your first cycle trying after is fine. Also, most of us here are ok with mentioning children without adding the TW. There was a vote back in July if you’re curious: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12682740/tw-poll-results-posted/p1

DS #1: 3/8/15@lmc929 When I was new and not temping, I asked similar questions and was just politely and gently urged to temp, while being told I could move over to the TWW when it felt right to me.
