I took this blood test last Wednesday, just curious on people's thoughts who have taken it before? What were the results like? Was the gender correct? Really just looking for feedback in general... Thanks in advance!
I took it a couple weeks ago, it just told me I was negative (low risk) for all the trisomies and that they didn't detect a Y chromosome in the sample so most likely baby is a girl but I haven't had my anatomy scan yet to confirm. It took about 5 days to come back with results.
I took the Harmony test last Thursday and am waiting for the results, but from what I hear those tests are pretty spot on, including the gender. I have to yet to hear/read about a gender being wrong. The hardest part is the waiting!
I've read some stories of gender being wrong, especially when test shows it's a girl. From what I've read, sometimes the Y can take longer to show up. It it's supposed to be like 98% correct though.
I took it and the only thing I have to add from what others have said is that it took 2 full weeks for me to get back my results, which were normal/low risk. That might have been because it was for twins. Just mentioning that because all the other stuff I found on the internet showed people getting results way faster and I worried myself sick convinced that no news meant bad news.
@spartanrd4 How far along are you? I just took the test last Wednesday, and they told me it could take two to three weeks for my results to come in. I'm in Oklahoma and they have to send the test to California for the results. Hoping it doesn't take that long. My anatomy scan is October 13th, so that's about four weeks from now, you'll have to let me know what your anatomy scan says!
@anonellis they told me 2- 3 weeks... I am hoping it doesn't take longer than two!
Thank you to those who have responded... I was kinda worrying about getting some kind of bad results back from the test that I wouldn't want to hear or that is irrelevant and most people that don't take this test would never know.. if that makes sense? I get anxiety easy, its really easy for me to stress about things.
@Spartanrd4 yay that gives me hope! Did your doctor call you with results? I don't feel like mine will call me unless there is an issue, that's how she is with most tests.
@jadkins17 they called me with the results- usually all my tests results go to mychart (electronic medical system) but this time they called me personally.

I know you tagged someone else for this post, but I believe they call you regardless. They have to let you know if your risk is low or positive. If you want to know the gender they'll also tell you.
@spartanrd4 and @kiyamurph awesome! I've been checking my chart daily just incase. They offer a electrical chart too but it doesn't have anything about the test on there so far. Hopefully all is low risk and the results come back soon.
I took the Maternit21 test for DD #1 (back in 2014) and received my results back in 5 business day. Thankfully everything came back low for the trisomies and the sex was correct (20 week US confirmed the result). This time around, my insurance covered the Panorama test, similar to the Maternit21 and that came back low risk as well, in addition to the sex (another girl ) This also took about 5 business days to get results. I'll find out at the 20 week US to validate the fetal sex.
I had the Harmony done on a Wednesday and got my results back the following Tuesday...had that Monday not been Labor Day I may have gotten them back sooner...we know the gender but are keeping quiet for now

@MrsBinPA I do not know the difference in the Harmony test and Materni21. However I am glad I got the test. Tomorrow will be one week since I took the test... .hoping it doesn't take the full two - three weeks to get it back. So anxious. FTM...everything is so exciting. I'm just hoping that the gender is correct because the first thing I am doing is buying something. LOL
To all who responded, were you required to take the Maternit21 test because you were considered high risk, or was this a required round of testing? I am just inquiring as I opted out of taking this test but did all of the other First Trimester screenings. The Genetic counselor recommended I do take the Maternit21 because I will be over 35 when I deliver, but I said no one because of all the False Positive results they give to women and two because the out of pocket expenses are ridiculous.
I wasn't required to do it, I'm under 35 but wanted to do it anyways- my OB gave me a referral for a genetics appointment. I wanted to do this test along with the NT scan because it's more accurate and it's only one blood draw where the other screening test is 2 blood draws.

When it comes to medical stuff, nothing is "required" per say. You never have to do anything you don't want to, even if it's strongly recommended. I opted to do the Harmony test since I'm 35 and I wanted to completely rule out Down Syndrome. If I didn't have 1:71 odds, I'd probably skip it since I don't want to know the gender. Also, the many false positives mostly happen with the NT scan and those results, not so much the DNA genetic blood screens. Materni21, Harmony, and the like tend to have at least a 98.5% accuracy rate for detecting abnormalities. Since you'll be 35 when you deliver, your insurance may cover most of the Materni21 cost and you may have to just pay the copay. Our copay was $100, but I figure it's $100 for peace of mind.
@MoreLove4 Yes, due to being AMA (I was 36 at the time) and it was recommended I get it done. I had Cigna HMO and did not pay OOP costs. This time around I have new insurance, Blue Shield EPO and they covered Harmony instead. I've heard the OOP expense won't be more than $150.

