Re: TTTC Checkin 09/20/2016

  • Hi, all!  I got a strong positive OPK yesterday afternoon and this morning, which is exciting because I haven't taken any fertility drugs this cycle obviously after the pregnancy last month BUT less exciting because DH left town yesterday, haha.  We did BD on Sunday so I am hoping some of his best swimmers are hanging out in there, haha.  I did have a lot of ovarian pain last night, which was super uncomfortable.  But other than that, I am feeling good, excited to POAS in a couple weeks and move forward with our next round of Letrozole if we need to!

  • Well, tomorrow is my first beta test, and I am already preparing myself to hear it is negative. (No reason why except it hasnt happened in 5 years so its hard to imagine it finally happening now) We were late doing my PIO the other night, and so DH didn't check to make sure it wasn't in a blood vessel before injecting, and when I took off the bandaid there was much more blood than usual. But since nothing bad happened I am going to assume the needle went through a vessel and that's why I bled more.

    QotW-  I never steal the pen. At least on purpose. I'm sure I have kept it on accident.

    @BWhitta congrats  on the + opk! Fingers crossed for you

  • Hello,

    I am just starting the TWW.  Because of all the stress lately, I am not feeling too optimistic about this cycle.  Last week was a bad week for me, of course right in the middle of BD time.  Plus, I was using a different OPK brand that I did not like and I never got a positive result.  I am sure I ovulated based on my cervical fluid, so I don't know what's up with that.  With everything going on, I was taking it at different times in the afternoon this last week (I normally do it in the morning), so maybe I took it too late in the day but I have no idea.

    My stress levels are at least better this week and my appetite has returned (hurray!) three-fold. I now feel like I want to eat constantly like my body is trying to make up for it and gain those 5 pounds back.

    As for the bank pens...I don't intentionally take them, but that does not mean that they don't end up in my purse, car, or on my person because of plain absent-mindedness.

  • I'm doing good. I give myself the ovidrel shot tonight and go in for the insemination tomorrow morning. I'm excited & scared. I can't believe I'm doing this again and that I'm already at the point of insemination. I pray that it takes and that I will finally be a mommy. I know thats what we all want. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

    As for the bank drive thru pen. No I have never taken it. I haven't been through the bank drive thru in ages outside of using the drive up ATM.
  • @BWhitta Yay for the +OPK! I'm glad your cycle was regular again right away. FX!

    @starlitfae FX for your beta!

    @hoffmanr7 I'm sorry you were so stressed last week. What OPK brand were you using? My last couple of cycles before the RE I never turned an OPK--despite doing it all the previous months--and I suspect it was because I wasn't consistent in my timing. At least you do have other signs. Are you temping? I can't remember.

    @beckij34 Good luck at your IUI tomorrow!

    Just hanging out in my TWW. I'll probably go in for the optional progesterone test on Thursday, because why let a week go by without going to the doctor'a office? ;-)

    @BWhitta - Hooray for a positive OPK

    @starlitfae - I can understand you preparing for a negative but nonetheless I have my fingers crossed for you

    @hoffmanr7 - Sucks to hear you were in a lot of stress but I am happy things are returning to normal for you.

    @beckij34 - I have my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow.

    @Bababatty - Lol at your why let a week go by....

    As for me I am doing alright. I am not taking any prescribed medications yet. I am anxiously awaiting my doctor appointment on the 4th of October. I just want it to hurry up and get here so I can at least feel like I am in the process of finding out what's going on and what DH and I can do about it instead of feeling like I am just twiddling my thumbs. In the mean time though I am taking prenatal vitamins.

    QOTW: Do you take the pen from the bank drive-thru home? I haven't taken pens from the drive-thru because unless it's the ATM but more often than not, when I go inside the bank I usually end up with a new pen.

    eta - response to bababatty - she posted before I completed my post

  • @bwhitta Yay for a positive OPK! Sorry the pain is so bad, but FX for all good things for you!

