My parents are coming up tomorrow for the long weekend and DH and I finally decided we wanted to tell our parents earlier rather than later (want their support if anything were to happen) and I want to do something special... but am coming up with a big *blank*.
How did you annouce your PG to your parents/family? I KNOW there must be some great stories on here...
Please share!!!
Re: How did you announce your PG to your family?
Here's the plan
And Here's the recap of how it all happened
Have fun! And thank you for the excuse to dig back through my blog!

Thank you for sharing!!!
"Oh come on Gromit, a bit more, you know... alluring!!"
hahahaha that is too funny.... yeah my parents don't come up to visit that often and I had to really convince them last minute that they *want* to come up this weekend, cuz otherwise I don't know when the next time I'll see them is bc of our schedules... prolly not til october and that's WAY too late IMO... and there's something about doing it in person!!

MarksGrrl - awwww that is really cute. where did you get the grandparent's journals?
This is such a last minute decision, we don't have a lot of time to pick up anything custom!!!!

We announced it to them on Easter so we made up Easter baskets for each set of parents with a wrapped frame with the grandparents poem in it and plastic easter eggs filled with baby items.
You can make some sort of a popper out of toilet paper roll tubes or the tubes from paper towels (cut into 3-4 inch sections) and then fill it with a few small baby items (pacifiers, socks, baby nail clippers, diaper pins) and a little note that says "our little firecracker is due in month/year" then wrap up in wrapping paper and tie off the ends as well as the middle with red/white/blue ribbon. Ask them to pull it apart and see how long it takes them to realize what is going on.
Congratulations and let us know how it goes!

Long's. I stumbled upon them one day and made a mental note for the big reveal.
And congrats to you!! Have fun this weekend and be sure to tell us all about your big reveal!
oooh that is a cute idea too!!! DH and I have been referring to 'our dumpling' so maybe I can think of something good using that....
*must*put*thinking*cap*on....
thank you for the well wishes and I will def update!!

Well we didn't do anything to special actaully.. I just couldn't think of any good ways.. all my family was told over email (lame i knoow but nobody's local and i didn't want anyone to feel like I called one person over another first) DH's family we told them at dinner which his mom had a feeling apparently and wasn't shocked which was a little disappointing for us.
thats about it.. booooring
I hope you find a good way
I wish we would of put more thought into it.
I think we picked it up from cafepress.com but you could easily make one by typing it out and printing on iron on tshirt paper (just print out backwards!)
Another option incorporating a monkey is go to build-a-bear and purchase a monkey (or other animal) buy one of those recording thingys and put a message on it. We bought a monkey for DH's grandparents recorded "There's going to be another monkey in our tree in June of 2008. You're going to be great-grandparents!" they LOVED it. (plus, you can do it last minute!)
AND.... fun! I can't wait to hear which way you decide to reveal!
I understand the email thing and not wanting some folks to find out before others... that is our biggest concern w/telling the ILs... MIL is not the most subtle person, and she is likely to let it slip accidentally... hence our originally wanting to wait... sigh. I guess there's no perfect wayto do it.
For me, I know it will help to have a card, or gift or *something* because I get super tongue tied when I'm really nervous... !!

The buildabear is a great idea too...

thanksgiving dinner
dh was saying grace and saying everything that he was thankful for including the baby due next summer. everyone BUT my mom got it... mom was on her usual 5 sec delay. she thought it was a reference to my brother and his wife who were also due this summer (their baby came 6/11) NOT us since she had NO idea that we were ttc.
she was shocked when it 'clicked' ....