I was not required to take the test either. I am 26 with my first child. I opted to take the test because my insurance covers it completely, so why not. Plus I wanted to know the gender before my 18-20 week ultrasound. The test has proven to be around 98% accurate, and I know ultrasounds are less accurate than that depending on the baby's position during the US. Hopefully, the gender turns out to be correct
Hey guys! So I had my Maternity21 labs drawn on 8/26 and they sent my bloodwork off to a lab in California. They called late last week and said the lab had a technical difficulty and my results would probably be delayed at least another week. They promised me that it wasn't something wrong with my blood but that the issue was a delay in the lab. I've read some of you had tests sent to California and I was curious if yours are taking that long. I'm not going to lie, it does concern me that it's taking so long! I'm also really nervous that they are going to slip up and tell me the gender, even though it's on my chart that I don't want to know. Honestly, these days I'm finding myself worrying over just about everything though.
@JRD3516 my Maternit21 labs also got sent to California. I was told it would take "one to two weeks" and it took exactly two weeks (or 15 days, because my doctors office didn't get the results until after business hours on the east coast so they called me the next morning). I was annoyed because on here everyone seemed to have really fast turnaround and I worried the longer time meant bad news, but everything was normal. I would have faith that whatever the delay is is unrelated to your actual results!
also, the person who called me was super careful before telling me gender information. We were clear that we wanted to know but she made a point to stop, clarify that I wanted it, and even offered to hang up and call back to leave it in a voicemail I could check when I was with my husband. So even if they mess up and think you want to know, they should give you plenty of opportunity to shut them up before they tell you!
@JRD3516 I had mine done last Wednesday... I am hoping that there are no difficulties and that the results come within the two week mark. I am really sorry that you haven't gotten your results yet. Waiting is not fun and waiting even longer than supposed to. My test was too sent to California, I am from Oklahoma so I expect it to take probably the full two weeks.
Hi everyone! I had progenity done at 10 weeks. I'm 28 but I'm just a touch bananas and I needed to know everything as soon as possible. Insurance covered mine in FL, leaving me with a 250 dollar copay. Is that a bit pricey? Yes, but for me it was money well spent so I called ahead to get the copay and was able to save the money. It took about 6 business days. Fingers crossed for good results for you ladies!
Hey again! So, I got a phone call today that wasn't what I was hoping for. I truly didn't want to know the gender of my baby but the doctor called and said that the test showed negative to the main things the MaterniT21 looks for but something came back indicating a potential chromosomal abnormality that is gender specific. I am now scheduled to go to a genetics counselor in the morning and have a high risk ultrasound scheduled for Monday. After a lot of discussion with my husband, we decided to call back and ask what the "condition" is that they are trying to rule out. We felt like even though we didn't want to know the gender, this was enough reason to find out so we could know what we are potentially facing. I'm am very hopeful that the testing in the weeks to come will show that there is nothing wrong and that we have a healthy baby. In the meantime, we are trying to wrap our minds around the idea of our little girl potentially having Turner Syndrome. I have never felt so scared in my entire life. I will say that I've read a lot of stuff online of so many false positives for that condition based on these types of blood tests and I'm hoping that's the case with me. We are keeping our child no matter what but this has definitely not been the easiest pill to swallow. I was definitely hoping for the phone call saying that everything looks "normal". I guess the worst case scenario will be that my family will have to develop a new kind of "normal".
@JRD3516 I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I don't know anything about Turner Syndrome, but I do know these tests have LOTS of false positives for various conditions and I hope that is the case here. Please keep us updated. I am thinking of you!

I am hopefully it will all work out for you and your family. This is what worries me the most about this test is the False Positives and all the anxiety on waiting on the results. All of that anxiousness and the fear of the unknown trickles down to the baby, unnecessarily. I hope you can take it easy, and hopefully the further testing will put you at ease. Have a Blessed Day.
@JRD3516 I am so sorry to hear that. But keep your positive attitude up. My best friend was told by her doctor after the down syndrome test that her baby girl was down syndrome. However, as time went on they ruled that out for the most part and now her beautiful girl is 5 and no signs of down syndrome what so ever. You are right to say that these types of test aren't always accurate. In your case, I hope it isn't. Keep us updated. Many prayers for you!
I am so so sorry you're having to deal with this @JRD3516. Hoping that the meeting with the genetic counselor and ultrasound on Monday bring positive news.
Thank all of you for your encouragement! I've had a whirlwind of the last 24 hours and while I still don't have any definitive answers, I feel like we are on the right track. As it turns out, there seems to be a less likelihood of something being wrong with my baby...but the materniT21 test picked up on something that is most likely wrong with me instead. They did additional genetic testing on me today and I should know something definitive about me next week. I have learned way more about genetics in the last 24 hours than I learned in the last 35 years but what I have learned is that if they confirm that I am the one, in fact, that has Turner Syndrome then I'm extremely thankful to be alive since only 1% of those diagnosed before birth actually live. On top of that it's like over 95% of girls who have it who do live are infertile and here I am in my 13th week of pregnancy. It's a lot to take in but after all is said and done, I know God had a reason for me to be here and the same goes for my little girl. If it's confirmed, I hope to help other women who are told their daughter may have this disorder understand that it isn't a death sentence and their daughter could very well end up leading a very normal life. I'm praying that things continue to look good for my baby and for all of you and your babies. I'm glad that this test could most likely identify this in me but it makes me sad to think about all of the parents who are told about "abnormalities" like this and decide to terminate a pregnancy due to it. I'm honestly glad technology wasn't so advanced back in my parents' time because I don't know what they would've done. I'm definitely praying for the lab work to come back confirming that I have this condition because then it would be very unlikely for my daughter to have it too. I'm sorry to ramble but I truly do appreciate you guys and the support you've given to me!