    Good luck, @starlitfae! Keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

    @hoffmanr7 What brand of OPK did you use? I've struggled to find the right one, and I've ended up with a combo of Wondfos and CBAD.

    Good luck tomorrow, @beckij34! What an exciting day for you tomorrow!

    @bababatty I chuckled a little at your update! :)

    @saphiresweetie88 The waiting game is rough, isn't it? We're now waiting until Oct. 10 to go back to discuss our next steps.

    I had my HSG yesterday, which was painful and I'm still cramping some today, but both tubes are clear! H's SA also came back normal, so it looks like all we're dealing with is the endo. Still not where we want to be, obviously, but I'll take it! We go back to the doctor on Oct. 10 to discuss where we go from here, but I'm expecting a referral to an RE at that time. I'm actually pretty excited about trying on our own for one more cycle post-HSG.

    QOTW: I actually work for a bank (operations, though, not front office), so I almost never go through the drive-thru.

  • @Bababatty and @pretzel2plus1 I don't remember the name of the brand right off hand, but it was one where it was either a circle or a smiley face.  I much prefer the lines, because it also gives me a chance to see when I am starting to get close.

    @Bababatty I am not currently temping.  My new gyno told me I didn't have to bother as it really doesn't help that much, so I've been sticking with the OPKs and monitoring my cervical fluid.
    @pretzel2plus1 I am glad your HSG showed no blockages and that DH's S was normal but sorry you're in pain :(

  • So my AF started and it was just the worst. It came 6 days after I stopped provera, which was unusual for me because it usually comes exactly 2 days after. That cycle was 68 days long. This has been the worst AF in a while, very heavy and just... terrible.

    I took my blood tests CD 5, I was supposed to do it CD 3 or 4 but with the bachelorette party I was co-running on CD 2, and then CD 3 I was cleaning up (We had a slumber party) and the office closed at 11 am. And then it was closed CD 4 (sunday) so I just wasn't able to get it in. Hopefully it's still ok.

    I have to lose weight. And I was going strong on keto, but then we were hit with a huge electric bill and it was ramen for me for a while. This Thursday I should be able to go back on but I'm getting so frustrated. I need to lose weight to get my RE off my back but I'm trying to buy a house, pack everything, keep everything clean and help my SIL with her wedding. That leads to stress, stress leads to over-eating. I can't wait until Saturday, at least the wedding part will be done. I also can't wait until we buy a house! But I'm going to try not to let that be an excuse. I bought a bike, and I've been riding it. So lots of fun. But diet is paramount.

    I hate waiting to try. I freaking had to wait 4 years. Waiting is misery.

    QOTW: Do you take the pen from the bank drive-thru home?

    a) Only if I really need one.  They have plenty more.

    b) No! That's borderline stealing.

    c) Wait -- aren't we SUPPOSED to take it??

    It has never occurred to me to take the pen. I always put it back in the tube. Though I do atm banking mostly. But it's the same at the drive through pharmacy. (I hate "thru") I always put the pen back, why would I take it?

  • Thanks for the concern @hoffmanr7 and @saphiresweetie88! I'm feeling some better this afternoon, as I took some more Tylenol. If I'm still cramping at this intensity tomorrow I might call the doctor just to check. I really think I'll be fine by then, though.

  • @BWhitta – congrats on the +OPK!  Fingers crossed you’ve got some good swimmers waiting for that egg!

    @starlitfae – thinking of you and your beta tomorrow.

    @bababatty @hoffmanr7 – hope this TWW goes by smoothly and quickly for you both with good news at the end!

    @beckij34 – all the best with your iui tomorrow!

    @saphiresweetie88 – I hear ya with the waiting!! It is the worst!

    @pretzel2plus1 – glad the HSG was clear!  That is my next step in testing (waiting for my next cycle day 1 to book it) and I am nervous it will be painful.  I have heard some stories of people who get knocked up after the HSG (maybe it clears out some minor blockage) – I hope this is the case for you!

