Congrats @kvict238 on the birth of your son Elliot. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and praying that Elliot's stay in the NICU is uneventful and as brief as possible.
I'm happy that you and your little guy are ok, stay strong. Tell him there are a lot of pregnant ladies out there sending good thoughts and prayers his way!
What a week it has been for this little boy. He handled his first two days so well and then gave us a real scare. He we unable to maintain his blood pressure and his oxygen needs were increasing all the way up to 70%, he is usually around 20-21%. It was a long night and we weren't sure he would make it. We had him baptized just as a precaution that night. He had a blood transfusion, a head ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound and a chest X-ray all in one evening. After the blood transfusion things improved a little. They started him on 3 different types of antibiotics and now after a couple of days he is doing much better. Dad and I get to help with diaper changes and he gets oral care, breast milk on a cotton swab that gets put in mouth. Big milestone today was he opened one eye, they were still shut when he was born. Today he gets a follow up brain ultrasound to make sure he doesn't have any bleeds and an abdominal ultrasound to check his intestines. It's been a wild ride so far but we are hanging in there. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers
@kvict238 thank you for taking the time to update! That sounds like quite the roller coaster week. So glad to hear Elliot is doing better, and opening his eye! Praying for more and more positive milestones as well as stamina and encouragement for mom and dad.
@kvict238 - Thank you for the update. I'm sorry that your little guy had such a tough week - I can't imagine how stressful this all must be. You and your family are in my thoughts and I hope Elliot continues to grow and improve without anymore scares!
@kvict238 - what an incredible journey you little one has already been on! So glad he's doing better and we're all with you as you keep moving on one day at a time!
@kvict238 I just cried, that must have been beyond scary. I'm so happy things are looking up, I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but what a miracle (coming from the not very religious person over here). Thank goodness he is ok, it sounds like the doctors and nurses are really amazing there. Still sending good thoughts your way! We are here for you!
I know I've been terrible at keeping people updated but I thought about the bump for the first time today since my last update. Life has been insane since Elliot has arrived. I wasn't really a religious person but I truly believe Elliot is a little miracle. We've had numerous nurses tell us he shouldnt be here today but he is and is doing so well! He has come along way from being 1lb 13 oz and 12 inches long. He is now 11 weeks old and is a whopping 6lbs and is 18 inches long!!! We also just gave him his first bottle yesterday. It is amazing to see him doing so well. I wish I could have kept you all updated on his progress better because you have all been so nice with your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. I can't thank you enough.
I'm so happy that you and Elliot are doing ok, and that he has been growing and gaining! I've thought about you and wondered how you are handling everything.