    @mythrill – good luck with the weight loss plan – it’s never easy but you can do it!

    I’m having a rough week after my appointment last week and haven’t been able to fall asleep very easily due to my anxiety about my low antral follicle count.  I’m anxiously awaiting the results of my AMH (should be back by the end of the month) and am really nervous that it’s going to be low and we won’t get to have our family.

    I’m trying to refocus on more positive self-talk but it’s hard.  Any resources or go-to’s for encouragement?

    QOTW: I never take the pen!

    @seethosestars - Yes, yes it is. I try to find ways to take my mind off it but it doesn't always help. Lol

    @Mythril - I am sorry to hear about the stress and over eating. Hopefully things will be less stressful soon and you can resume your weight loss. Sucks that you still have to wait though.

    @GoldenKeys I'm here! Got my protocol for IVF yesterday - Microdose Lupron with Menopur and Follistim. I start 10/20. We have another million forms to sign but it's worth it since we are in the military IVF program, more paperwork but they cover pretty much everything!

    I cant remember last time I went to the bank!! I use mobile deposits!

    Today is our 3 year anniversary! We don't have anything planned since I have work and hubs has school. We use Hello Fresh food boxes and we got some good meals to cook this week so I'm going to make gnocchi for dinner. It will be nice to sit down together since we've both been so busy!

    Donor Egg Cycle as soon as we find a match
  • @seethosestars Sorry to hear about the anxiety and trouble sleeping :( I purchased a fertility relaxation program from www.circlebloom.com (you might be able to find a discount code online). I listened to them before bed some during my last IUI when I was super stressed and not sleeping well due to a sick pet, and they put me right to sleep! I'm planning to listen to them more consistently during my upcoming IVF cycle. This site also has some fertility, relaxation, and positive thinking meditations, although I haven't listened to them I may try them out in the future: https://thinkfertilitycounseling.com/shop. There's also a free podcast called Beat Infertility (https://beatinfertility.co/) that has a lot of good information and inspiring/positive stories regarding infertility. That's actually how I heard about those other programs :) I hope this helps!

    AFM, nothing new here, just waiting to get AF so I can start IVF. Estimating it'll be here early next week.

    QOTW: I've never taken the pen from the drive through, at least not on purpose.

    @starlitfae Thinking of you today and praying for a positive beta!!!  I think if you get a positive, I will feel more hopeful about getting a positive.  I totally feel the exact same way, it's hard for me to imagine my clinic telling me I got a positive on Monday when that has never ever happened to me before.

    Just trying to distract myself over here from the massive anxiety I feel about my beta on Monday.  I know that if I get a negative I am going to be completely devastated.  IVF was always my safety net and that shining ray of hope in my life, and now I'm just so very much aware of the fact that it doesn't always work.  I keep trying to remind myself that I have a lot going for me... a strong, PGS normal embryo, a clinic with great success rates, a nice thick endometrial lining prior to transfer, and a transfer that went smoothly.  But still, I suspect it will be negative because I can't help but assume the worst.

    I haven't been to the bank in years.

    @starlitfae i'm so sorry about the BFN... it hurts even when you think it's going to be negative

    @hoffmanr7 and @Bababatty and @beckij34  good luck on your TWW.. FX

    @mythrill good luck with the weight loss! i'm in the same boat and need to get serious about losing some weight

    @pretzel2plus1 are you starting to feel better from the HSG?

    As for me, I had my HSG the other day as well.... super painful but necessary as we found my left tube is blocked- the RE hasn't given any indication on what the next step is bc she wants to wait for all my bloodwork to come back and she has my DH doing another SA, which I suspect will be fine bc his numbers thus-far have always been good .. i'll meet with her again next week to discuss options

    @BWhitta good luck with the positive OPK!

  • @Bwhitta congrats on the OPK! I knew it wasnt going to take long for your body to be back in the game :)

    @starlitfae so sorry for the BFN, it hurts no matter what you thought the result would be.

    @pretzel2plus1 and @harleyquinn0621 my HSG was also super painful! Sorry yours was too, it's really not fun to be squirming in pain on a hard table with a team of people watching.....

    FX for everyone in the TWW!

    @GoldenKeys can I be added to the list? Not sure if there was something I needed to do to qualify for it....maybe we haven't been trying long enough?

    I'm 5 dpIUI here and just trying not to go bonkers. Post-wash SA was a little low on motility (35%), but numbers were good (134.7). The Dr had to manually open my cervix to get the catheter in, so now I'm convinced my narrow cervix has been our issue, although the lower motility probably doesn't help. I also have crazy-painful AF cramping every month, which is a sign of cervical stenosis too. Either way I am super hopeful for this cycle!

    I haven't ever used the drive-through bank teller, but I am always stealing pens.....I pick them up without realizing it and find them in my hand later!

    Not much to update, I just finished my second round of letrozole (7.5mg this time) and have an US scheduled for Saturday so we can plan IUI#2.

  • @SummerBrooke13 Thank you for the positive thoughts and CONGRATS to you!!!  Has your RE scheduled an OB scan?

    @starlitfae I'm just so sorry.  Your BFN is hitting me especially hard, knowing we are in very similar boats.  I have the same feeling of dread that you had.  This really SHOULD work, but even though it's our best chance possible, it's still hard to imagine it working.  My thoughts are with you and I hope you find peace. Best of luck to you with your next embaby!

    @ReesaAnne16 Best of luck to you with IUI #2!  It's so hard to decide how many is enough.  I hope it doesn't come to that for you!

    @starlitfae Sorry about the BFN

    @Mythril FWIW my nurse told me any time between CD2 and 5 was fine for the CD3 bloodwork.

    @SummerBrooke13 Congrats!

    We got the rest of my bloodwork back and aside from Vitamin D insufficiency everything else was fine. My DH's SA came back with good numbers as well so @GoldenKeys could you update my dx to Low progesterone, vitamin D insufficiency and borderline PCOS?

    I started Metformin last Saturday and while I think my symptoms have been mild in comparison to what I've read online I have been in an almost constant state of nausea with zero appetite. I've actually lost like 2 lbs this week. I've upped it to two pills a day at this point and I'm really praying the nausea will go away eventually.

    I am technically WTO but I think I have/will ovulate today. This is our last "natural" cycle even though I am on the Metformin at this point. Assuming we don't get pregnant (which seems pretty unlikely at this point) I will start Clomid in October and we will do a medicated cycle.

    QOTW:
    I really try not to steal the pens. I'm not gonna say it's never happened, but I really try.

  • *Sigh* I know I wasnt feeling all too positive about this cycle because of everything thats been going on at work, but it doesnt make teh BFN I got this morning any easier.  I was so hopeful about these rounds of clomid.  Something was definetely happening while on it because my cervical fluid was the closest to egg white consistency Id ever had...the closest I had ever gotten before was watery.  Im so frustrated.  Why cant I get pregnant?!, Why didnt the clomid work?!  Am I ever going to get pregnant?!  When is it MY TURN?!?! After 17 months of failure, Im just so tired.

    I know weve all felt it...I just needed to vent

  • Hi I've been lurking this board for awhile and just started seeing an RE. All my testing I got done this month as well as started clomid Sunday and got finished my 5 days Thursday.

    Today I went in for my HSG with saline and ultradound. It was a little painful. They found a cyst on my left ovary. They think it may be partically blocking my tube.

    They said I did respond very well to the clomid and they saw a mature egg and I was supposed to go in Monday for an ultrasound and then the trigger shot but because of they cyst they told me not to conceive this cycle until they take care of the cyst. I was super bummed.

    I have to call to schedule another HSG test this time with the dye and xray. My Re did it this time with the saline and ultrasound.
